I wanted to thank you. Came back from a mechanic and I needed more throttle. My snow would throw 5 feet and engine would die out and needed multiple manual restarts. Turned in throttle mechanism screw one turn. Snow throws 12 feet, not once did it stall, more than enough power. You made cleaning out from snow a pleasure. Thanks for also teaching me a lot about carb adjustments and throttle and governor adjustments. It was a mystery art before you explained it, now it's science. Real cool. I subscribed.

thank you. because of your videos i could save my old yard man. my service station wasnt able to do the job properly but because of you i could do it myself. they told me the price for the hours of the mecanics were too expensive an it would be better to buy a new one. i mean they were right, it was a lot of work, but i have time (but no money ;)) and thanks too you i could fix all problems by myself. Greetings from Austria

I am rather savvy with small engines because i am a tinkerer and a RC nitro tunnel hall boat racer. Some of the time there is a learning curve (BOOM) just once. With all the snow we have had here in ohio a snow blower is a must. I given the task to fix all of my fathers equipment that had been neglected for a few or 8 years. To save my back no curve allowed. Brother you rock, Awesome video. The beast is back, she is running like a champ kicking A and throwing snow. Thanks!

my next project is a craftsman 31cc weed wacker that sat for 3 years while i was away.when i pulled the plug i can see the varnishing inside. it used to run excellent better than others of the same cc now i can barely keep it started. do I want to do a complete tare down of the engine and walbro carb so it will run like new again. but i have never torn one down that far.maybe do some polishing (IE) performance mods, any advice? or videos? I can take a 3.5cc k&B pro outboard nitro rc motor and run it at 60 on the water. I just really cant afford the learning curve any more. I dont have the money i used to lol. Thanks again. oh when i was done with the mtd blower i did a whole city block so the kids didn't have to walk in the street. I had to play with it lol.

I must thank you for your very informative videos. I purchased a year old 8 ½ HP Yard Works for my father two years ago but didn’t really check it out. This year I noticed the snow blower was over revving and shaking its self to pieces. With advice from my brother in-law to check your videos, I was able to get the snow blower running correctly. Thank you again. Now I have a new reference for all of my small engines.

@tsp2jxd
@tsp2jxd 2 года назад
Two things need to be addressed in this video. 1. What is the down position for the throttle? Off of idle? 2. You mention where the governor arm should be when tightening the screw but you do not indicate where the piece the governor arm connects to should be? That piece coming out of the engine block moves about 15 degrees in either direction and has a major impact on if this works or not. Thanks for all your videos!

awesome videos. I just got a Jacobson Homelite 824 with a Tecumseh 8HP engine for free that "didn't work." Cleaned the Carburetor, changed the belts, changed the fuel line and spark plug and it runs greats. The carburetor linkage and screw adjustment videos were extremely helpful. Thanks for the good info.

Thanks for the video ! A few years ago I had my snow blower serviced and it just seemed like it never ran well. The small engine repair man said he worked on it for a while and got it as best he could. This company has been in business for 30 + years and yet they still didn't make it run right. It always seemed to idle slow. I just followed your tip on adjusting the screw on the throttle lever and it ran perfectly!

My snow blower was running like crap so I had a friend take the carb off and take it to a friend of his and the guy took it all apart and cleaned it good. After putting it back on the snow blower the engine would race. Well my friend got sick so he hasn't been able to fix it. I found your video and now it runs like a charm! I just have to adjust the high throttle screw at the throttle handle to let the rpms come up just a little bit more. Thanks!

Donyboy73: Just wanted to thank your for your excellent videos. When I started my Ariens Snow Blower this morning it was racing like crazy. NO idea why this would have occurred. I have never done anything to the carb, and it was running fine yesterday. Followed you instructions and was able to fix the problem by adjusting the governor arm. Motor ran great after that, but the unit would only throw snow a few feet and got bogged down in high drifts. Went back to RU-vid and found your video on adjusting and replacing the V belt. Thanks to your excellent video the hardest part was finding the right belt. - I did find a cotter pin puller to be very useful in getting the belt aligned on the wheel. Very grateful for your help.

This seems to come up a lot on here a lot and i just want to clarify it. It does not matter if you buy the lowest quality gas or the highest for your small engine. The most important factor is the age of the fuel. every time you use your snow blower, shut the fuel line off and run it until it dies. Gas these days after a few weeks will gum up and the ethanol will draw water in as well.

I got mine running great today. FYI, the length of the longer rod (the one from the governor to the throttle control) is about 6.5 inches and the shorter one (the one from the governor to the carb throttle) is about 4.25 inches. Thanks for the informational video. Also, the position of the rods seems to be important. I had the longer rod in the wrong hole. I used the hole that's in your video.

Donyboy, my confidence in my abilities to work on my own engines has skyrocketed since I started watching your videos. Maybe too much. I'm stuck. New carb (non-adjustable) and some 1/4" internal fuel line had my problem child (Ranch King w/ 8hp Tecumseh) purring like a kitten. Then I tried fine tuning and screwed it all up! Stalls at full throttle. Tried various adjustment on high and low throttle speed screws. Governor hasn't been touched at all. Love your channel!! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi. I have an 8 hp Tecomseh on an MTD 24 in snow blower. I could hear it faintly surging (changing engine speed ) for a long time. this storm it got much worse. The surging was changing the RPM's much more then it died after I did half the drive way. I took off the heat shield thinking the carb needed adjust only to find it is not adjustable. I changed the spark plug. I cleaned both jets although they did not look dirty. Carb cleaner is blowing freely through the holes. I cleaned out the float chamber although that was not dirty either. It starts fine, sound s good for the first maybe, 2 min then it starts reving up and down and I can see the speed governor moving back and forth, then it starts to run worse and worse and in about a minute it dies as if I had shut it off. When I had the float bowl off I noticed holding the float up made fuel run out of the fuel hose (I had blower standing on it's nose) so I don't think it's fuel starvation. The governor arm has never been off the blower. After the first few minutes of not moving, the governor starts moving as I described eventually the engine just stops. Any clue?

Great video. Took my snowblower in for new carb and they didn't put the linkage back in correctly. tried to tell me that's the way it is. Uh...no. Still didn't seem right and now it appears the spring at the throttle lever is missing. Any idea on a part number that. The big spring, not the little one that the adjusting screw runs through.
