I just had an interview and I really want this job. My answer was that I did not like criticism that was passed along in a rude manner, I can take criticism as long as it’s delivered with respect. That was the truth 😅 I’m also new to interviews, my third one ever. I felt trapped for sure.
I have heard of people giving honest answers and getting the job. God job in standing up for yourself. You could have backed it up with, _The way I like to be treated is the exact way I like to treat others_ And maybe add, _and I have worked in enough establishments to see the effects of negative behavior_ Good luck on you getting that job.
I've learned the best way to answer this is not to mention a weakness that relates to the job you're interviewing for. For example, if you're an Accountant you shouldn't say "math is not favorite thing in the world" When I'm asked I say: excessive compassion, overthinking, or dealing with ambiguity, then I'll tell the interviewer how I've worked to overcome my weaknesses. Anyway, another great video Ben!
I answered this question (what is a weakness and a strength of yours) two weeks ago, applying for an admin assistant position. I gave a true answer, that I have a tendency to feel annoyed when interrupted. This job requires interruptions all day long. I stressed that I was a lot better at it than I used to be, my strategies for attacking it, and acknowledging that while I've overcome my weakness quite a bit, I still have this tendency and need to be conscious of it so I nip it in the bud. Then I shared a true, very strong, strength. I got the job offer, and am convinced it's because interviewer knew I was telling the truth about the strength because I told the truth about the weakness. People can tell, I think, if you're being authentic or not and that matters a lot more, as you alluded to, than the actual (if nonfatal) weakness.

Hi 👋, Ben! What about being a super direct communicator? This is something that I’m personally dealing with. A RU-vidr who makes content about effective communication was kind enough to give me access one of his masterclasses after I contacted him on his website. It’s been quite helpful. But I need to rewatch it. This is Andrew Keener.
