Yikes! I have 8 Bs (2Freshman, 3 Sophomore and Junior year) and the 6 from the past 2 came from having to tutor family, taking time away from me. Will that hurt me?

I have a question about extracurriculars... Do AO's take into account that a candidate participated in year around sports to explain the lack of extracurriculars? My child is a competitive swimmer with great grades, but she lacks academic awards and extracurriculars. She's been recruited by some D1 to D3 schools, but not good enough to swim for schools she wants to attend.

Admissions offices are accustomed to evaluating applicants participating in competitive sports, so yes, they do understand how time-consuming many sports can be, including swimming. The challenge for admissions to top schools, however, is to find complementary activities that won't demand as much time and can still provide strong evidence for one's major. Summer is a valuable time to accomplish this, whether it be through college coursework, volunteering, or even remote research. HS2 couselors can provide invaluable advice to fit your specific situation, as we have worked with several students who have been recruited to top schools for sports like swimming.

18:30 I thought that Dartmouth and Penn don't track demonstrated interest, because that's what it says on their website. Can you provide a source for this?

ira.upenn.edu/sites/default/files/UPenn-Common-Data-Set-2021-22.pdf It's possible they just changed it because of COVID, but the common data sets contradict that.
