Love your channel, thank you for sharing all that (much needed) knowledge. I'm pursuing an RBT certification here in FL as well, but I've had no luck finding supervision for the initial competency assessment, etc... I reached out to two BCBAs on the BACB website and also an actual agency (I personally spoke with the program director), but I haven't heard back from them :/ I'm not discouraged or anything, it's just that I wish these people knew how bad I want to do this. I'll keep looking and knocking on some more doors 'till I "make it". Keep those videos coming, you inspire us all!!

I not only got my RBT certification on my own, but the very next day after I passed the exam, I nailed a job interview that scored me a job starting tomorrow. I’m very grateful for your help and encouragement. I hope my agency treats me well. Now I’m doing both, working my butt off to be a great RBT and also preparing myself to meet the requirements for a BCaBA certification in the near future. This was so helpful. I am still alittle confused on Restricted and Unrestricted hours. I am in the second course of my course work, and want to make sure I am properly using the Supervision Tracker and that I am understanding the difference between the types of hours. Can the company I work for assist in the training and supervision? When I am able to log in my hours do they have to be signed by a supervisor/the place I work for?

Hi! I have a bachelor's in Psych, I also live in FL. I was looking at the bcab website and they have the requirements for both bcaba and bcba certification. They talk about going through certification in 2022 and when I read it, it looks like a lot of classes for the bcaba... do you know if anything changed since this video was posted? On your final experience form did you supervisor make sure you completed 50% unrestricted hours as well? Direct hours are a given but the company the I work gives me about 2 hours of undirected hours a month if that.

@@cinziaadannaebonine222 you can do that but you will still need your hrs. I think becoming an RBT would make it easier to gain those hr plus you get the experience. Just took a term off and will be studying to be rbt cert so it makes my goal for BCaBA easier for me to accomplish after i graduate. Hope that helps..Good luck

If you have experience working with children working as a part-timer would be beneficial not only you apply psychology, but you gain experience, which helps you develop your skills. However, if you haven't work with children it doesn't hurt doing research. Hope that help.

Hi! I stumbled across your channel while researching RBT training! I just started my 40 hour training and have been watching all of your videos! In your "How to become a RBT" video you mentioned how you need to have a supervisor before you can take the exam. Do you need 5% supervised hours while you work in the field as an RBT? I am assuming your supervisor works for a different agency and you go to them? Do you continue to pay a supervisor every month while you work as an RBT? Sorry I'm confused! Thanks!

Hi! I was super confused too when I was where you are so don't worry haha. Do you need a supervisor while working in the field? The answer is yes, you should not have to pay for them as you will be working under them in the same agency not a different one. You pay for a supervisor (if you don't already have a supervisor which is the majority of us) before sitting for the RBT exam because you need to be registered under one in order to take it . You can also pay for an additional supervisor than just the one you work with if you are trying to accumulate hours at a faster pace to sit for your BCaBA. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@ABASource Makes sense! So I assume it is just a flat fee for a supervisor in order for you to take the exam since that's all you need them for? They don't actaully have to supervise you in person? And then once you get hired somehwere you work under a supervisor so you no longer need the one that you had for the exam if I am understanding correctly? Thank you!!

Hi Kadelin! If you're speaking in regards to collecting your hours to sit for the BCaBa exam then yes. They will plan times to meet with you either in person or via video chat.

I look my RBT online through Florida institute of technology, but for the BCABA program it was to expensive, did you get your bachelors in ABA or did you just take the course in ABA after getting a bachelors in another field of study .

Hi, ABA is a short term for the field Applied Behavioral Analysis. RBT is a registered behavior technician which a certification through the BACB to work in the field of ABA. The BACB is the Behavior Analyst Certification Board which is where you will find all your information related to the ABA field. Hope this helps.

Hello, thank you for the great job You’ve done with all this information. I have a question. I’m a Grandma and a cancer survivor. I just came back to the workforce after being in remission for a few years by Doing a substitute teaching job because it’s flexible and gives me time to help picking up my grandkids., An Rbt told me that with my masters degree on Biostatistics, I could try to pursue a BCaBA using my masters plus taking extra credits. Where can I find what other credits I might need? Do you think it’s worth it? I really need some flexibility to keep helping my daughter with my grandkids. Please advise.

Question! I have a bachelor's degree in another field, but I want to take some Verified Course Sequences from a university to take the BCaBA exam. I see that 6 courses in this university are qualified for VCS. After I finish these 6 courses, am I gonna be qualified to take the BCaBA exam, even though, I do NOT graduate from this university? Or, do I have to graduate and get another bachelor's degree from this university offering Verified Course Sequences to be qualified for the exam? I am little confused. Do the hours that we work as RBT count as restricted/unrestricted hours? How do we provide the proof that we have finished the hours?

Yes. You track your hours on an “experience tracker” which is an excel file created by the board you can find it on the BACB website. Your supervisor signs it and that is your proof.

Hi, do you thi k i could take the VCS for bcaba while completing a bachelors? The university that offers the vcs states that you can minor in aba while getting your bachelors and i wanted to know if i did that could still sit for the bcaba exam?

Hi! I have two degrees from North Dakota State University and I am scared because i dont think NDSU is ABAI accredited. If I want to become a BCaBA do I have to go to a school that is ABAI accredited and complete another bachelor degree? or how does that work. Help!

Are there online schools you can recommend for the BCaBA i heard you said it can be done in a short amount of time. But when looking at Florida tech they said 16 months. I got my bachelors in psych in 2011 and looking at another routes to take and further my career.

BCaBA is for someone with a bachelors degree, and BCBA is for someone with a masters degree. Higher position. :)

Hi!! I know this video is a few months old now so I am wondering if youll even see this message but I am currently in a masters program and I am collecting my hours to become a BCBA probably some time mid next year. I just got my RBT certificate but that really didnt change much for me I still have the same responsibilities and stuff. Would it be worth it to get my BCaBA in the meantime?!? And can the hours im accruing towards my BCBA count for BCaBC or do I have to collect separate hours? That would suck!! Does that make sense? Hope it does thank you!!!

You don’t pay for it that’s messed up idk why she said that. I work for a company and my supervisor has to supervise you for the client y’all with with why would you have to pay them it’s their job

What have you heard about the bcaba being phased out in Florida or in general? Is it worth it or should you only do if your going bcba route as your final destination?

Hi! I honestly haven’t heard much about BCaBA’s being phased out so I’m ignoring it until official news is released from the BCBA. If you’re planning on becoming a BCBA then you should definitely get the experience of being a BCaBA because you learn A LOT!

What program did you attend that requires 5 classes for BCBA courses? I’ve seen programs that require 6 or 8 classes. I have a Masters degree in MFT and want to start doing hours as a RBT. Plan to become a BCBA in 2022.

RBT would be considered step/role #1, GED or HS diploma required but please know that this role is very important. Consider it like a doctor (BCBA); nurse (BCaBa) and the daily hospital room nurse aide (RBT) that check vitals, assure patient eats and is daily doing well is the essential individual. BCBA requires grad school, BCaBA may be an undergraduate. ABA should be considered a practice of teach , assessing and considering behaviors and the person’s condition in their environment.

Hello, great question! That is correct. According to the BACB you must have started the course sequence as well as be under a supervisor. Here is the link to the "Experience Standards" from the BACB. hello! im so happy there is a channel for rbts, bcabas, bcbas! however, i have a bachelors degree in psychology. I want to start off as a bcaba. do you know any good institutions that have the classes? then eventually i want to pursue my masters in aba and becoming a BCBA. hope this makes sense.

I would highly encourage everyone to start out as a RBT first. I can't imagine not being an RBT and just taking the role of an analyst first. There would be so much to learn!

Hello, so I am still confused about the coursework, I just grad from my bachelors degree, and now I want to become a BCABA, but I still dont know what I am looking at, is this like a short coursework ? or is this like a master degree of 2 years? I live in Texas, and all the ABA coursework I see is master degree to become BCABA.
