Sorry to break your heart or if this sounds mean but its not all abt having fun with them. It takes alot of responsibility to take care of pets. Especially if they’re dogs or cats and not a small animal. If you already dealed with a dog it might be fun but it depends.
Great video! I would like to get more into pet siting. I do it every now and then but I would love to do it more. I am actually doing a home visit now. 😊🐶😊🐶
It's so so so hard to get an animal-related job! I totally feel your frustration! I've used Cat in a Flat for a while, and found it to be pretty good... it's not completely reliable, but I get at least one sitting a month or so. I'd really love to set up my own pet-sitting business when I have a more permanent house, so thanks for making this video! it's really useful!!!
I’m seventeen years old and I really want to be a pet sitter in my apartment building but I have no clue what I need to do to get started oh and I live in the United States. Help me please
Thank you so much for making this video. I have been doing petsitting now for 10years and I still learnt a few tips & tricks of what to do next for my business. It is very reassuring to hear the points you mentioned, as I follow them aswell and over the years i see which work best for my business and others that needs more time or amendments. What is DBS, (is it like a background check to see if you have a criminal record?) PS. Great job with the editing and transistion. It keeps the viewer (me) engaged the whole way through.
Im in 6th grade and i have the option to go ti puerto rico in the summer of 2022 and im trying ti earn money with my friend so i can go with the rest if my classmates. So this vid helps alot:)
Hi my name is Rachel I just watched your video I just wanted to tell you that I have a respite sitter named Holli that’s definitely older than me and she’s a pet/house sitter so she stays at people’s houses mostly and if her jobs are local and it’s on a day that she’s with me i help her out she calls me her “little assistant” and she says I’m a dog magnet dog whisperer a lot of the different pets I help her with they love me and she pretty much pays me in sweatshirts or shirts she has made with her logo on the back!
just going to say since you were wanting an animal related job before starting your business, its all about contacts. you can do as much volunteering and classes as you want, but if the place you are applying to has no idea who you are, they wont trust you enough to consider you. animal related jobs are so competitive that a good chunk of applicants start working for their dream job as early as possible, even as young as 12-13. you shouldn't feel bad about not being considered, if you didn't make it it just wasn't meant to be. :)
Insurance isn’t just about how you feel about bad things happening it’s to cover you for other things like a dog biting someone else on a walk and you being sued
Is it really that hard to get clients 😢 I really want to start, I have all the time in the world, no responsibility’s and live in the UK My best bet is signing up to tailster and rover but now I’m afraid I won’t get any clients…
Depends where you live! I know people who started after COVID and because everyone got so many dogs and cats during that time they have all the clients.
I’m 17 I would love to be a cat sitter but in the UK you have to be 18. I don’t understand why I can babysit children at this age but I can’t look after someone’s cat! What
i want to be a fur baby sitter for dogs and cats i have 3 dogs and 2 cats and i can also train i love animals so much and since this corona virus my grandpa got layed off so i really need a job im 14 and tips?
Unforunately during the virus you won't be able to go into peoples houses and work. I'm currently not able to do so. I'm not sure if you will be able to get insurance if you are younger than 16 unfortunately so you may just have to stick to family and friends pets.
I’m not sure what country you’re in or the rules there but in the U.K. you need a licence from your local council to legally have pets stay in your house and it takes inspections to ensure your house is safe 🙂
the hand that rocks the DOG BED so my landlord had decided to sell my home after 15 years, i have had to temporary re home my dog while i am in temporary accommodation , i have had my dog rufus for over 3 years now , and have found somebody a family of 3 next to my friends house who have agreed to look after him , if i supply the food and visit as much as i can , I dropped him of on the Thursday, got enough food for the month to them on Friday , and came back today ( Sunday) i have just found out today that the man has been letting my dog in the bath with him , now is it just me or is that just weird ? my dog has never tried jumping in the bath with me, he sleeps next to it while im in it , this guy has carried him in to it i reckon ! I am lost for words 4 days in , i feel like they have jumped to conclusions that ill never be able to get him back so have accepted him as there own dog already , any thoughts ?
Never happened to me but I’d contact the emergency contact, if no reply they’d have to go into a rescue. Closest thing I had was an owner who was going in for an operation and she was scared she might not come out the other side, I loved her cats and told her as she had no one else I’d never leave them and would have taken them myself or found them a good home
Hello, Here from Australia...Im 12 and i want to become a pet sitter so i can earn some money to take better care of my newly adopted rats. Do you think a 12 year old is suitable for this job? Thanks :))))
Hello, unfortunately not on the same scale as most pet sitters. I’m not sure about Australia but I’m most cases you need to be 16 to get insurance and to do it safely to ensure that you and the animals you’re caring for are covered if anything goes wrong. You may have to stick to just pet sitting for friends and family until you’re old enough to get insurance ☺️
Do you have to get insurance and all the other stuff if you are just staying within your neighborhood/street? I was thinking of just making flyers and using word of mouth as I have dog sat before
I dog sit in people's homes and you're right, it can be isolating, but iI am an introvert so it's not so bad. I charge up to $100 a day depending on the situation. Most people are happy to pay the price.
This is a great video, thank you so much for sharing your experience! Can I ask how you were able to pet sit without being able to drive, though? Apparently using your own car for traveling to visits can really wear it down over time, so I'm trying to consider alternatives. Thank you so much, once again!
@@Emiology Alright, thanks so much for letting me know! I really appreciate the response and this was such a helpful and informative vid, once again ❤❤
I’ve tried dog sitting today but the dog is very aggressive and would not stop barking at me. I have to go back later to feed it but it wont even let me like 5 feet away from it bc it starts barking and tried to attack. What do I do?
Hi! I know I'm not emi lol but I'm also almost 13, and I am a pet sitter! It doesn't really matter what your age is as long as you're comfortable with the people and animals youre taking care of. I started by hiring someone to make a website :D I just listed all the pricing and contacts on the website and made the things I didnt want to do clear. There really isn't an age limit!
Thanks, that's really useful, I'm trying to earn as much money as possible before I leave home, I have already started a local bakery type thing and I'm still looking for other possible jobs and the reason I am trying to earn money is so that I can have small job with animals that dont pay very much, but that I enjoy.
