It's actually quite easy to set up NearDrop. Start by downloading the latest ZIP file from the project's Releases page on GitHub.
From there, extract the ZIP and move it to the Applications folder on your Mac.
Because you downloaded this app from the internet, macOS will prevent it from running by default, so you'll have to use a workaround the first time you open the program. Head to your Applications folder in Finder, right-click NearDrop, and choose Open from the context menu. Another prompt will appear - click Open on this one, too. After doing this, you'll be able to launch NearDrop like any other app in the future.
Once NearDrop is running, allow the app to post notifications when prompted. From there, make sure your phone is connected to your Mac's Wi-Fi network, then find a file you want to transfer. Tap the share button in the app on your phone, then select the Nearby chip at the top of the share sheet. Depending on the originating app, you may have to tap More on the initial share sheet before you see the Nearby chip.
Give it a few seconds (maybe even as much as a minute), but your Macbook should eventually appear as a target on the Nearby Share screen.
After selecting your Mac from the Nearby Share menu on Android, you should get a notification on the macOS side. Click the Options button on this notification, then choose Accept. Depending on the file size, it may take a minute or two, but you should find the file in your Downloads folder once the transfer is complete.
This absolutely helps me share files between Android devices ( I have pixel 5, Samsung s22 and the tab s8+) and MacBook!

Oh no!!! It's probably a problem with your home network!? (Maybe) I recommend checking your router settings to see if there's anything blocking the multicast UDP packets needed for device discovery, or stopping devices on your local network from talking to each other. or You could also try a different release version! Btw, what MacBook are you using?

On your phone, you basically share things via “nearby share” NearDrop is for your MacBook/windows 1.Open the file you want to share 2.Tap the Share icon 3.Scroll to the Nearby Share icon 4.Your phone will search for nearby devices 5.Make sure the other device has Nearby Share enabled When the device detects the receiver's phone, tap the device name 6.The receiver (your MacBook)must tap Allow to start the transfer Hope this solves your problem!

Absolutely! It's totally safe! I've been using it for a long time without any problems. Plus, the Android phone and MacBook I use are both mine. So I can say with complete confidence that it's 100% safe.
