Another excellent lecture. I love that you pointed out the fictional and distorted passages mentioned in the NT allegedly referencing the OT. Keep up the great work.
Dismantling the x-tian claims from A-Z is enough for anyone with even the least of honesty and interest in this matter. This lecture covered most of the points anyone would ever need. Even though there are much more to study for the diligent. //Former Messianic who got sick of being lied to by deceitful missionaries
B'H. Orly Shalom;thank you Rabbi i enjoy all your lectures, and learn a lot abaout judaism, and a deeper meaning of our torah.May Hashem grant us the privilege to hear more of this lectures toda, kol tuv
At 13:54 on the video Rabbi Skobac points out that there are at least two problems with the reasoning of the Christian apologist who seeks to justify the different accounts of the supposed resurrection of jesus noted in the gospels. The truth is there is a third problem. Namely that the Christian believes that the books of the new test are written under the influence of the holy spirit. So while it may be true that people differ slightly in their perception of an event, this would not occur if the people writing of an event are doing so in the case where the same source (the holy spirit) is providing them with this information. So unless the Christian is willing to forego the idea that the gospel writers are writing under the influence of the holy spirit, they cannot use the excuse that different people perceive things in a different fashion.
I too felt the same, you should see the video Rabbi debates Christian Minister - now that's a good one! But yes I too after being raised a Christian all my life have recently discovered and have considered converting to Judaism. I live in NC a very conservative state with a lot of churches. I too have enjoyed his lectures and as for myself, I am determined to become a part of the Jewish nation. As for you, I have confidence you WILL find your way. I'm sorry you lost your faith in Jesus....
Christians aren't persecuted in America today, but some sects of Christians like the Baptists were persecuted in colonial times. In other parts of the world such as the Sudan and Egypt, Christians are still persecuted. They're also persecuted in Communist countries. The main reason Christianity grew and Judaism didn't grow is because it became much harder to convert to Judaism.
Well, if a Christian missionary came to my door, I would just tell him I am a Catholic, that usually does it. Now, basically there are only 2 flavors of people who will come to your door, one is the Mormons, usually easily identified by the white shirt, tie, and they usually travel in pairs. The other kind is Jehovah's witnesses, they usually have an odd pamphlet called the Watch Tower. Neither of these two types are actually Christians. The Mormons are the formerly and occasionally the multiple wife crowd one of them owns Marriot; the other group is the witnesses, they only have room for like 144,000 in heaven, so the seats should be taken by now, no soup for you kind of thing like on Seinfeld. On the outside chance an actual Christian comes to your door, ask them if they are Catholic. If they are you can talk, if not, just indicate you have a new policy and people need to submit something in writing via US postal mail and you will review it. Now, if it is a Catholic at the door feel free to talk, you have nothing to lose, you can even talk about the book of Tobit and stuff like that. If you are lucky you will get one that has some interesting information for you. If it were me - oh, could I tell you some stories! Now, beware of Protestants, there are thousands of flavors of them, they are well meaning but since they have no really unified beliefs and are all basically free lance churches it is too loosey-goosey; I would go with the Catholic thing, much better, besides, the Catholics are the original Christian group, accept no substitutes. I know what you're thinking - hey don't we have some bad history with those guys. Well yes, yes you do. But you have to know one really odd thing, there have been (and continue to be) some really really nasty Catholics. Like the English Catholics burned old Joan of Arc who happened to be a French Catholic - yup. You don't have to be Jewish you can be Catholic and take it in the neck. SO the moral of the story is not all things and all people said to be Catholic are actually Catholic really. Even some popes! Bet you didn't know that one. Anyway don't let bad people get in the way honest discussion, there are very good and very bad people in every single group, family, tribe, or religion on the planet. The key question for most, hopefully, is what is the nature of God, what does He want of me, and what if anything has he done in the past several thousand or more recent years. I am aware of big things God has done and does even now. Big stuff. Not many know of it, a few million or so probably have seen some of the big things I allude to, really some phenomenal stuff, you should hear some of this stuff. It is kind of important if God is up to something - don't you think? God is not what we expect, He has surprises. Best wishes!
