The way you talk about writing and the mundane is fantastic. I recently tried writing a story in a notebook outdoors versus inside on my computer, and I was amazed how freeing and fluid it was. I simultaneously felt fully present and fully outside of myself

I think without knowing we all have that narration in our head, which when written down can be just as exhilarating as a novel if you read it back in few years time. It is worthy because you gave the worth by writing it down.

This reminded me of the time I wrote about the almond tree near my house, it’s so simple, but so beautiful, it makes me feel cosy for the unknown reason.

I got inspired by you and in the last two weeks I started a journal, I've never tried to write anything before. I'm finding it really fun, and it's helping me with my anxiety and depression, the act of reflecting at the end of day makes me appreciate little moments, and see how special they can be, and during the day I find myself contemplating things that I've been ignoring and that brings my mind to the present. So, I have to thank you for your amazing work

You talking about wanting to freeze the your housewarming party as as moment in time reminded me of the dinner party scene in Virginia Woolf's 'To the Lighthouse'. Kind of like the transient nature of all human experience is immortalised in writing and art.

I love this because I journal easily enough to unload my brain, but I am trying to step away from my comfort zone. While it is a great sense of release, I don't necessarily feel like I am improving as a writer and I want to start doing more storytelling. My trouble with storytelling or writing little vignettes about my day is knowing where to start or knowing which events to write about. When I was listening to your story about the taxidermist, there were certain details you described that I might not have picked up on, which I think adds to the story, grabs the reader, keeps them engrossed in the story. We all have these mundane moments in life, but I think the key is to notice them for later use.

This is a great idea, I’ve always liked the idea of writing daily gratitudes or something of the like, but it generally becomes too boring or repetitive for me to stick to. Same with typical diary entries along the lines of “Today I did this, and then I did that and this...” where as this idea of turning one main event of your day into a story, it’s like a combination of both, with a little creative spice added. An easy way to teach you to romanticise your own life, while also practicing your writing skills.

I think I saw you around today! I wish I’d said hi but I was in a rush + too shy Lovely video as usual. And perfect timing too, as I’ve been trying to revive my passion for writing which I’ve sort of lost since starting University. I’ve been trying to get out of the mindset that tells me I’m wasting time if I’m not studying or working and your channel has helped me tremendously!

"Your story is worth writing about" love that! Some of us are really having a hard time to start because we always strive for making an extraordinary story; when in fact the story is already within us, tailored in mundane moments of our lives. We just have to find it and create difference. Love your story and voice as well. Thank you for creating a good content.

I think a nice example of a published diary with insights into someone's life is Academic Diary: Or Why Higher Education Still Matters by Les Back. It's a mush of different diary entries about education, his life (both personal and as a teacher), academics and so on. It's a sweet little book and I highly recommend reading it and using it as an example to document your life

i've been reading sylvia plath's journals lately and she used to have the habit to write gorgeous and funny snippets of her life. even inserting herself as a character instead of being strictly a first person narrator. she used to do this as writing exercises when she was too busy to piece together a writing project.

Hey! Now since you write each and every single day for the past month, there has to be some sort of management to organize it. I was wondering, where exactly do you write your daily diary entries and where do you organize it? :) love the videos btw. great to end a stressful day with a glass of chocolate milk before bed. Personally, I would advise against reading books on storytelling. There is no single correct way to tell a story. Instead, consume a lot of stories consciously. Books, movies, TV shows, video games, anything you like. Pay attention, observe and analyse. Figure out what works for you, what doesn't and why. Find *your* way to tell a story.
