How to be Alone & Happy: Part 2 

So as some of you have already noticed, I have officially changed my channel name to Kevin’s Disobedience-a suggestion from Kurt S (check out his channel). While it is a nod to Thoreau’s Civil Disobedience-whom I love and am deeply influenced by-it also represents a lot of what I’m about and want to communicate on this channel: individualism, freethinking, self-reliance, experimentation, eclectic existential philosophy, etc. In a word, it’s about being in the world, in “nature,” the only way I know how-by myself and on my own terms. I’m planning to film a welcome to the channel video expounding on this further, but until then I hope this helps explain why I don’t just post axe content. I know it would be better for the algorithm and whatnot, but I don’t care about that. I just want to make videos I would want to watch. Anyway, more on that later, thanks for continuing to support me and this channel.

Finally noticed the channel's new name. Last time I was out in the woods I was with my dad. He showed me some cool stuff and spots with some stories sprinkled in about him growing up in the woods.

I noticed you pulled the trigger on the channel name change. I think it's a great choice. It looks like you are enjoying your trip, being alone doesn't always mean being lonely. Can't wait for the review on the new CT Hudson Bay axe. Esthetically, I prefer the original model but I suspect the new version will be functionally better. p.s I always cook with cast iron when camping and cooking outdoors. Love it.

G'day mate, just got back from a 3 day scout trip into an area of northern NSW called New England, where I whiled away the dark hours reading Thoreau, listening to rain on the tent. Got back into signal range and your in an area of USA seemingly called New England reading Thoreau at a cabin. Wtf! Loved this vid, that shot of katadyn and kayaking while reading the passage was cool. Keep it up mate!

Ain't nothing like the woods in the fall! We're actually on our way now to Michigan to watch the leaves change. Looking forward to a casual stroll!

I look forward to getting new ideas for reading material, my house is however, already overflowing with books so I probably shouldn't!!

Killer video as normal, there’s an awesome hike by a river by me called devils hole in north east PA most people only walk it to the first section where the river intersects the trail and turn and go back but if you’re up for an adventure it’s very rewarding to try and cross the river and continue on you definitely need a good part of a day to make the journey but after a few miles you’ll find you’re self at an amazing waterfall.

I can't seem to motivate myself to hike alone anymore. Unlike you I have 0 problem getting lost haha. The weather has been so mild. I think I'm getting the itch. Seems like everybody who loves hardwoods loves the fall. I'm spoiled with oaks so my favorite forests in the fall are filled with Beech.

Although I do like the written/read prose…you’re in a cabin! Not judging…you - we - all have stuff going on…on the West Coast - Pacific Northwest…we have many large creatures ( which may include the ‘Sasquatch-samsquantch-fuckin Yeti’…anyhoo…when out, I utilize my canoe as a 5 star room…don’t even need a pee-bottle!…keep up the great stuff, entertaining. Glad you got out there. I finally got a dozen wood arrows again for the hyper spendy custom longbow I got years ago. It's been rainy and snotty all day here in CT however , so I ended up testing it indoors . Cool idea I had: I made fletching water repellant by mixing COVID alcohol hand sanitizer with some dollar store Tire Shine (silicone). Poor man's Scotch Guard! . Yeah those old men walking dogs freak out and call 9-11 on me here when they see me with, OMG, a primitive weapon . I wonder if Thoreau ever saw a Bigfoot? Would he have invited him over for chow and beers, or, like a typical laconic New Englander, would he run to his "safe space"?
