Follow on question - what knot would you use to tie my new precision furling asymmetric spinnaker to the head swivel and the furler? I have a Selden GX15. thanks!

There are a few options for you. You could use a twist shackle, Halyard Hitch or a Bowline. I would say it depends on your confidence in knot tying.

I use a halyard hitch rather the bowline. The halyard hitch is a knot specifically designed to attach halyards to shackles and sail heads.

I agree Frank, bowlines are not great if there is no tension on the knot. For the CDI furler a bowline works ok because it remains under tension. CDI suggested the bowline in this case because it is for a trailerable boat and he will be removing the sail often, the bowline is easier to undo than the halyard hitch.
