The fights with Zosimos, Chymes, Marduk and the Mad Lord absolutely KILLED any enjoyment I had left for the game. Even after following this guide down to the exact items and skill layout, Zosimos just LAUGHED as he continued to out regen the supposed one-shot build in its entirety. I was forced to drop the difficulty down from Normal to Casual, and am immediately insulted with how massive a difficulty gap there is between the two modes. This last segment of the game is extremely unbalanced and poorly designed, punishing players for using teams they want to play with: Up until this specific fight with Zosimos, I had managed to get through the entire game using a full Light shift team of Glowfly, Magmamoth, and Magmapillar. The game WAS fun and enjoyable, but it fails to properly teach you the things it considers absolutely necessary to finish with, and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I agree . I was having a good ass time up until zosimos. Everytime I lost before I was able to win after switching out a monster or two, but dam the last fights of the game burned me out
@@doodlebob8404 i rage quit at zosimos. all the work putting on debuffs and buffs and he just laughs and regens with a simple flick of the wrist lol. i have to rework my team even after having no real challenge prior to this guy.
@@Shad0wmoses Try the Shield build but first turn the difficulty down and make sure each of your monsters are level 40 trust me you're going to need the specials to win
It’s funny because from the 3 man team that you gave us to 5 star champion monsters I beat all the alchemist fairly easily and Marduk and the champion monster after him fairley easy didn’t need this after all lol but your videos are great upload more!!
After several attempts at this stupid fight I was finally able to beat this s.o.b. ATM this build didn't really work for me so I used your fungi, fungi, troll build to quickly take out a couple of his guys and once they were dead I used Yowie, Targot, and Brutus. With them I just spammed healing spells to keep the team alive while Brutus took each out after a few hits .
I am sorry, but it must have been nerved or whatever. I did the same over 40 times and I am the hell of a player. I am even equipped with much better gear and it simply doesn't work. Their infinity buff level 4 destroys all my characters easily in 2 turns once we get there. I even changed a few things to increase the rate of getting our charges, but the infinity 4 buff appears even quicker than if I take my time. Makes no sense at all.
Probably because I've been playing the game at difficult mode in my very first game. Who knows... I managed to finally win after trying a lot. Finally got to have a strong Brutus who survived for the whole fight while Yowie was healing everybody for every turn while Frosty was shielding. I started with killing the G'rulu of the opposite team, which kinda helped a lot since he is a strong buffer/healer. Lost Yowie and Frosty, then replaced them by Yowie again same build and my own G'rulu. The second Yowie also crumbled, and finally Goblin Brute came to join. Both my G'rulu and Goblin Brute kept shielding (level 5 shielding ===> nothing less) while Brutus was still using power focus then heavy punch level 4 or Godly strikes to one shot the enemies one by one. At some point when waiting for Godly Strikes for 2 turns to be ready, I used a Big Potion to heal Goblin Brute before focussing, then one shotting the last enemy to prevail! Phew!! Really tough fight!! :) Even there, I thought it was close!
I know im a bit late to join the discussion, but you had absolutely WAY too much mana regen on caraglow. The ultimate only costs 220 and the main abilities are 210 and under, you had almost 260. I did not buy either mana plus skills, instead getting attack plus for a tiny bot extra from the power healing skill, and also got +5 crit chance from the left tree. I also removed needle and replaced it with an ocarina, to absolutely overkill on the healing. You could practically full heal a fully health boosted yowie in one heal with that extra healing.
Worked like a charm!! Breezed past the final battles without a hitch thanks to your guide! :). My crew had light shifted Goblin Pilot, light shifted Steam Golem, Skorch, light shifted Yowie, Wolf and dark shifted Ice Blob.
Nice team! Just a tip: you can cast shield from golem instrad of multiple shrouds, as it doesent stack up with this team, and shielding is better! Try out with eye glob instead of scorch too!
Haha, I've been trying to branch out to more builds than just the cheese Targoat+Caraglow+Brutus trio and a Fungi+G'rulu+Troll trio, and while you do end up utilizing that first trio, you did find a way to incorporate it with 3 other monsters reasonably well, and in fact using them just as the backline. I've heard good things about shield teams and bleed teams, so it was nice to see the strat for a solid shield team laid out. Goblin Pilot is a beast.
fighting against the alchemist in the tower, this doesn´t work at all. the fire ticks don´t harm the enemy team a bit. my team just dies slowly without even taking out a single enemy monster
you could also steal the Oculus, beetloid, promethean team and deal 20 with thunderstrike and like 6k with the subsequent shock damage :) (that comp was hugely op for NG+)
They have updated the game I guess. Steam Golem’s Shirld burst only expends 90% of all shield and only does 175% damage of the shield strength now… not 300% like in your video. F*** I hate this!! Jesus!!! The game went from east to impossible with these alchemists. F***! Fu*k this godd** game
I gave up on this game due to him I se eyou cna beta him but every singlke boss battle is way to hard and forces you to make an entire new team train it up to beat said boss so being able to beta 1 boss requires like 4 or 5 hours of grinding each boss. I dont mind grinding an little but there are limites it sucks I was enjoying the game but at this point its not fun anymore and it doesnt even feel fair either
Agreed- would love to get the equip for Brutus in this vid. I’ve been screenshooting for builds to apply later. Same question on shifts since I didn’t see any equip that bars shift like grey pearl.
Katana, Dumbbell, Tome, Crit Ring is what I'm going with for Brutus. I've seen both shifts used for Brutus, but you'll definitely want light shift for Caraglow so she can give Brutus a lot of charge stacks in addition to buffs through her heals. Scorch also has the Crit Healing + Crit Boon passive combo, so works as a back-up Caraglow. Open with Full Heal and Brutus will Focus, then next turn use Heal, and assuming average RNG, Brutus should be up to 3, if not 4, Might stacks, a ton of Charge stacks, and can then blow everything away with Ram Charge.
Going for crit is great if you want to smash through enemies and reckon you can shield through most of the damage. Grey pearl would also be great on an unshifted Brutus but I think the Light shift is also fantastic for also building up extra charge stacks. I might also be tempted to go for something like Gauntlet just to add a bit of defence, or alternatively fill him up with peanuts!
Loved your video! Very interesting, since we had very different approaches (I have a debuff based Team). After horribly failing at the magma chamber fight, I watched your video on team building. I decided to build it around my favourite monster, the Mad Eye. Since then, my team has not once failed, though I still need to build some teams to 5-Star some champions. So thank you so much, your videos are so great!! My team is: Dark-shifted Mad Eye, light-shifted Glowfly as support (to stack those shocks and encourage more hits from Mad Eye) and light-shifted Crystal Snail as tank. The other three were Magmapillar, Plague Egg and Spectral Toad.
I’m having trouble with Richard. I find that as soon as I kill the first monster and a dragon comes into play I lose one of my team every couple turns. The first dragons arial strike along with the other two monster attacks is enough to take out any of my team regardless of health and shields. I find that shield burst for steam golem is useless outside of the first two turns where even if I take someone out with it, the first dragon will just KO it on the next turn. Using scorch to build up charges for goblin pilot doesn’t work as it’s so squishy he dies in a 2-3 turns and any new enemy won’t have any burn stacks on it. Using Brutus to one shot them works but by the time I get to the last dragon, plus made eyes and punchy guy, my team is too low on health and shield to survive one round of attacks.
max shield is also based of max hp, right? could be useful to boost that stat too to give you more to work with. i've been loving your MonSan videos so much man. how do you discover this broken shit? haha, you should share them on the discord
Very true, the more HP you have, the more shield you can have. I think I'll make a "how to build a team" video next to go through some ideas. Thanks for the Discord tip!
That Zosimos duel stonewold me a few times. I did something very similar although mine was focused around regeneration and buff removal rather than shields and using debuffs for my damage. Grummy, fungi, G'rulu for that, with Spectral Wolf, Dracogran, and Troll doing the damage and buffing.

I think a problem with this guide is that it relies on 2 guardian monsters, which will be hard for novice players to acquire :) hard for the types of players watching this guide to acquire those monsters. Still, decent guide. A non-guardian version might be interesting. Skorch can be tricky to get too! have to win a tough keeper fight.
this team didnt quite work for me. i guess i didnt have ultimate unlocked yet maybe thats why.. but i beat zosimos using the following. Skorch ultimate office buff glowdra = insta one shot madeye, grummy + 2 shot elderjel w/o it getting a turn. using g'rulu to remove thier buffs and apply regen 3 on team. once glowdra eventually dies bring in troll for some poison one shots. all zosimos team is front loaded. you can also use a thanatos blind strat with glowdra one shotting. good luck to whomever this may help. Edit: forgot to add sutsune after skorch dies/after you kill grumm+g'rulu. steal thier buffs for easier late game sweeping. works for all 3 bosses

Say, wouldn't that Steam Golem be better off with the dark shift? This makes it so that you can use the Large Shield instead of the Cestus and have a few points available to allocate into other skills then mana without hurting the sustainability. On top of that, the base defense on the dark shift is higher. The build I've got is hitting 982 defense, which I believe is a good offset to that loss of 15% damage reduction. Specially if you're focusing on shield burst. After watching your video, I certainly decided to give Shield Burst a try so I re-visited my Golem's build, which was also built to take off buffs from the enemy and debuffs from allies. Managed to get the good points of both your build and my own without any compromise. Though that's in part due to the fact the old build I had wasn't properly tuned. XD
And I am 1 month late. Doesn't even get close to being able to one hit anything now. First alchemists aren't bad but the third one I just can't because of the broken healing which constantly ruins this game. 60 stack on Brutus, just used power focus and it will only do 2/3 of a shield on the weakest monster. And not even 1/4 on the others. They need to fix the healing in this game, really ruins it
I just started this game about 3 day's ago and noticed that the team in this strategy won't work as easily because some of the monsters had their skill trees redone
As for the time I'm writing this comment this build does not work. The game probably got updated since then. The "one-shotting" takes maybe... 50% of the enemy shield/hp. And with much more charge stacks than it is shown in the video. Shame since it took me around 2 hours to build the presented team.
