Nice video. Measurements are great, most customers would rather see the branding “in full” with minimal visual reductions. Placing that brand vinyl in the exact center obscured some lettering. A technique called “visual centering” reduces this loss of brand detail. Such as having to cut that small amount from the large lettering in the center and obliterating the small “r” in the word Air. It appears “unfinished”. Most of my customers would have complained and that would have been money out of my pocket on a re-apply. On larger graphics the use of air release vinyls, though it costs a little more, aids greatly in reducing large bubbles. I don’t completely pull the transfer paper until I try and work out as many large bubbles as possible I see. That is the forgiving thing about air release vinyl. Nice Clean work, really clean work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That's absolutely right. I was trying to go with exact geometry my whole life. Finally, an artist told me that it is not about the numbers but about how the whole picture looks. I would transfer the decal slightly to the right to make the slit pass between the letters.
Do you have a certain brand of transfer tape you like? Do you have another video of how you layered the different colors in during the weeding process? (I usually apply to vehicle in layers by color and use registration marks) I never thought of the magnets, great idea!
Do you have a video on how to apply the larger size decals like those on the side of the vehicle? I have a vehicle I will be apply large 18"x5' solid decals to that I won't be able to slice through.
EXCELLENT VIDEO I used to do the lettering for a company back in 2002... working on a $7000. computer... Now it seems like everyone can do this sort of thing... I miss designing and cutting out the decals. Do you just sale the Decals (* I know how to put it on a board) I am getting ready to move back to Albuquerque, New Mexico (US)... I hand painted my last 4' x 8' sign... took way too long... it looked beautiful... but I'd like to do Vinyl this time... Thank you for sharing this video.
Missing a "s"? Thanks for explaining but you should think about a better microphone option! Would it make not more sense to put the whole sheet 1 inch to the right side to have just "1 cut letter" instead of 3? I really thank you for all your tips and sharing your time with us :)
I am also a sticker applicator, but we have different techniques, sorry to say the this technique create bubbles. He should streched the sticker while running esqueegee to avoid bubbles.
Great tutorial! You should fix the audio though. The left channel gets randomly muffled and it creates an extremely unpleasant effect if you're wearing headphones.
You must clean the vehicle thoroughly. And pay special attention to edges rubber seals and back sides of door opening. They can harbor grease, dirt and road grime. Even if it’s a brand new vehicle. Clean it with soap like joy. And water. Dry. Then 91% rubbing Alcohol as a final step. Based on how involved the car washing was. You may have to let dry overnight. Do a final wipe down of rubbing alcohol right before you install the graphic. And use a microfiber lent free towels.
We use a lot of 651 for race cars. I am not sure what type of plotter you are trying to use, but we spend a lot of time making sure that we have the right depth and the correct amount of blade showing. Once you have those two right, very easy to work with.
I am don't understand why the 90% of the "seasoned pro" vinyl decal installer, RUBBING whit the Squeegee ALL the transfer paper? There is no reason to do it! That complicates and make more hard the removal the transfer. Only squeegee over the letters, graphics and others...
Just look up how to do 2 color vinyl decals. Towards the end of the video, when they get to the transfer tape, you'll understand better than what I could write in this comment box.
Ai' conditioning - Hmmm. I'm perhaps just being picky but loosing most of a letter on the door gap would not really be what I wanted. Sure people would work out what it meant - but I would be worried that people would assume my attention to detail on THEIR project was going to be no better than I tolerated on MY van. Useful info though, thank you.
Would make more sense for that brand to put Biggerstaffs lettering on top instead of Biggerstaff(missing s) as both letter says Biggerstaffs at the bottom lol
Plenty of mistakes here. You folded it to get your Centre mark, how were you certain the application tape was evenly cut at either end from the actual graphic? You left no tape at the ends for reference so you could've gone up or down when you pulled the graphic to the ends. You should've taped through the middle that way it's not moving, rather than taping at the top on one end, that's just silly
Thanks for the comment. We have never done wet installs because you need to wait at least 24 hours before pulling the transfer tape back for warranty. We don't have time for that. Bubbles go away within 30 days. People doing person project where they don't apply vinyl every day and have the time to wait it would be great.
With the right water to soap ratio there may be a 10 minute waiting period with a final squeege with ZERO bubbles and no warranty issues(complaints)for vinyl. Really depends on the graphic material, job and experience level but it can be done quickly with vinyl, no issues. I've been doing it for 12 years. Never had warranty issues. 1080 is done dry or any air release type graphic is done dry.

I gave this a thumbs down, NOT for your install, but for the graphic designers back at the computer. This is a big graphic, meant to be informative while parked or in traffic. The van surface is a given, use it. The biz name letters could have been better spaced (kerning) to avoid spanning the door crack. Also the features: plumbing, heating, air conditioning, could have been stacked in a larger font size for more emphasis.
THE SOUND ! THAT SH*** MICROPHONE! .... ..... How the hell did you posted it like that?! ... And why the heck did you cut "rs" ..? Those 2 mm nobody can see.

I'dove it slightly to the left....Better not to cut into the smaller letters on Air Coditioning. The big "R" has a lot more vinyl and will hold better when you curl it around behind the edge.
