HOW TO ATTACH LEADERS TO LIGHT AND MICRO SLOW AND FAST JIGS
Following the video we made on attaching leaders to slow and fast jigs I thought this video needed to be made because light and micro jigging have a wider audience base and the likelihood of people getting this connection wrong is higher in this segment than in the bigger stuff.
There are also some differences and things you can get away with the lower you go in weight as the drags and lines classes you are using as well as the targets get smaller - some of these things are not practical when used with the bigger stuff.

This is confirmation of how I do my rigs. Thank you for this educational show, I learn a lot and inspired now to tie my own assist hooks. I have not yet invested in the material. What are your thoughts on using a regular vice rather than the fly tool vice for holding my hooks?

fly tying vice are made to hold hooks...much like how you don't use your axe to go fishing, although you can technically catch fish with your axe, using proper fishing gear makes things easier...but hey...you might be an axe throwing expert and could make it work. :)

Thanks for the follow-up Kit. Quick question: recently I've been using and getting success / enjoying the Shout! Shotel jigs. I'm on the yak, so have only used the 100g and 160g versions. They push it as a "jack of all trades" kind of jig, and that's how I've been using it - bouncing around near the bottom and getting hits, and also ripping it up in fast spurts and getting pelagics too. So...does it matter if I rig it like a slow jig or a fast jig if I'm doing both on the same drop? (I'm using SOB Ocean Snap onto the jig eye, because I have hooks at both ends). Hey, there's something you could have mentioned at the end, using the Ocean Snaps instead of those thin wire clips.

How you rig a jack of all trades jig depends on the shape - the pesche from sea falcon is another one of these jigs - I opted to rig it as a fast jig because of its shape, if i was to rig the shotei, id rig it like a slow jig but only put the hooks on top and not put hooks on the bottom. And of course you can use an ocean snap :) - i didnt mention thr ocean snap because its not easy to get outside of a few places - but i will make a video specifically on the snaps and track splitrings soon :)

I was thinking of idea to use steel split ring, attach one to lure and add assist hook to it and solder it closed. One ring and done. Simple and clean and less hardware. 😏

you can I suppose, but you would have a hell of a time making assist hooks for it. just make sure the hooks are in the right orientation - it's not the first time this has been thought of - will not be the last time the idea has been abandoned after either. :)

@@TheFishingKit I already have pre-made assist hooks that have a loop on them. So that part would be easy, just slide onto the ring. I just found metal glue that's water proof and low temp core solder. Will try with both and see which has more breaking strength. 😁 Anyways, keep up the great videos and helping everyone out! 😊
