Installation and testing - Alpine PWE-S8 Compact Powered Amplified Subwoofer on a Ford (Fusion) Mondeo Mk5. An under-seat subwoofer is a great option to get more bass without taking up lots of space in the trunk. After a lot of research, I chose the Alpine PSE-S8 and I am pleased with the results. Adding a subwoofer really enriches your driving experience. If you don't have a sub woofer you're missing out on a lot of music. The sub woofer can produce sounds a normal speaker can't. It helps to fill in the missing bass nicely. It’s not a window shaking monster, but when I listen music and am happy with the improvement over the factory sound system. We install an interesting setup in our 2016 Ford Mondeo Mk5 that might be appealing to some people that want something that doesn't take up too much space.

Everyone that owns one of this make sure to properly adjust your gain. I had one installed and it was not done right then 9 months later got blown. When I removed it under the seat noticed the gain was at max. If you look online most people get this blown because of the gain setting. The recommended gain setting is 30% of the whole gain knob. Trust me when I say this I’ve had 2 replaced before realizing this was the problem. So far I’m up to 3 years running 2 of these and no problems.

I think that the problems you described are most likely due to the fact that it was not mounted correctly. I am on the second subwoofer of this type. The first one worked for over 4 years and was sold as a package together with the car on which it was installed, and this subwoofer in the clip has been mounted on the car for over 2 years and works perfectly without any problems whatsoever.

@@FlorinWorldFW I used the same wiring that was previously used with the one blown and the replacement is up to 3 years now. I meant a blown woofer not amplifier. The amp is still good but the woofer’s voice coils are rubbing and are creating a lot of distortion.

Did you connect to the front left and front right speakers? I see the cable colours at 8.52 in the video but not sure what speakers they are

The subwoofer was connected to the "+" on the power socket under the dashboard, a 10Amp fuse was inserted on the route, and the audio connections made the junction on the wires coming from the speakers in the rear doors to the plug in the multimedia unit , as seen in the images captured in the clip. This amplifier does not require connecting the remote cord due to the fact that it "feels" and takes its own signal when it is present in the speakers.

Hello...Thanks for appreciation. At minute 08.56 of the clip, if you stop the image and scroll in slow motion, you will be able to see how the connections are made on each wire of the SYNC2 unit. The subwoofer was connected to the "+" on the power socket under the dashboard, a 10Amp fuse was inserted on the route, and the audio connections made the junction on the wires coming from the speakers in the rear doors to the plug in the multimedia unit , as seen in the images captured in the clip. This amplifier does not require connecting the remote cord due to the fact that it "feels" and takes its own signal when it is present in the speakers.

This video will be the reason why I will pull the trigger on this baby 👶 love me some alpine since I can remember. Doing type X 6 1/2 components and 6 1/2 coaxial on my doors along with type X amplifier and last but not least this great sub powered amp ❤️ maybe over doing it with the type x series but my 22 tremor in iconic silver only deserves the best , sorry got carried away love all of this

Question… with this type of installation, does the amp need a remote turn on wire to be connected or does the amp just “feel” the high level input from the speakers?

Hello... It does not need a remote start wire. The amplifier only "senses" the high level input from the speakers.

Hi! Thanks for the video, I got the speaker not recently... :) Just wanted to make sure the settings are optimal for the bass: 1. Phase 0-180: Unpresserd 2. LP Filter: about 75 degrees 3. SUB GAIN: Max (SUB REM connected) 4. On the Remote Bass Level Knob: about 50% gain? Thanks

Hello... Thank you for your comment and appreciation. Those optimal settings for bass are made according to how I liked it to sound better, they are not something standard. You personally can juggle the settings to your liking and you may find a much more optimal and better sound than the one I found. 😉

😆😆😆Puerile motives. It has no problem, everything has been working perfectly for more than 3 years. If we think about the temperatures in the car's cabin during the summer... it's just not 100 degrees Celsius there... Thanks for the great video. I’m debating where do I put mine. Under the drivers seat, passenger or in my boot (trunk). Will I be annoyed that it’s just on the one side of the car if put it under 1 seat . In the boot (trunk) it’s at least in the middle of the car, but then at a cost of its further away so will it not be as good / fit fit purpose?

Depinde ce iti doresti acum... daca vrei ceva puternic care sa se auda din exterior cand circuli pe strada, si care sa porneasca alarmele masinilor din parcare cand treci pe langa ele, nu este varianta potrivita. Insa, daca iti doresti doar un plus de bass pe care sa-l auzi si sa il simti doar tu, este varianta optima avand avantajul ca nu trebuie sa ocupi portbagajul cu amplificator si subwoofer si sa tragi o gramada de fire separate pentru alimentare, amplificator si subwoofer. Decizia iti apartine... ;)

No, it is not necessary in the present case. Because it is an amplified under-seat subwoofer, compact, powered, without a separate amplification station, it does not require direct connection to the car's battery. If you watch the video clip carefully, you will see that it is connected to the power supply of the 12v socket in the passenger compartment and a 10MAh fuse has been inserted on the + circuit. That's it and nothing more, the rest is self-explanatory from the content of the current video clip, which I tried to make as explicit as possible and I added details in the video clip description.

Salutare... Sincer, nu stiu... Trebuie vazute dimensiunile subwoofer-ului ( le gasesti trecute mai sus la descrierea clipului sau pe pagina oficiala a producatorului Alpine ) si dupa aceea in functie de acestea, masurat si comparat daca intra sub scaunul soferului sau al pasagerului din dreapta.

Salut!..subwoofer ul isi pastreaza claritatea si face față la melodii cu ritm mai rapid ,tip rock/metal sau ceva techno? Caut ceva bun pt toate tipurile de muzica unde ar fi nevoie si de un deep bass dar si ceva mai punchy

Este prins direct de mocheta de pe podea, cu banda autoadeziva, cu scai: www.electriduct.com/Hook-Loop-Fastening-Tape.html Am folosit doar partea cu scai (arici) a benzii de fixare pe care am montat-o pe partea de dedesubt a subwooferului prin intermediul benzii autoadezive de pe spatele ei si, odata pus acolo sub scaun el s-a fixat foarte sigur si solid de mocheta de pe podeaua autovehiculului. Am incercat sa trag de el si sa-l misc de acolo dar nu se clinteste din loc, este foarte bine ancorat si fixat sub scaun.

Daaa... a fost o poveste frumoasa cu acel Focus... mi-as fi dorit sa continuue... :( A fost masina care nu m-a dezamagit si nu m-a lasat niciodata... Mai tii minte cand m-ai ajutat sa montez computerul de bord si la un moment dat cand o suspendasem pe cric si dadusem roata jos ca sa trag niste fire pentru senzorul de temperatura exterioara si cel de la lichidul de spalat parbrizul, o daduse din ploaie in ninsoare...?! Hello! I don't know how to answer you. The space under the seat must be measured and then compared with the dimensions of the subwoofer. That's how you know for sure if it fits your car or not.

Very simple and fast ... With Hook and Loop Fastener Tape... I only used the Hook side of the mounting strips that I mounted on the underside of the subwoofer, and it was attached to the carpet on the floor of the car. You make some totally unfounded statements without even having watched the whole video carefully. Everything is mounted according to the Alpine manufacturer's specifications. I have dozens of cars mounted with something like that and if you follow exactly the manufacturer's mounting specifications and adopt as an additional safety measure the mounting of a 10 amp fuse on the "+" circuit of the subwoofer power supply it is impossible for something negative to happen. Better said, the car ignites and catches fire from a common car charger for the phone or when you smoke in the car than from a professionally installed and mounted subwoofer. Have a nice day!

It's a founded comment alright! I think he's referring to your cable management and connections not the mounting of it. Your biggest mistake is the supply cable being fused at the wrong end, the inline fuse is there to protect the cable not the appliance. The amp already has a fuse built in, why would it need another fuse 6 inch's down the cable. Although you are mavrickly tapping off an already fused down supply so you've got that going for you 🤷‍♂️ but really it should be on its own supply. The splicing to the speaker feeds doesn't look great either, did you solder and insulate them off camera or was that the finished article? Solder and glue lined heat shrink rather than twist and shout! Glue lined heat shrink crimps is another option. Looks like your trying to hot wire it! Have a nice day.

Personally… if I was you guys I wouldn’t have even attempted posting this… that’s a shocking installation to say the least… Alpine states to extended there 10awg wire and connected directly to the battery. Not from a cigerette lighter feed… what happened when you want to plug something else in? Do you know what that wire is rated to and it’s factory fuse rating? Twisting bare copper around wires and calling it a good install is ridiculous. Not soldered or crimped… you secured it to the carpet with hook and loop which is basically velcro… there’s mounting plates supplied by alpine for this to be bolted through into metal… is this a joke?
