Oh, this reminds me of the old Maya tutorial by Jason Busby (may he rest in peace) with the talented ball. But way more advanced. With blender finally having a good UI, I might actually give this a try. You are well-spoken without all that usual over the top RU-vidr shenanigans, really refreshing.

I really was looking for a tutorial like this to learn animation fundamentals and voila! Thanks again. I hope you continue making these stuff. By the way, instead of using "Camera to view" I just decide my camera view while freely roaming and then I press "Ctrl+Alt+0". Great to see you make a new tutorial. Although I personally would like you to focus on more advanced stuff like the character animation series you did. Awesome vid. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable knowledge, you're a godsend for us early learners out there. I'm going to give it back : 38:40 : Passe-partout is a word of French origin that literally means 'goes through everything'. Usually means either a key that opens all locks within a specific setting, or in the art field it refers to the black framing around paintings that started around the 16th century (which is obviously what the term within Blender is referring to). And it's really easy to pronounce, actually. 'Pass partoo', the 'T' is silent, like it's often the case in French words. Hope that helps. Keep the amazing content coming, and thank you so much for what you do.

@@activemotionstudio1820 I have actually gone back to 3.5, which for me seems to be the only version where all my add ons work ok. I bought the hard ops/ box cutter bundle last year but if I try and use it in 4.1 it crashes Blender straight away, yet it was ok in 4. I don't think it's my specs as I have 64 g of Ram and a pretty good gpu. Bit of a mystery.

Very useful tutorials, I love the way you explain things although I still have trouble following along sometimes because I am new to Blender. I had trouble figuring out how to turn the eyes on and off but I figured it out, I had to use G to move them. Also, I'm curious do you also use actions in your animations? I saw other people talk about actions and non linear animations and I'm a bit confused about the role of each feature in Blender.
@alexonstory
@alexonstory 3 месяца назад
I'm happy to hear my videos are helping you! Take your time. 1 baby step at a time. I do not use actions in Blender. Although I see the usefulness of them during a production. Actions are saved animations that you can apply to your characters. So you can create different walk cycles and then in different scenes apply a saved walk cycle. For learning Blender animation, get comfortable setting keys and interacting in the 3D viweport and graph editor. Learn the principles of animation and you'll improve with time.

Nice video, i saw that you went to to object mode to change the animation key set . But you can more easily change it in the timeline, if you go to the keying option in the timeline menubar this option is always available as long as you have the timeline in the viewport.

Great tutorial, thank you, i am a vfx compositor and this gave me lot of insight , written down what you have said , going to practice. I also want to learn how to animate robots, spaceships, characters from Live action VFX point of you...That would be great.....

Because Blender provides for real-world measurement units, you can use real-world physics and math to calculate the actual rotation rate of the ball based on its radius/circumference and its speed through space.

Yes, wish I knew how to do that. I eyeball it. But having the option to be realistic would great!

Hello! Thank you very much for your very interesting lessons. I found your channel a few weeks ago through a search for cyclic gait. I haven’t watched this video in full yet, but I’ll definitely watch it and the sequel. I have a question. I made several cartoons in Blender. And I post them on RU-vid. This means I choose FPS 30 frames. I watch a lot of tutorials and people in them choose FPS 24 frames. Isn't this a mistake? Will there be a desynchronization of sound and image or any artifacts if the video is made in FPS 24 frames and then posted on RU-vid.

Thanks for the great question! Your right, if you post a video that was created at 24 fps and then uploads to 30fps you will get 6 frames which will be held for 2 frames. Not perfect but also not the end of the world. As for sound I am not sure, but I haven't found much difference. Most people animate at 24 frames a second because that's how they learnt, including me. I did do a games project and we did our work at 30fps. As long as your work looks cool, it really doesn't matter too much what frame rate you go with. Hope that helps!

@@alexonstory Thank you very much for your answer! Now, thanks to you, I know how the 24 to 30 frame synchronization mechanism works.

Have a question please: Just before each bounce, would the ball stretch or remain the same? It squashes, on impact, and then the rebound would elongate the shape. But prior to the bounce? OR is that an animation quirk? To add emphasis and visually make it look more appealing? Just keen to understand the pre-bounce shape and what we did in the tutorial :)

Great question! Yes typically you'll have a stretch frame just before the contact pose. I like to have about 2-4 frames of the ball stretching to it's longest shape before the squash contact pose. Hope that helps!
