WOW! You really have a wonderful mind! I'm a good painter, but I lack the creativity that you have. I'm 46 years old and have painted more cars than I can remember, but this little trick that you came up with is so simple, but I would have never even came close to what you did off the top of your head. U da man!
Hey buddy, I am 33 and have been a collision painter since I was 19 and went to work for a large atl. Based paint company selling Dupont products (including Standox!!..greatest line ever in my opinion!...lol!) now I work for a German auto manufacture doin repair, and also doing custom work at home on bikes. I say all that to say you inspire me brother!...I have lately been trying to step out of my box of basic line graphics like tribal, and drop shadows with an airbrush, to more stuff with an
fantastic job!!! very innovative. ive been airbrushing for a while and still after a few years am lookin for new ideas or ways to do things! the fact that you encourage others to use your idea is fantastic! there are many artist or creators that (stingy) with what they do! kudos to you! im definitely gonna have to try this on many new projects!
WOW! Man you have some mad skills there.... I think the hood came out perfect! That is something totaly different and I bet you will see more of them pop out here and there.. Thanks for sharing your idea with us as most painters won't do that.. Thanks again man and keep posting those secrets up so that we can all learn from them..... Peace.
Best part about watching your videos is..You can understand what you are saying. You dont play that heavy metal crap that drives a person out of thier mind.
I'm welding very much in my Job, and if you show me this without the making i probably cant tell the Difference to the real thing. Of course without touching it. Great job you have real talent, keep up the awesome Work.
i thought the same thing with the bondo im going to use 3m automix panel bonding adhesive it most definately will not come off and comes with its own mixing tube
@BerserkCustomPaint - OK, bassakwards or not, I think it looks great! I have been out of the AB loop for a few years and now I just got my shop built. I love your faux weld project and I can't wait for the weekend so I can try it. Great job! I am subscribing to your vids. Thanks for sharing.
@pyrofella from my travels in the US and Canada I got the impression that "Root Beer" is what we here in Oz know as Sarsaparilla, but as Ryan said , think Coca Cola Candy like finish.
best weld airbursh video i've seen thus far.... considering doing the same thing on a bike's plastics but not sure about the bonda staying on... thoughts?
Hey that was very cool indeed ! I like the way that you explain what you are doing and why, it makes it easy for noobs like me to understand ! what brand of bondo did you end up using ?
how can I put fake spot weld "dots:" back onto a car I am restoring. the panels are already welded, bondoed and primered but the seams and spot weld dots are now lost. It's nice and smooth but an accurate restoration would have visible spot welds.
Not that I'm aware of.. I do recall the comic strip character Dennis the Mence drinking it.. my best guess it's a shade of reddish brown?.... I use Createx Wicked acrylics and the root beer color doesn't appear to be listed their range.. Cheers
I've done this. No extra enhancing with collars. It looked great painted one collar after, trying to enhance whit a lot of shading makes the whole effect look 'fake'
Great job man, great creativity. I think it came out awesome! I do have one question.....did you have to thin the filler at all to get it to flow properly from the squeeze bottle? I normally use rage gold and it seems a bit thick for a squeee bottle.
Ryan, I need a little advice. I have purchased a new compressor, it is a TC80T Airbrush Compressor for£72.00 GBP. Air output=20-25 litres per min. Auto stop at 3Bar.Air tank= 3Litres. This all sounds good, but I run out of air very quick and I can run the electric motor for 10 minutes, then it takes 15 minutes to cool down, at this rate, it should take me a year to do 1 painting of a circle. have I bought a compressor that is too small,? as my wife won't let me use the garage one in he house.
Nice work dude!, love the weld look! Question? have you tried other materials for the weld beed yet? like maybe how bout using say a caulking compound, where you can simply cut the tube end, then working is forward and back create those weld "puddles"......then proceed to the painting process..... man I like this idea for an overall motorcycle theme with a rusty aluminum, welds, rivets kind of theme.... very cool, nicely done! and thanks for posting this.
I love it thats really cool. But have a question. I don't know how it will work on a welding helmet. But rather than using the Bondo. Have you tried using Artist Acrylic Modeling Paste? Which it says its for Acrylic paints and other mediums. You can buy it at most art supply stores and its made by Liquitex. I would use it when I would do custom masks for like Masquerade parties or Halloween costumes. I would lightly sand a plastic mask like the one's you get at a party store. Like this www.michaels.com/10075518.html#q=masks&start=5 Then Id apply the gel paste to the mask and let it dry. Which is permenant, flexible and water resistant. And once it dries its hard as a rock. I wonder if this would work better than the Bondo. For it wont dry out as fast as the Bondo giving you a little more time to work with it. Then once its dry you can paint it. Should you happen to use it on your next helmet let use know how it works out.
Killer job man. Im actually doing a welding helmet for a friend. I was thinking of using my striping brush to stack little dots to imitate a weld bot the body filler looks great. Gotta love custom paint cause i dont think theres a wrong way you know? You do some great work dude, screw the haters. Check out my channel.
