How To Be REALLY FAST With Only Basic Techniques

If you want to be REALLY FAST at 3x3, you don't need to use super advanced things like ZBLL, Zeroing, or anything like that. In this video, I'm going to show you how you can be super fast (like sub 8 fast) using only basic CFOP: Regular cross, intuitive F2L, and standard OLL and PLL.

cubers who are barely sub 20 can't even look ahead properly... Tracking pieces is more like a new thing to them and pretty much not even possible. I'm sub 15 with a few sub 10 solves and several sub 12 solves and only my fast solves I was able to track pieces. If people who are just about sub 20 understood everything and was able to do what he was saying they wouldn't be just about sub 20 ,they would at least be sub 12 or sub 10 consistently...

This definitely is more of the max park path that plays to the strengths of tps and look ahead. I think for the majority of people it’ll definitely be the way to go and at the end of the day everyone is going to need a big measure of this alone to get fast. However, I also think there’s a good chunk of people like me that struggle in the tps department and I think for that’s where the advanced stuff starts to become more useful earlier. This was a good reminder though that I need to just be better at my look ahead and LL tps haha

Thanks for the great video! I have a question about lookahead. Do you visually track the next pair corner / edge pieces when inserting the current pair, or do you spot the next pair corner / edge, predict where they will end up after the insertion? I'm suffering from poor lookahead and can only stare&track at the next corner piece during the insertion otherwise I will lose the track...
@BrodytheCuber
@BrodytheCuber 3 года назад
You need to be looking and tracking for the entire time you're solving a pair, not just during an insert. If you can't do that, you need to practice solving your F2L pairs with your eyes closed until you can.

Jayden McNeill said to try to use as little table abuse as possible. Feliks Zemdegs and Seung Hyuk Nahm both use cube rotating into the air with only minimally using table abuse. I got second place in my last OH competition, and for me, using as little table abuse and rotating in the air is the same speed as using table abuse, and rotating in the air makes lookahead a little easier. I recommend trying to use as little table abuse when rotating. Those are my 2 cents. Good luck!

If I'm not thinking about it my solves are smooth with no pauses. I know most don't have this issue...any advice?

I am really nervous at the timer, too. Just think you are at your practice table or a lunch break where you normally are not under pressure. Also, slow down your turning just a little bit to help with the mistakes. This works so well.
