Hello, have found you when looking for a DIY orchid meduim mix. I am very impressed and love how well you show and explain what you are demonstrating. Watching you I am sure I will learn a lot. I am in South africa.
20:28 This video was very helpful I’m working with first orchid. It’s having problems. I repotted it the center new leaf is splitting and I’ve lost a leaf and maybe losing another one there is only two leaves left and one is splitting.
I have followed your advice and prepared your Violet mix to find great results/success for wick watering in 4 inch pots. Some of my plants were so happy and the leaves spanned more than 8 inches wide BUT NOW many are suffering from very dry potting soil even though the wick is still in place. I think the plants are pot-bound, and the leaves are limp. What do you recommend I do? Do I have to start over? Scrape off old roots? Is there a RU-vid video?
Hey Emman, I always love your videos. Your plants are beautiful and like me they make me happy when they bloom . I get excited when I have a sick plant and I nurse it back to health. You're so inspiring please make a video on probagating the ZZ plant and what type of soil is better for Hoya plants. Take care and be well. Patrice from Virginia...
Thank you so much. I have learned so much from you. I now can save my over watered Violet. I will do it right now. I will let you know ow how it turns out. I also saved a piece of Styrofoam to hold my Violet. Have a great day, thank you.
Hi. Just watched your video and thank you so much for I know nothing about caring for orchids and I discovered that I have bugs one. I’m going to spray with alcohol and clean off the bugs and see if that happens. Wish me luck…I enjoyed the video and your patience 😊
Thanks so much for making this series of videos on African violets. I have learned so much, most importantly, I have learned everything that I have been doing wrong. Maybe I can correct these mistakes now and have healthy plants. Thanks again.
I suggest that you to let us see the step by step, you show what you already did, I don’t know if I should put holes on top of the bottles that’s covering the stalks…Bad info, too much talking things that doesn’t contain the informations of the step by step…
Thank you for the good video. Great teacher! I learned a lot, especially the mini baby one to grow in the sphagnum moss with its own roots or cut the roots to grow new roots in water. Thank you so much!
Hi! I hope you’ll be able to help! I tried this method a week ago and I’m noticing some leaves are turning yellow. Any reason for this? I followed your exact steps.

Hi Emaan, thank you so much for an oustanding in deoth video with the results.. I'm a beginner and just got some new rex begonias that leaves got damaged when shipped. I will now try your method with the soil, vermiculite & perlite which I have at home. I've learnt so much and can't wait to watch the rest of your videos. Thank you so much and please keep on making these videos.❤
Been doing this for years. Problem is too many now. Keep giving plants away after inheriting my Mums large collection. It's too addictive. Now i cant throw away any leaves.
Thank you for the training. I have been using your mix and all your ideas for the past three years. My African Violets are large, healthy, and frequently blooming. Some plants are as large as 8 inches wide. I use your soil mix recipe and fill a 4-inch pot, bury the acrylic yarn wick, and place it on top of a cut-down soda pop bottle, to hold the rainwater or melted snow. Since my plants are 8 inches wide, I cut clear plastic pop bottles at various heights to stagger the potted plants under each other saving table space. I always add a few Dollar Tree smooth stones into the pop bottle for weight since the potted African Violet can be top-heavy. In time, the clear plastic bottles will grow algae and I wash the stones and bottles out with soapy water. Sometimes, the wicks rot out and need to be replaced. The best thing about this wick-watering system is that I can travel for 2-3 weeks, at a time, and I don't need to have someone water my plants. I found the taller the pop bottle, the greater the water reservoir, therefore the less handling makes a more beautiful flowering specimen.
