Ok, this might sound weird, but apologising to myself is a total new concept to me. Apologising to myself would mean that I have to acknowledge and accept that I deserve the respect, love and care that I give so freely to other people. My inner child is completely astonished by this realisation. I struggle a lot with self worth and boundaries, so this is a great first step in growing and healing this component of my cpstd. Thank you so much, Heidi, I will try my best!

I love this comment so much because it almost perfectly encapsulates what a revelation self-apologizing was for myself as well. Doesn’t sound weird to me at all. Sending tons of love 💛

My personal recap: 📌 Acknowledge you matter (imagine if you've put a child in that situation) 📌 Express remorse (were you disrespectful to yourself?) 📌 Show that you understand what you did wrong and why (why you did the thing you're apologizing for? How do you know things will be different in the future?) 📌 Acknowledge what you didn't get wrong ("when we fail, we are closer to succes than we realize") 📌 Make amends and repair what you have caused to other people 📌 Make a plan to address this situation differently in the future Thank you so much Heidi for your video! 🙂

I think some really amazing shit is coming out of your depression. amazing insights. It's time to stop building resentments against ourselves and instead apologize, forgive, make amends. Thank you!

Self honesty without judgement- admitting WHY you did something so you don't repeat the mistake- the more we do this the more Self Trust we start to build. Not lying to ourselves. Extracting wins from losses. All great advice! 👍👍

I didn't know how to do this but with your example I finally could. My inner parent had to apologize to my inner child for being both neglectful and abusive to her. I indulged in food, procrastination, etc since I was like 9, and my inner parent couldn't set boundaries or discipline since my real parent also couldn't. And now, I'm 28 and I finally could feel the guilt. I knew I had to feel it, I knew I was bad and I had to say sorry but deep down, idk why, I didn't truly believe I was wrong, although in my conscious mind I KNEW I was wrong. But now I could finally tap into my regret and say sorry, genuinely.

Heidi, great video. You are right when we try to be good for others and apologize to others for our mistakes. We never get to apologize to ourselves for our shortcomings. I think is a good practice to be able to find inner peace. Resentment towards others that have done us wrong only hurts us not to those people. The same goes with the resentment and guilt we hold inside for the mistakes we’ve done in the past to others. My friend Liza directed me to you, after seeing that video, I immediately subscribed because you are really sincere. You put a lot of effort on your videos and you have a strong foundation on how your videos are made. The brainstorming is really amazing on the topics you choose to talk about. Thank you Heidi! I wish you the best that life can bring!

Thank you I am in this Situation right now. I owed myself this apologize and I realised a Lot and that were many situations. I create now Art myself I decise to show Up shw for me. I am developing a personality. I found out that I Want to Work at the Theater and I Want to color the Back . I discovered that I am demisexual. I am ambitious. And now I am doing everything for my Dream. I am sorry inner child for letting you down. Spend my Life people pleasing because I was scared. Because I accepted decisions of other people. I Love myself now. And now I am fighting for my Dreams. I am sorry that I Pit you into two Jobs without thinking... I am sry that I don't search for independence and a healthy relationship with you. I am sorry little René but now I will make you happy

I worked at a mental health treatment center for teens for many years and we found this 4 part apology we liked to use: - I am sorry for (explanation of what happened) - It was wrong because (showing you know why) - Next time I will (changes to be made) - Will you forgive me? Its pretty simple but it was pretty effective! I notice many of the same elements in your apology process. -

Unfortunately every minute you spend married to a narcissist is a waste. 18 years of blankness. Well af least I finally recognized what the situation really was, but try getting anyone around you to see it as well. No need for self-apology. I was conned, robbed of almost two decades. Had to completely shut the door

@@koalamama2 You dont even want them renting space in your head. No Contact, amnesia, is the only way forward. But watch out. We repeat until we resolve. I was conned like so many others. I dont hold any blame towards myself for that. These days I stay aloof though, not wanting to fall yet again into some people pleasing role with yet someone else.

@@marshallbrown2072 its best to address what got you into the relationship and what kept you there for so long then apologise to yourself. Bypassing the healing will keep you bitter on the inside and will delay your true happiness, unhealed trauma will result in attracting more of the same. Learn from my lesson that its best to learn your lessons fast so you dont upgrade to attracting psychopaths or sociopaths as they are not fun at all 🙏💖

I had a great morning workout, overplanned my study table and was doing great actually, until around 4pm I started finding more X's in my practice sets, and I felt energy drain and turned to youtube and now it's 11pm. :( hahahahahaha. I'm really sorry that I did this to myself, and I keep wanting to finish this sentence with an empty "and it wont happen again" but I know it will. I was literally clicking through this wilderness that is youtube. =))) Then I found this video. I'm having hard time applying this, and now putting it off again, but Im hoping at the back of my mind, i'm generating insights to truly apologize to myself holistically so that I wouldnt fail this exam again. Re-reading this sentence, i seem to be a master at justification lol :( Annnyhow, Thank you for the 5 steps, means a lot.

This video made me cry. Good cry. PS- what if someone won’t allow you to apologize to them?
@heidipriebe1
@heidipriebe1 2 года назад
I’ve been in that position extremely recently actually. I personally go with the assumption that others know what’s right for themselves. So if they don’t want an apology, I’ll respect that boundary and tend to whatever feelings it raises in me on my own. It’s a humbling situation to be in but one we can also learn a lot from, I think.
@SimonBea1
@SimonBea1 Год назад
@@heidipriebe1 If I might add to this, I found that when you want someone to forgive you, you are actually giving that person a lot of power (that they might not want). The first step to living well with yourself is to take back that power and forgive yourself. It involves everything Heidi said in that video, especially understanding why you did it and being able to explain it to yourself. The other person might never forgive you. While it's sad, you have no power over that person and can't force them to appreciate you. You have to move on, for yourself.
