A very well executed tutorial, Faf! I've been eyeing Live2D for a bit, we'll see if a can nab some fellow to commission them! But thank you for this new enlightenment :^))
Ethan!!! Thank you for the compliment and I'm glad that you found this video to be a bit insightful! I'll be looking forward to a 2D you if that happens! :3c
Guess we are polar opposites, i have no idea how face capture and live2d rigging works, but i can edit videos pretty well. Anyway, thanks for the advice, catch ya later
4:23 I looked up facerig and apparently may have found a wrong (or alternative) source *and saw the 2D module for $700+* Now I checked out the spreadsheet and found the steam prices *and phew lol* (I knew this would all be expensive but I desperately hoped it wouldn't be $700 for JUST the facerig alone) Thanks a lot for the helpful video!
I follow the Facerig - Live2D documentation, you can find it on Facerig's website! It will be different for other face tracking software. I'll consider making a video on how to do toggles sometime!
My only problem with all this is to get Live 2D, i don't even have money to get the program and all links to a "cracked" version are viruses (at least that's what my antivirus says). Without Live 2D, I'm screwed.
Quick question!: I’ve stumbled across a video explaining Hologram Production, I got really confused. I was just wondering if we had to join Hologram Production just to become apart of the community :)
If you're talking about Hololive, you'll have to apply whenever they open auditions. Though you can just become an independent VTuber yourself without the backing of a company if you just wanna be in a community.
Fafrotsky Even though this was about a week ago according to YT’s date system. I would opt for a VRoid model but I just have more of an attraction to 2D over 3D. Guess I gotta either learn how to draw or shell out like 158 dollars usd.
@@nibblie Yeah I understand, I like the aesthetic of 2D models as well. If anything, a good amount of VTubers start out with a VRoid model, then upgrade to 2D or even 3D from scratch. It would be wise to see if the hobby (VTubing/VStreaming) is fit for you in the first place before dumping big bucks on a model!
Imagine the model art as a puppet without joints/points of articulation, it has a form, but it can't move. Rigging the art in Live2D gives that puppet joints/points of articulation so it can move, such as head turning (left to right), head tilting, eye movement, mouth open/close, blinking, etc. Then you would need a motion capture software/app to "control" or "pilot" the puppet.
You'll have to check each software if you're talking about the tracking programs. If you're talking about the rigging program itself, Live2D Cubism is available on macOS.
