How To: Athearn RTR SD45T-2 Tsunami2 Part 1 - Installation

I am sharing with you my process as I installed a Soundtraxx Tsunami2 EMD2 PNP sound decoder board with Soundtraxx Minicube speakers in series in one of my personal engines. Athearn Ready to Roll DCC Ready Cotton Belt SD45T-2 Bicentennial.
This is the decoder installation only with mention of some light programming and I will upload a more thorough programming video of this locomotive at a later time.
I do want to thank my nephew Bryson for holding the camera while I do not have a tripod to capture this process. I do apologize that some of the video will be sideways and upside down as he tried to catch everything I was doing since my hands were constantly in the way. Enjoy!
CV's Programmed to fix lighting and changing the address from default:
Address Long 9389
CV31 - 16
CV32 - 1
CV51(fx3) - 2 (Mars Strobe)
CV57 - 5
CV58 - 2
CV259 - 0

How did you get the front coupler out without removing the plow?

Coupler box slides right out

This SD45T-2 is an older model. Released around 2006 to 2008 I think. I do not know how the new ones are put together. Sorry.

@@TheTrainFreak It's fine, I believe I have the same model. Now I need to figure out how to remove the fuel tank. My locomotive is missing an air tank and I want to know what to do when get a new one.

My fuel tank slide off pretty easy. Do you still have the paperwork that came with your loco. Might look at your parts diagram.

What size were the speakers? I see there are different sizes

These were Soundtraxx Mini Cube Speakers. 16x12x11.3(D)mm Part #810154 These have to be wired in series.

Thanks, not my best video quality since I didn't have a GoPro with a mount at the time and had to depend on my teen nephew with 0 camera experience.

SSWtrainfreak86 ok thank you I asked because I got rid of an old Athearn board and could not find a direct factory replacement...I assume this trick can work for any dcc decoder board?
