Hello guys, In this video I show you guys how to use autofocus on your canon rebel t6. I had a little trouble doing this when I first tried so I thought this would be a good video to make since I probably am not the only one. This will may work with other cameras as well; however, I am using the Canon rebel t6 in this video. I hope this video was helpful!

Seems to me if you need to push a button to focus it, it isn't autofocus anymore.

Yeah I get that too. autofocus means without pushing anything. I guess canon lied about that part. That’s why I use a Sony camera or a gopro 😂😂

So it basically auto-focus like it does with photos (when you flip the mirror down, otherwise its incredibly faster, but not as precise). Some people buy this camera for youtube, and it is clearly not good for that. I think a point and shooter with constante (and silent) auto-fucos is a far better option, and those normally track movement and faces too. I have a T6 that I never tried to make any movie. Outstanding camera for photos, especially for its price, but its clearly not for videos.

Deyvson Moutinho Caliman I agree with this complete, it’s definitely meant for photos not video. If you absolutely need to take video & that’s all you have, that’s when this video becomes helpful.

Yeah i just bought a rebel series camera and I thought I was going to be able to shoot good video for vlogging, and its clear I cant. Having to hit the focus button constantly is mot what i was expecting, and its so loud. So Ill just use this for taking photos, and find a camera that will always keep focus without me hitting anything, and have super good quality also. Anything anyone recommend?

Sadly this is definitely not the camera you want if you want to do both videography/photography... I was very disappointed on how loud the focus was and the fact that canon couldn’t just put the quick (silent) auto focus into the camera. The canon T6i does have the nice auto focus that does not require using the shutter button. In the case of photography it’s an incredible camera for starters. Images turn out really clear and sharp. I would recommend this camera only for photography.

Very effective video...but It is very very slow to be focus on an object even in full daylight.....But this DSLR is perfect for photography..

Great video. This camera is really only designed to do video from a stable tripod on a fixed object (i.e. vlogging, etc). Definitely not a "dynamic" camera for video, but it does take some awesome shots for a cheaper camera.

Okay for some reason mine won't autofocus I've got it set up just like you're saying to do and it's not working, wonder what I'm doing wrong or is there something else that I need to do on the camera to set this up? AI servo mode will continuously focus when subject is moving towards the camera in movie mode? Or you have to press focus again? I also have T6!

As much as I wish I knew this before, the t(number) series of cameras are canons budget photo cameras, but the t(number)i ex. T7i, T2i, are canons budget video cameras

ya, kinda unfortunate. I have gone through all the options and it doesn't seem there is a way to autofocus with physically pressing the button. If you were to get a bluetooth shutter attachment, you could hold it in your hand if you're interested in vloging or something like that, though

Hey, as I am almost completely a noob to this camera and subject, I overlooked a thing that surely is 101-Basics, and that is: turn on the side-lens switch of AF. Mine was all this time in MF and was driving me crazy. Hope you not.

no its the regular t6, you should defiantly have that button available. are you sure you don't have an older model?

The T6 is not designed for video. That's why they have a T7 and higher models.

It's called auto iso. the iso makes the picture brighter. You can go into manual mode but that's more advanced

I'm not too familiar with Canon products so I may not be 100% correct. Turn the wheel on the top of your camera to M (Manual). It should bring up a screen that has a bunch of option to change shutter speed, ISO, aperture and more advance setting. If that dosent work i sugest looking up, "How to change Canon Rebel T6 to manual mode". I hope this helps

Scrunchy AZ Mom download the canon app that allows you to use your laptop or monitor as a viewfinder and you can auto focus through the monitor when you're recording
