Do you need an anchor on a jet ski? Whilst it really depends on what you use your jet ski for, we think that it is a good idea to have an anchor stored in your jet ski and to always use it. It is often one of the best and most underrated items to carry as safety equipment on a jet ski.
You might have seen many different anchors in the market: sand anchors, screw anchors, umbrella anchors, fluke anchors, and the list goes on…
So, what is the best type of anchor for a jet ski? It depends on the conditions you are using it in. One thing is anchoring your jet ski while on the beach, and another is anchoring your jet ski while fishing, for example. This will determine how heavy of an anchor you will need for your jet ski, the anchor rope length you need, etc.
Jet Tech has developed two types of anchors: an inshore anchor and an offshore anchor.
The Inshore Jet tech Anchor is the best option if you’re simply looking to ride the hull up onto the sand. It will prevent your jet ski from floating away in moving tides. We definitely think that anchoring your jet ski to the sand is the best way to beach your jet ski.
If you want to anchor your jet ski in the deep water, so you can go surfing or fishing for example, you would use the Jet Tech Offshore Anchor. This type of fluke anchors are great for jet skis that are anchoring in both sand and muddy areas.

I personally keep my retrieve line on board the ski that way you can just pull yourself towards the anchor rope and pull it in

hey bro, how to you adjust the length of the rope from the anchor to the attachment on your bow ? i.e. to meet the required scope (based on the depth of water) ? eg, if in 1meter of water and need to only have 4m of rope out, versus being in 2m of water and needing to have 8m of rope out ? Any tricks to quickly adjust the length of the total rope from bow to anchor, or just have to re-tie it off again at the bow point ? I just see this can be a pain as have to reach all the way down to the bow eyelet each time..

Hey mate great question, I personally just re-tie a second knot on the bow for a shorter length of rope. Though I always tend to be anchoring in surf conditions and even it was only 3m deep, I still put out the 20m of line. If it’s under 1m and you can stand next to your ski, then just a simple knot to hold it there for the mean time.

Even tieing from the bow, if the wind is offshore or outgoing tide or both.the ski will be facing the shore not the oncoming waves

The chop will be coming from the direction of the wind though. Swell is a different matter. Should always anchor from the bow for sure. I wouldn't anchor so close to the beach that the swell is breaking close to me, which is maybe what you are talking about?

@@theowenssailingdiary5239 think about it mate, I'm anchored off a reef , generally surfing so wind is offshore, I throw anchor , unless I'm literally in the breakers galivanting in the white wash , I'm getting blown out to sea . If I throw a stick to my dog in the ocean, and it's offshore and especially no swell, I'm getting blown out to sea , and the anchor is holding the bow . I never anchor near the beach , i beach it or off the back of the reed

@@slabcharger7162 yep, but it doesn't matter if the stern is facing the swell does it? If you are far enough out? I guess in your case it wouldn't hurt tobanchor off the stern.
