Your orchids are beautiful and your tips are really useful. How simple they are but I’ve never thought of such a clear solution to avoid buds blast, thank you!
Beautiful Orchids, I live in Dubai, I lost my Orchids, I guess I didn't know much how to take care, but now watching your beautiful video I know I can, Tyvm for this video and for explaining so well, God bless you.
Emaan, thanks so much for sharing your information. I love finding people who share my passion for orchids and other house plants. I am DEFINITELY going to use your tips on making my own orchid medium! That’s the best and it will shave me a lot of money. I also appreciate the fact that you purchase the $1 orchids from Lowe’s and Home Depot! 😂 that’s actually how I started this orchid addiction. I still purchase those and have also ventured out to purchasing oncidiums, dendrobiums and other types of orchids. I love your channel and will keep watching to see what other tidbits of info you have that I can use for my collection. ❤️🌸🌺💐🌷
+Peaches FutureNP you are always welcome. I’m very happy that I opened my channel and talking with people who love plants . I have only one friend whome I see once a week , talk about the flowers and exchange plants with each other . And none of my friends is interested in planting and growing. We don’t have in my state other types of orchids . We have only phals. But recently I saw in Lowe’s vanda orchids. They are expensive $35. Or is that good price for those orchids? I never bought them before. I wanna have some other types of orchids too. I have fake oncidium orchid in my bathroom ( yellow, so pretty) . In which state are you? Are they available in your local stores? And do they put those orchids on sale sometimes? Thank you. I appreciate your comment.
I have been watching you for about 2 months now and saw the video when you rescued your mini orchids($1.00 ones) and I can believe how happy you must be, how big and beautiful! And now you have the reward of the beautiful flowers! Surprise they are most of them different colors for you. I am sure that the orchids you got today will also be well cared for and hopefully you can get Keikis from the ones that you won’t be able to save... I’m sure you will be rewarded either way. Because I just started with really watching videos to learn how to care for them, I got my 2nd orchid around Christmas. My 1st one died cuz I didn’t know how to properly care for it! 😥 Now I have 1 more large and a mini also. Like you I love to propagate my plants and my grandmother taught me 1st time I propagate when I was 12. I learned with African violets. We used to propagate through aluminum foil with little holes and place in cup of water. These way you keep leaves dry( always long stem). I am so happy to find your channel! I am learning a lot from you about all your different plants and how you are so good with them!👍 I am also glad you tell and explain in depth your care for them in the different ways. Thank You! You are the BEST!!
+Sheri Leger thank you very much for your comments. I really appreciate that you found time to write a comment. Not everyone can do it. I love your comments. Now I know that I have a subscriber friend just like me loving propagating plants. I started growing plants from my young ages when I was 2 nd grade student at school. I learned from my mom. She still has hundreds of indoor and outdoor plants ( rare plants). Her house is like paradise. I’m glad to hear that people like my explanations. Sometimes I can’t find proper words in English to explain. But I am doing my best. Thank you all again
Hi i been watching you in yutube repeatedly, i live in fort Mac Murray alberta , and it is so dry here, i just bought mu orchids few months ago , or almost a year. I transplanted it from moss to bark there were, lots of roots before and all healthy after few weeks i got some flower stem and buds bit i noticed that the leaves are getting leathery. When i checked the roots its all rotten only one root left on my 2 orchids what should i do? Pls help me thanks
Your comment about rooting African violets reminded me of my grandmother. She taught me the same thing - aluminum foil and keep the leaves dry. I am just starting to get back to growing houseplants. Only one violet for now but looking forward to propagating.
I love your videos Im just falling in love with orchids again and I need all the help I can get. I love that you truly understand the plants and their needs. All the plants you rescue become very happy and beautiful. I will be following you and hopefully my babies will be as happy as yours are. Thank you so much for your time and knowledge.
Thanks for all your help and information about your orchids and how to fix the problems that they have. I have learnt so much from you. So happy to have subscribed to your channel. Keep up all the good work you do. Kirsty, New Zealand.
+Dinah Hughes thank you very much for loving the video. From your comments I know that I am doing something good. Yes, I love using turkey buster for watering my plants especially African violets
Thank you. I think you do a great job of showing each orchid and describing how to water them. I am glad you like the orchids at Trader Joe's. I just bought 2 orchids at Schnucks for very low prices. When I looked at the mini orchid I could see it was planted all in spagnum moss and the moss did not smell good. I am trying to repot both orchids today. The way you teach gives me hope to learn. Thank you for your wonderful time on camera. I want to see all of the videos that you do, so I have subscribed.
I love your $1.00 orchids. Thank you for your clear explanations. I especially like your low cost solutions. Would you do a video on humidity- cheaply.
Emaan! This video is very good. I should have had my hand on it much earlier :( now I know and understand why all my roots are dead rotten: drank too much to fast. Trials and errors. Now most of my orchids have no more roots and are in ICU to make new roots. I might go full water culture now when I start seeing new roots coming out.
Thanks for your informative video. It was very detailed and I have learnt how to better get big beautiful blooms. Keep up the great job. Your orchids are gorgeous. Cheers and happy growing.
Thank you so much. Beautiful orchid and excellent video as usual. Very easy to understand and follow. One question, do you ever have any pest like mealybug or spider mites on your orchid since all came from the store and some are much neglected. How did you treat them? Thank you again. Love your video!
Haha wow they bought u a lot of orchids 😊 your going to need a bigger house to put all these orchids 😊 they are very beautiful congratulations on your new orchids.
Thank you ! so much great information about choosing orchids ...and rehabilitating them...' slowly, slowly' little sips as they relearn how to take in nourishment.
Thank you for the video, your orghids are beautiful. I love your no fuss approach and that you grow your orchids in your house. Would you please consider making a video on light levels that your orchids receive?
Adele Theron thank you very much. My orchids receive only day light. In the morning I open the curtain, from 7 am till it gets dark outside they see daylight. And I don’t even use humidifier or measurements . Ok, some day I will make video about that
I like your presentation very detail oriented and thank you for sharing video. I am very interesting your great idea and very helpful and will follow your instruction. Since you put a small amount of water for new orchid from a store, how long and how often do you have to do this? Congratulation Emman on your beautiful & healthy orchids and I loved them :) !!
I love that one with the small yellow with pink center blooms from Trader Joe's. I saw some pretty ones at Walmart last night. They were $15. My grocery store sometimes puts theirs on reduced price but so far their reduced price isn't reduced enough for me.
+Kyra D thank you for comment. The Lowe’s makes clearance on flowers and on orchids after they finish blooming all the time. If you want plants with the reduced price you have to check often there. And even in home depot store also
@@EmaansGarden I do a lot of clearance plant shopping at Lowe's in the summer because they clearance a lot of perennials here and I love a bargain! I need to go check out their houseplant area!
The orchid with the black discoloration on the stem and leaves, you will need to isolate immediately. It could be black rot, which can affect your whole collection. I don't want to scare you, but just make you aware. Google black rot on orchids. Good luck, you have some beautiful blooms.
+Margaret East thank you for advice. Yes you are right I have to be careful. I know what is black rot. Sometimes it happens with my African violets. But in this orchid it is not black rot it’s just a mold ( in green houses when it is too much humid plants have green molds and by the time it turns black) I will clean it as soon as possible
As always, you show your beautiful orchids. You mentioned that you did not know the names for most of them. I suggest you download an app named PlantSnap. You take a close picture of the flower or leaf (if it is a shrub or a leafy plant), submit it and someone will post the name. It is important to know the names of our plants. This way, you can research when you come across a problem with your plant. Anyway, they are like our children and you would not want your children to grow without a name. Would you? You can write the name down and place it as a caption, if you find it difficult to pronounce it.
Thanks for giving such nice & informative vedio.one thing I want to know-if your pots have got holes in bottom only or all around the wall of the pots. What is correct method.if holes are only at the bottom then how the roots will get oxygen/aireted.
@ Emaan's Garden - Yes, I too would love to know the answer to this question as in Australia I cannot find any ''Orchid pots'' that have holes in the sides. But as I have seen other people recommend holes to be in the sides so that the orchids can ''breathe'' (and as my 1st orchid had badly rotting roots) I'm wondering if I should now carefully drill my own holes in the clear plastic pots I can find. Is this necessary? Thank you for another interesting video :)
@@tarn_js00 there is a lovely woman @Jacolyn that grows orchids in Canada. She does exactly what you asked about - drills holes in containers - to get air to the roots. Take a look at some of her videos, very informative. I hope this hey you or perhaps another orchid enthusiast.
Hi, I am a new subscriber, love your channel. I noticed you only grow phals, also is that pulmeria I saw in your dining room? How do you care foreign indoors?
+Augyanna Facey welcome to my channel. Thank you for comments. Yes, I grow phals and also want to have Vanda orchids. That is plumeria which you saw. I made couple of videos about my plumeria plant also. You can watch them. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M6jgqMo11iw.html
Emaan thank you for the videos on Orchid care and the medium preparation very interesting and educational. A quick question can I use this medium for any type of plant or only for Orchids. I have a variety of indoor and outdoor plants and would like to use this medium for all my plants. Please advise Appreciate
Annie Fernandes this medium you can use for adeniums, hoyas and other types of orchids. But for acid loving plants this medium is not good. Because it contains wood charcoal which cuts the acidity.
Hi, Since I'm new to your channel, it's the first time I've seen a channel in English, but I really liked how you teach your orchids and I wanted to ask you if I can combine epsom salt with orchid fertilizer and how often should I water them? and that will help me to give flowers new leaves And root or will only help me for flowering I would appreciate it if you help me muchss thanks
+Erika Lopez Hi,welcome to my channel. If you water your orchids every week or more often , you can make weaker fertilizer. If you water like I do every two weeks then you can add fertilizer to your water every time you water . This fertilizer will help the entire plant. It is not only for blooming. You are always welcome!🌺
So beatiful orchids...
+Emaan's Garden. OMYGOD Emaan all of your Orchids are BEAUTIFUL!!💖 I started trying to care for Orchids last year but lost three of them. I always buy mini Orchids from Stop & Shop because they are so cute and they look healthy til I get them home and they end up suffering root rot and bud blast. I have three mini ones and so far they're ok. I never knew Trader Joe's and Lowe's have such beautiful healthy looking Orchids, and OMYGOD they're at Lowe's for $1, now I'm obsessed!! Thank you so much for your watering advice by the way, I too soak them for 5 minutes but now I will water them the way you to. Have a blessed day Emaan.💖🙏🙏🙏
+Latha Raju you are welcome. If the medium is ok and there’s no bugs I can leave them. I see from roots if I have to repot or not. But the ones which are in sphagnum moss I will repot soon. Because the moss is very compacted and the roots can decay if I leave as is.
+Suhad Mahdi After long time blooming they get tired and if you don’t feed them properly they will not look shiny. Try to give them shower sometimes. Or put them under the rain and feed them as I do. They have to shine soon if you do this .
@@EmaansGarden I know that I would very much love to see how you fertilize (and do you use different types of fertilizer?). All of your orchids in your videos are so beautiful and as I am only just starting out I would be grateful of any help that you can give such as with fertilizing - and I'm sure others would be too :)
+Stuart Kaufman I the medium is ok( no bug, no diseases) I don’t transplant my new orchids. If you wanna transplant you can do it at least after 2 weeks. It is for winter season. In summer any time you can transplant after bringing it home.
I don’t understand, in the beginning of your video some of your orchids were dripping wet from their containers when you pulled them out. The in the end you say not to water too much or you can cause root rot? Which is it? Also, I have always been told never to fertilize while the plant is still in bloom? Have you ever heard of taking egg shells and put them in the oven for a few minutes and then blend them to a powder and sprinkle onto the plant, the calcium from the shells is supposed to be very good for the plant?
+Sandee Roberts probably you didn’t watch the video carefully. I said when I brought them home I watered them slowly like I showed at the end of the video , because some pots were extremely dry. And after three weeks ( it was that day when I fertilized them and gave good drink and food) I watered them like as I usually do with my other orchids . As come to the fertilizer I do it. I wanna make a video about that and talk
+bootstrap garden thank you for watching my videos and asking questions. Keike paste is used to propagate orchids from flower spikes and also we can use for african violets to propagate them from flower spikes
Which eye dropper? Do you mean turkey buster with which I watered the mini orchids? If you mean that,It is available in any store. You can find even from dollar store
Simple way to avoid bud blast Buy a orchid that has only a few buds usually best to buy the one with bigger buds For root rot don't over water after watering leave on draining board
+Phuong Tran thank you. For me there is no difference. Whenever I have time I water them. And they grow same. There is no certain rule for the growing plants. But when the plants outside( in summer )I like watering them in the evening, because the water doesn’t evaporate fast and the plants have enough time to drink and also the leaves become stronger ...
