If I seal with the glitter glue will the last coat still be a little sticky. If so can I still apply the brite tone over if it’s still a bit sticky? Also does hang dry mean take it completely off of the turner or can I leave it on the turner and just stop spinning?
So u have 2seal bout 10 times every 2 to 4 hrs, with the brite tone/xtreame protection But does tht include the whole process like glitter, decal ect..??
Hi there just found you and watched your video thank you for all the information! I do have a question if I’m applying glitter to my tumbler but need to spray paint w color first do I sand paper the tumbler then spray paint then can I just add the e6000 spray to add glitter ? And then use crystalac to finish for sealing ? And if yes where can I get crystalac? Thanks so much :)
You need to prep your tumbler first! Let your spray paint dry 48 hours and then you can move onto using your crystalac products. Here is a linK: thecrystalacstore.com/collections/clear-top-coats/products/brite-tone-instrument-finish?sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you! I've been trying to determine if E6000 is non-toxic, given that it is being used on a tumbler (even though it is sealed by Brite Tone). It looks like Crystalac also makes a certified non-toxic glitter adhesive, so I'm wondering if you think that would be an acceptable alternative for E6000, if it turns out that E6000 is not certified as non-toxic. Thanks!
Yes I no longer use the E6000 Pump Spray and only use the Glitter Glue! thecrystalacstore.com/products/crystalac-glitter-glue?_pos=1&_sid=394ae612c&_ss=r&&sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
I just applied Brite tone to my Starbucks tumbler and applied glitter but I missed a few spots with the Brite tone , should I apply more right always or let it spin for an hr? Then apply more Brite tone/glitter in the missing spots it’s my first time doing this 😩
definitely let it dry for 4 hours before you do anything! you can either apply more brite tone and add more glitter or you can actually use the E6000 spray if you have any. Some people like to do it that way! Here is an updated video of how i apply my glitter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UmrUj82Cup0.html
I would add a decal and if not more crystalac it just does not seem to have that glossy shine to me I know sometimes videos and pic just do not do our pieces justice and maybe that is the case here maybe a dried cup removed from turner might have been a better presentation.sorry but I am one of those painfully honest ppl.
I recently switched over to write tone. but I have a weird questions. have you put crystalac on top of epoxy. so I used the last bit of epoxy on a cup but have been using brite on my new orders. I need to do one more coat on the one with epoxy could I do brite tone on top of that
I have put crystalac over epoxy! the Epoxy needs to be fully cured which can take up to 30 days so just make sure you wait first. But once it's cured, you can give it a light sand and add the brite tone!
Hi Alison. I was wondering could you recommend another type of sealer for the glitter? Currently I’m using epoxy and want to make the switch to Brite tone and I’m currently using a clear gloss spray paint sealer. Could I still do this when using Brite tone ? Thanks
You can use clear spray paint but it needs to dry 48 hours before moving on with brite tone but totally still usable! Many of us use E6000 pump spray instead because it needs less time to dry.
If I want to add chunky glitter after the layer of fine glitter (I already added two layers of the fine with modge podge and E6000’d it lol) do I add a few layers of EP/BT then the chunky? Or can I go in with modge podge and e6000 again THEN start my crystalac layers? TIA!
I've seen that the Crystalac takes 30 days to fully cure, how would you handle sending them to your customers when they are done? Do you use a disclaimer that to use gently for the first 30 days? Or is the product decently durable through those 30 days? The epoxy I use now is full cure in 3 days so I hold cups for that time period.
I hold cups for 5 days then pass them on. They're definitely durable before 30 days but a lot of people say gentle use up until xx/xx. I use all of my personal ones after 5 days and have never had an issue!
couple of questions: I see you are wearing a glove, do you need to wear with extreme protection? Also, how are you going to make sure that it is sealed without leaving a bit of a line on top? I am confused by the different ways to make sure it is sealed, when you go trim off the lip.
No need to wear gloves, i just dont like to get dirty sometimes LOL it rinses off super easily! You don't need a lip at the top, the crystalac adheres to the layer below it so as long as your paint is adhered to the cup, the crystalac will adhere to the paint.
I can't say for sure without knowing what it is but i can say that anything from an aerosol can has to off-gas for 48 hours before using CrystaLac products!
I just followed this tutorial. I love your videos!!! . I just started my very first tumbler. I put bright tone. Then a chunky mix with fine. But.... I need a bit more glitter on my tumbler. Can I do the e6000 spray after 4 hours of course. Then e600 and glitter again right away to get more glitter on it?
Roughly how many MLs do you think you put use each time to cover this cup? I know you don't measure crystalac but i'm curious. I take 10 coats to get over the glitter to be able to do a decal. I think i'm doing something wrong.
Usually about 2 mls. The first few layers over glitter a little more. I always seal my glitter with E6000 and flatten it too. Chunky glitter does take a lot though.
Also I’m not sure if it is possible or not but can you use acrylic paint to dye the EP or brite tone? I really want to make one of the Milky Way tumblers. Can you do that with these products?
Thank you for this video. I have watched your videos all morning. I have to get away from making tumblers with epoxy. I have become allergic to all epoxy. I have tried 5 or 6 epoxy and no luck. Plus I do not like that it is harmful.... I wanted to learn about this product but was getting overwhelmed not truly understanding the process. So again thank you
You can definitely make fabric tumblers! Here is a video of my recommendations on what to buy ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pt9ugSTP1NM.html
Absolutely! Just make sure you let dry for about 48 hours before you start coating with Crystalac. That's the only reason to use the e6000 instead... Less wait time!
Hi! Question is it possible to get a glass like finish with the BT? I used to use epoxy before and I really loved the smooth glass like finish it gave me. I've been trying out the BT and EP but I'm not seeing the results that epoxy gave me. 😒
I personally have been getting a glass like finish so I know it's possible! Let's see if we can get you to have that too! What do you notice is different about your cups?
Hi! Can I used this method to seal a glitter rolling tray, or is there anything out there that gives glass like finish like epoxy? I just want a smooth high shine finish so you can't feel the glitter.
