How To Beat Horrorboros Guide │ Big Run │ Inkblot Art Academy - Splatoon 3 Salmon Run 

I really like Horrorboros. I just love how creepy it looks and having a weak point makes it so much more interesting and fun. I can't wait to see it in normal rotations. It will be a menace on high tide waves!

Best thing about Horrorboros is he LETS you kill the bosses. I can't tell you how many times I'd been in position to kill a Flyfish, Drizzler, or Steelhead just in time for Cohozuna to waltz right up and eat my bombs/shots. Horrorboros being in the air makes mobility and boss killing so much easier. He'll never lock down one of your escape routes just by existing.

Kinda like how houroborous is less comp dependant, will definitely make the scale grind easier

ALSO. Mr. Grizz says that's A Horrorboros. Not that's THE Horrorboros. Which means there could be hundreds, if not THOUSANDS OF HORRORBOROS CHILLING NEAR THE SHORE OF INKOPOLIS.

In Japanese, Horrorboros is called タツ ("Tatsu"), which means "seahorse". タツ is typically written using the Japanese kanji character 竜, which means "dragon" as well (in the Chinese dragon sense, so the kind with a long body like Horroboros). There used to be a Pokemon meme early Splatoon 3 life cycle that was "Nyahoja, tatsu na!" ("Sprigatito, don't stand up!"). There were lots of funny splatposts having fun with ridiculous Sprigatito standing evolutions (buff human with Sprigatito face, Sprigatito with long, sexy legs laying down and saying "I'm not standing!", etc.). Well, I just saw a Japanese splatpost with a Horroboros standing upright, with "Tatsu, tatsu na!" (Horroboros, don't stand up!") written along its body. Lol I love puns, and I love this community.

Any damage done to the Horrorborous bomb before it's thrown stays on the bomb after it's thrown, like a Steelhead. It's a bit counterintuitive because it'll generate a *new* bomb if the last one was popped. This means you don't have to try and deal all the damage on the bomb at once, if you don't pop it in one cycle your damage still carries over to the next.

Haz you're a life saver. I didn't know you could splat the bomb in it's mouth. That gives me a way more effective strategy against the Horrorboros.

My favorite part about this Big Run is Boros’ roar. It just…. Horrifying and one of my fave sounds 😂 I find it funny that the creature reminds me of a Lungfish

I'm not sure how much damage the bomb does when exploded, but it always has 2500 HP. The boss itself maxes out at 55K HP at hazard level 60 (low end of overachiever) and above. For reference, Cohozuna maxes out at 40K.

I was lucky enough to play with you right at the start of Big Run, and I'm in this video at the beginning, I'm Dragon, sorry we lost right near the end! I have defeated Horrorboros thanks to this video. Keep the tips coming xx

Fun fact: During high tide, if you go in the corner of the map (where ppl spawn in turf war), you can actually squid roll off of the wall and go up on the windows which makes it easier for short range weapons to attack Horrorboros

Man, that scream it makes in its intro… I’ve fought 3 of them so far. Only managed to kill it that 2nd time. I _would_ probably have managed to beat it on my very first encounter with it, but a coworker disconnected right at the end of Wave 3, so we eventually got overrun.

Very clever design, it never downright tells you how to beat it but players can connect the dots from steelheads.

Snipewriter is surprisingly decent at dealing with the bomb. Considering it’s not likely to do much else, I’d imagine that’s what people unfortunately loaned one should focus on

Shooting the bomb damages the boss too And then when it explodes it does extra damage to the boss So only shoot at the bomb

It´s true this Big Run rotation is pretty challenging. Managed to score 117 golden eggs but was intense.

I have a theory or something I found interesting. Horrorboros may or may not only be based on the Ouroboros. It could also be based on a fish called “King of the Salmon”. These type of fish are a type of ribbon fish known in some stories to lead other salmon to their spawning grounds. Horrorboros overall design resembles the basic ribbon fish. like Horrorboros, the ribbon fish has a pointed snout with teeth. The overall ribbon fish species as far as I know swim straight at a slow speed and act passive aggressive. This is probably why it has the King Salmonid title as King of the salmon is heard or told in stories that it leads salmon to their spawning grounds just like how King Salmonids lead armies of Salmonid , moves passively as it just circles around the stage, and has a heavily resemblance to the actual ribbon fish. There are more than one inspirations when it comes to character design and the Oarfish is brought in this topic. King of the Salmon in my opinion resembles the oarfish except it’s smaller and pictures I seen has a elongated mouth. The Oarfish’s enormous size and nickname “King of the herring” could also be the inspiration for Horrorboros. All of these fish I listed as far as I know don’t really swim like average everyday fish. Instead of moving their tails or move in a serpentine motion. They instead undulate their dorsal fins for locomotion. By doing that, their bodies remain and move straight in a line. Eels can also be another inspiration. Since this is the first king Salmonid to wield and use weaponry. The electric Eel AKA not a actual eel also contributes to its design. The two stinger hairs and the wires gives off this vibe.

The Grizzco Splatling is still one of the best king slayers! As a Hydra main this fills me with joy.

One thing I want to add about your effective weapons bit, when I was fighting em I had an lieter and it just demolished the bomb. And with its large range you pretty much always will be able to shoot it, but that’s just my observation. Have a good time splattin

The one thing I noticed about Horrorboros is that his path is rather low and it’s impossible to take down bosses he flies through until he has moved clear of them…Steelheads, Slamin’ Lids, and possibly Fishsticks…so keep that in mind when going for golden eggs. Although I wasn’t crazy about the map changes for Big Run…I stuck it out and managed 116 eggs, EVP 110 rank and we defeated Horrorboros multiple times (at least 5 or 6, maybe more)…all in Freelance with random players. Got the Grizzco Brella a LOT….nearly every match and even multiple waves within a match.. I demoted myself a few times and worked my way back up through the Profreshional ranks to EVP more than once and noticed things got really tough in EVP if the players didn’t know how to handle Special waves (glowflies, mothership, grillers)….we had a few failures and a few successes. I had more fun in the lower ranks but enjoyed some of the more successful EVP matches. I did notice a fair number of dropped players, it’s really tough when you’re down a player, or two…fortunately I was never left solo. Thanks for everything you do Hazmy, I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos and have improved significantly as a Salmon Run player.

The interesting part of this king is where the "Path" Will be positioned on some stages, especially large, long ones like marooner's bay, or ones with really high areas like sockeye. I feel like gone fission is going to be the easiest just because of how flat it is

I saw someone use Dynamo roller from a high point (like Slamming lid) and it shredded like crazy. You just need to be able to reach him when you have the dynamo roller down I guess

The second time i fought it, i noticed the booyah bomb was taking damage so I tried shooting it and got it to pop. When i realized this, I immediately thought basically the same thing. This dude is just a glorified egg basket. If the eggs are coming in fast enough, he has literally no effect on the battlefield. Its just a regular wave, except there is more pressure to get eggs moving. Terrific design.

hey, this is an overall tip, but idk if this was posted in a video before either, but you can actually swim into a steelhead bomb before it blows up and squid roll back right after you get bumped for a bit of momentum to escape. can help get out of a tight spot ig.

I wanted to point this out, if you actually go with blowing up the "Horror Bomb" then you'd actually notice due to him holding mouth open for awhile...it means blowing up the bomb gives you a few seconds longer before he starts charging up again

FWIW, Chargers are AMAZING at fighting Horrorboros. Those perches you stayed at are perfectly safe places to just snipe it in the mouth over and over again and deal MASSIVE damage. You don't even need to use eggs!

I need to play with some of you people, I've not been with a group to defeat Horrorboros yet.

One time, I got a Horrorboros wave where we were supplied with three rollers and a Luna Blaster. That was a painful wave, we barely did any damage before we all got splatted.

I imagine the golden egg does decent enough damage that you'd want to throw at least 1 at the body, 2 if you don't need to take out a troublesome boss, instead of leaving some eggs on the ground

E liters are also good against the boyah bomb. I am a brush main so L 3 shooter is good for me.

Big Run has been fun so far

The first horrorboros i fought, which fun fact: un spanish theyre called dragons, we destroyed with 40 sec. Left on the timer.

The one thing nobody can make a guide on, however, is how to not be scared of this thing

There is confirmation of the other king salmonids if you look at the graffiti arts you can see all the upcoming ones.

Do we know yet if damage to the booyah bomb carries to the next one if we don't successfully burst it like with the Steelhead? Have been seeing some conflicting info on this

I'm NOT 100% sure, but it feels like the boss also takes increased damage if you are shooting at the bomb or the mouth/head without the bomb, even without exploding the bomb. 2x might be too much, but 1.5x sounds more reasonable. Correct me if you know I'm wrong

If you don’t destroy the booyah bomb before it’s released, does your damage to it carry over to the next bomb? (Like the Steelhead)

My friends and I found that it’s good to have 2 players on each side of the map, and they’ll do one of two things: - if the Horrorboros’ head is on the opposite side you’re on, splat the bosses and gather eggs. - if the head is on your side, fire away. This generally makes it so you don’t need to chase the head every single time.

It’s funny, when I did my first battle against Horrorboros, I went forward prepared to fight it, then 2 seconds later the *1 player left* message flashes across my screen. They presumably all died from his mouth nuke while my back was turned…

Ah. I was using E-Liter on its mouth and I found it fun but maybe not quick enough for the bomb.

When is your next stream? For short events like big run it would be great if you could announce the stream times for those two days so people can join you in game more easily. Or posting an image on RU-vid saying „hey we’re playing splatoon in 2h from now for 4hours, come join us!“ For me it’s not about joining you in a lobby (although that would be cool), but so that I join big run when there are lots of people in the hazco pool for faster matchmaking

I feel like E Liter is also really good against this King Salmonid. While it doesn't have the highest DPS, its range, along with dealing 600 damage with a full charge shot, can provide an amazing combo when used with a Golden egg (1400 damage in an instant about) So definitely a very useful weapon too

Ive only managed to play for a few hours of the big run and i only get to fight the orroborros three times. The first one i felt like everyone in my team panicked and we got splatted very quickly. The other two it both happened during high tide 😭😭😭 i hate high tide it gets overwhelming very quickly and there's no high ground to escape to

I imagine stringers would be good against it. I’m no good at game design but regular tri-stinger can get at the Booyah bomb from far away and grizzco brella could make use of most if not all of it’s horizontal shots regardless of where it is because of how long horroboros. Idk tho

Iv gothen horroboros lots of times but my team mates (random) dont shot the bomb in its mouth and i always loss the xtra wave i hope does team mates watch this video

I just wanna say this here, first horrorboros I was given hydra, and it does an AMAZING job at damaging the bomb, combined with teammates who kill bosses and threw eggs, we beat him with about 30 seconds to spare, so imo hydra is really good edit: well damn if I would have watch just a couple more seconds he already mentioned hydra 💀💀💀 my point still stands I love hydra

I really like Horrorboros but what is REALLY getting on my nerves is that I’ve had a full salmometer for a while on this big run but STILL haven’t gotten him :( You got any advice? I don’t want to miss playing w/ since I can’t play tomorrow 😭 Edit: nvm guys I got him a couple hours ago he was super fun

Horrorborros ist awesome. So farmy Experience with Hazco Pool ist Mixed, i find mostly more or Same as Freelancer, If you loose one Match they all leave the Rooms, Its annoying. I hoped I get Players on my Level but its expected a Lot of new Players will be in the Pool.

Did Ouroboros booyah bomb leaves a mark when painted? I mean steelhead's bomb has a paint mark left so you can continue to finish paint it.

the *only* kind of weapon that will suck against this boss are low ranged weapons and most blasters if you get any of those *pioritize lessers* dont bother damaging the boss with your main

One thing I can say is that the grizzco Splatana Won't be a Horrorboros splatter as the grizzco Splatana is melee only.
