@@sj-rz7zj you don’t, make a focus, do all the stuff you want and then at the last bit it gives you an option to customise the app layout, choose the one you want and then that’s it (first you have to make the right app layout and then hide the screen)
what id recommend doing is adding another page & making the icons through shortcuts w the different style you want, hide that page from your current home page, then (in the focus settings for your new wallpaper theme) select home screens, turn on custom pages & add your new icon page or pages. then the icons will change too. sorry if i didn’t explain tht well lmao
This was helpful but I’d like to know, how do you ALSO change the widgets? If I’m in my personal focus, I want to have different widgets that my homework focus. How do I do that?
Once you create the focus before you press done, the are ‘options’ under options there is Home Screen press that and ‘custom pages’ should come up turn that on and then click the pages you want with your wallpaper

This worked for me after many other confusing tutorials I found elsewhere. Thank you! Turned out that the "show preview" was an issue for me before, and I had no idea where to find it to turn off the switch so thank you for the clarity.
It doesn't work the way it's supposed to anymore. It always asks me to set a new wallpaper manually. If I turn of the notifications it doesn't change the wallpaper at all.
Do you mean the wallpaper didn't change? I had a similar issue when I tried putting a landscape orientation photo into the album - I think it works best when you have a wallpaper-sized image (i.e. vertical). Give that a try and let me know how you get on!

“there was a problem running the automation” is the notification i get when i choose the wallpaper and idk how to fix it. i somehow managed to sort of fixed it but now it only works when im inside the shortcut app and not via the focusses
Very cool! I made two new focuses, but I have one small issue. Whenever I try to switch to another focus the background doesn’t change and just stays the same as the focus I was on before. Kinda irritating
Never mind. Found out what the problem was, honestly a real bummer that you can’t have two pictures in the same album thing. Well anyways this was a huge help! I have been trying to do this for a long time and this helped a lot! Thank you :)
Using this method, can you also set the new built-in wallpaper (with the little light saber looking bulbs)? I guess the only option might be to download and import the corresponding live pictures?
I find that your instructional video you turn something that was relatively simple into something very complex. You can assign an unassigned wallpapers by simply going to your focus settings or wallpapers and the selecting the assigned focus
It’ll only change when the focus mode is turned on unlesss you create another Shortcut for when the Focus is Disabled using your original Wallpaper. So when you go onto Personal Automation, then select your Focus Mode, you need to create one for it being Turned On and one for it being Turned Off. Hope that makes sense?
@@marvelsuperfanok158 It's literally the same shortcut you made except when focus is disabled. Like when you started to make the shortcut it asked "when turning on" or "when turning off". You literally click the other one.

this tutorial gives depth in information and explains really well with how to do it, great tutorial but i can’t seem to change the wallpapers automatically even when i followed everything in your video, it won’t work for me and it’s so frustrating because when i turn the mode on, it will switch the wallpapers but when i turn it off, the original wallpaper won’t come back

You explained this so well! When you turn off the focus mode, will the wallpaper go back to what you had before? Or will you have to set up another automation to undo it?

Exactly my query when I went through my setup, which worked perfectly… up to the point when I dropped out of a focus mode to go back to ‘normal’ and was faced with the specific focus wallpaper. I had suspected as much as the shortcuts steps just create a new wallpaper, but need to ‘learn’ that I want my old one back after a while. Thanks for a good video and confirming what I had suspected (still fairly new at incorporating shortcuts in my phone/iPad routines).
This was super helpful!! But now I’ve found another problem!! The bottom task bar where u can put like a couple of apps that u use regularly doesn’t change with the focus so how can I ensure it changes with the focus when I do switch between them? Example: I have a persona 5 focus and a genshin impact focus, when I change between them the bottom 4 apps stay the same and if I delete them they just don’t exist for either focus Hope u reply!!
10 months late but I had a similar issue. an easy solution is just to create a seperate hidden page where you can 'store' the icons for seperate focuses. so for example I have a project sekai theme and a berserk theme, and each time I switch I just pull out the hidden page and swap them out. hope this helped even though I'm so late to reply.

hi! thank you so much for the very clear tutorial, but i only have one issue :( i don’t know why my lock-screen keeps zooming in whenever i change my focus!!!! i tried using the preview option to fix it but after i did, it wouldn’t change to anything and the lock-screen would switch to that wallpaper regardless of the focus and just stay like that after i change the focus. i also have perspective zoom off. i also adjusted it from settings and it wouldn’t stay like that after changing the focus. i hope i’m not doing anything wrong:(

Is there an updated version of this? I used this video in the past and it was very helpful. I needed a refresher on how to do it and while I was following the tutorial I noticed there were some different things in the current version of shortcuts, mainly towards the end steps.
I have a problem - when I change to a focus and the wallpaper changes, and I change back to another focus the wallpaper doesn’t change. e.x: I switch to gym focus, the wallpaper switches, but when I switch back to work focus, the wallpaper doesn’t change. I’ve tried everything! I’ve even added the “when turned off” automation but it still doesn’t work. I would appreciate it if you help.

nice video! I just have two things that are a bit off for me. Firstly, there's like a 1-2 second delay from when I turn focus mode on to when it actually changes wallpaper. And secondly, I keep getting a notification from shortcuts app telling me that the shortcut is currently running. How should I fix this??

@Maura you will have to go to your Shortcuts ➡ Automation ➡ Edit Automation (Where you set your Wallpaper). Then Tap on "Do" section and you will see an arrow right icon under "Set Lock Screen and Home Screen wallpaper to Photos". From there, you toggle and turn on "Show Preview"

You’re very welcome! I’ve made a tutorial for changing the Home Screens when Focus changes (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J2UxHS4Oenw.html) and you can easily adapt this by using your custom icons on each Home Screen. Then when Focus changes you’ll only see the Home Screen with your custom icons on. Hope that helps!

When i tried to do this with an old background, it didn't work and i lost it, but it wasn't that great of a background so it's ok lol. My phone is updated to IOS 15.5 so it must work. Thanks for the help, it was really useful :)

But how do I turn it off? when I turn all The focus’s off the wallpaper is still there. How do I make it to the wallpaper before I turned the focus on and only when I turn the focus on a diff wallpaper shows up?

hello i did the exact steps you did in the video, and my wallpaper is not changing. i did do another focus with a pure black wallpaper and it is active but when i switch the focus to the one that i made my second wallpaper to be it still wont change so im not sure if its my first wallpaper effecting it.

When I initially click on the focus it does change the background to the photo I want but it also changes my main background keep it same photo when not in the focus why does it do that?
