The older you get you realize that what you wear definitely matters. Looking neat smelling good, getting your teeth cleaned, your hair being combed and neat (it doesn't need to be processed) etc. It definitely matters. First impressions are everything. When you're put together it sends a message to those around you that you woke up that morning and made an effort to be presentable. Just have uniforms that you wear. Know which colors suit you well. I dont feel comfortable in bright colors. I hate them. So I do not buy them. Earth tones for the win. Black and blue. Accessories as well can take an outfit to 1 to 10. You dont need much at all. Just knowing yourself and your body type is a good start.
I would agree that it does matter, but it's not everything, your appearance is just an appearance, and you shouldn't get too attached to it because it fades away with age You should be wearing clothes for yourself and yourself only, unless it's required to do otherwise If you like a minimal style wear that, if you like a sophisticated style wear that. Most people won't hear your message and if they do hear it they forget since they have their own lives to tend to I feel this is especially important for women, because so many of them are taught that their value is tied to how they look, which sets them up for despair in their later years Not everyone is shallow you know, even the people that are you shouldn't try so hard to impress them, the only person you should try to impress is yourself Except for hygiene you're right about that, it is literally your own body and it deserves to be taken care of, just don't go hypochondriac or anything :)
A rule of fashion I've always abided by: wear the clothes, don't let the clothes wear you. Regardless of how much the clothing or accessory item costs or doesn't cost, if someone doesn't have the confidence or the attitude to wear what they're wearing, it shows. You cannot just shove someone into a Gucci dress and expect them to look as good as the models do. Nor can you shove someone into a cheap, handyman's button down shirt and jeans and expect them to look good. Learn what you like to wear, what cuts, what fabrics, what colors, and apply it to your wardrobe. If you love something (a specific dress or shirt), buy two of it. If don't wear something for more than a year, donate it. But most importantly of all, STOP GOING TO THE CLOTHING STORES EVERY CHANCE YOU GET. They know how to market things to you that you don't even want and won't even look good in. Same with online stores. Stay off them. Build your fashion sense and then know how to stick up for it because this world will burn it down otherwise. Oh, and one last tip: it pays to do the math. Let's say you're buying a white, cashmere, winter sweater. Well, it's a winter item, so that means you can automatically only wear it about half the year. Next, it's cashmere. And cashmere isn't a durable fabric. And then, on top of that, it's white. So now you have an object that won't last more than 10 years, that will fade or stain after about 5, and that you can only wear for half a year. That means you're only going to get about 2.5 years out of that object, AT MOST. Is it a worthwhile investment then, if you are tight on spending money? Absolutely not. And if you don't know fabrics and qualities well enough to do that, simply do the basic math. How many times do you wear an item in a month? How much did that item cost? Now divide. (If you wear a shirt 4 times a month, and that shirt cost you $70... (4×12)÷70= $0.68 to wear that shirt.)
I completely agree. I used to buy a lot of fast fashion or a lot of statement pieces that I would wear once or twice or just wouldn’t go with anything in my wardrobe. But then I started to really understand myself and what I wanted to express in my clothing and made a mental checklist of pieces I wanted to add, the style I was going for and the colour scheme. I used to spend so much money on cheap clothing and still felt like I had nothing to wear, now I very rarely buy clothes anymore but have a huge variety of high quality pieces to match my mood or desired comfort level. It takes time, but I 100% recommend it. Plus I feel like I know myself more through taking the time to know what I wanted my clothes to say about me (my style crosses with and shifts between, autumn cottagecore, dark academia and casual Japanese vintage, which took me a long time to really narrow down), and I think they say a lot about my interests and past experiences... or maybe they don’t, but either way, they feel like me and make my day/life better 😊
I used to be that guy but over time I see why it's valuable it's another medium for self expression I still don't think I'd ever be the type of person to make my style the main focus though, conversation is always a better way to discover who someone is
After purging my closet of all my sisters, cousins, mother and grandmother’s (!!!) hand me downs I started looking at Pinterest and going thrifting almost daily. It was like a type of self care. I didn’t even realize how much finding your own style can change your view of your self.
This year I also came to the realisation that Fashion was actually really important and impacted you way more than comfort vs luxury. Just like writing, painting etc, it’s yet another outlet us wonderful humans have that we can use to express ourselves, it not only brings you security because you feel comfortable in your chosen garments, it brings creativity, expression in your everyday life, it’s as beautiful as the robes the monk cover themselves in and telling as the pants the painter sports
I never really cared about the things I wear. But last week I had to buy a blazer for an event. And when I saw myself in the mirror I wondered why don't care about clothes, because it looked really nice.
My goal is to be dressed everyday like I'm meeting with the person that I love and respect the most 💝 I'm still a beginner rn with my self-image but there is no shame in being a beginner:)🌻wish me luck!
I'm so pleased to have found this channel. Not only does the calming ambiance help with my anxiety, but I feel as though I learn something each time too! Keep it up, love from Ireland 🇮🇪
This has really great advice, I'm a pretty young lad, so it's nice to know that there's a person that can lead my life into something I want to be this early.
I couldn't agree more with your statement on quality & lifetime of a piece of clothing. Also, even if you own a few fast fashion garments, I believe taking good care of them can be a good thing in order to avoid creating more waste and have them in your wardrobe for longer. For instance sewing, washing and drying according to how the material should be. Of course, it will wear down way faster than a higher quality piece would, but i think it can be something to consider as well.
A much needed advice especially when you look around at the mismatch style of clothing people wear because it's trendy. People need to do more self discovery is what is key.
I agree that fashion is a self-discovery. It is personal. It says a lot about yourself. 💛 This is the reason why I am getting interested to fashion as well. I really want to dress like a school girl uhm like Rory Gilmore, Anne of Green Gables and Hermione Granger... and Ruby Granger but with my favorite colors and accessories too! AaaaaAa theres so much more.
Amen! I’ve always been into fashion and aesthetics. Now as a knitwear designer, I am even more keen to looking put together and observing how others dress themselves.
I loved this video! I too am very interested in fashion, although I am not a fashion expert as well! Thom Browne's father dressed in a suit everyday for no particular reason, which inspired him to play with the idea of uniformity such as constant usage of grays and tailoring within his designs. As someone who plans to go to law school, fashion is a place of escape for me. I can let go of my academics and be playful. Fashion adds a bit of twinkle and excitement to my days, which sometimes can feel very lackluster and mundane. While when needed I will break into my sweatpants, I too don't feel like myself without my usual garb. I watched your morning routine video, and in fact, a part of my morning routine is wearing an outfit I like! Also, an added thought- fashion is a celebration of who you are in a specific point in place and time. Interestingly enough, although I don't necessarily read shoujo manga, my style somehow ended up being shoujo-mangaish. I cherish this vibe, which is possible because I am in my early-mid 20's. I wear pretty plain blouses/ t shirts and skirts, but enjoy having pastel colored accents in the form of various hair accessories and knee socks. A lot of these accessories have a ribbon theme to them- yes I do love ribbons! 🎀I love having a solid plain outfit foundation and switching it up with various accessories. I also wear various uniform related motifs- such as a sailor collar or preppy school uniform inspired brooches/blouses.
1. Body Type. It's all about balance. If you happen to have a body type where your shoulders are broad. You should look for some clothing that will make your shoulders less wide. For example, look at the lining of the shoulders in the T-shirt and get the shirt that has a shorter length/ lining in the shoulders. 2. The vibe of the face. You should always try to match the vibe of your face. If you have a very youthful face or baby face you should avoid wearing overly fierce clothing. 3. The length or the right size. Look at some clothing inspo on the internet and take note of where the fabric or clothing should end. For example, in pants, there are some pants that will look good on you if you cut right above the ankle. Some pants will look good if it cuts in the middle height of the shoe 4. The right combination of fabric. 5. Invest in essential clothing. Always prioritize the essential ones. This will be your foundation in finding the right style. For example, Fitted white shirt, white oversized shirt, white shoes, and ankle-length high-waisted pants.
I can relate very much to the first point he mentioned. And it's not only about fashion etiquettes but also about other etiquettes. Sometimes I see people talking that "you should not be bothered by people when they tell you to do something with manners, but you should do it on your own way. " I would think that, " Definitely, you should not bothered by them but you should know it already " . Whenever I visit my friends and see them not sitting properly, not eating properly, I feel a bit offended but then I would say to myself that "Relax , it's there own home and not somewhere else, don't be so judgemental. " But since I have been raised by my parents in such a way that sitting and eating properly doesn't seem to be a imposition anymore but an easy going part of me. But since I do this, it doesn't mean that I should stop anyone for not doing it that way, since they are literally not doing anything wrong.
I love to dress nicely! Unfortunately, when you have a physical job like mine, which includes manipulating plants and playing with dirt, you just don’t give a fuck about your clothes anymore🤷♀️😂😂
3 things to ask though open to what is the desirable answer based on whether or not this is for a smash tourney: Is it clean? Did your mom buy it for you? And is it not sweatpants and a hoodie?
Absolutely loved the video, as always! If you don't mind my asking, what type of shirt are you wearing here? It looks polite without being stiff-collared. Or does anyone know?
Great video! Still, I'd like to know how you manage to stop caring about what others think of you. I've got lots of stuff I would like to wear, but I can't help but overthink about how others might react to it.
I'm just so excited to find my fashion sense. I plan to use this summer to try to find something that just screams me ! I'm fully aware that I may not find that this summer but still excited that im finally starting ! All my clothes drown my personality completely. :[
How did you learn how to create ambience / aesthetic in your video like won't copy and stuff but fundamentals in like how to create what I want to create or present other than that do you have like a resource on daily habits to write better not specifically for RU-vid but general okay at writing everything book recommendations and all !
