Dancing is such a fun and important part of musical theatre but sometimes dance calls can be intimidating! In this video, you'll learn several tips on how to improve your dancing fast and how to prepare for musical theatre dance calls! This will also be helpful if you are planning on majoring in musical theatre and have dance calls at your college auditions. I also have linked TONS of resources for online dance classes both FREE and PAID so you can get started dancing and become a better dancer from home!! Best of luck and have fun dancing it out!!

HELPFUL TIP: There are a LOT of links, so if you don't know where to get started, I suggest starting with Joseph Corella's Dance Tutorials Playlist, Dance Tutorials Playlist, and Follow Along Improv.
TIP: If you struggle to find the motivation to dance every day, then dance with a friend! The easiest way to do this is to have someone screen share the tutorial over zoom, learn the dance together and then (optional) perform it for one another after you've learned it!

thank you so much! I've wanted to be an actor for such a long time and i recently auditoned after finally getting confidence to do so. it was my first audition and i got a callback!! however i think the thing that had me not get the part was the dance call because i messed up a lot lol- this video will help a lot

Is it ever too late to start dancing? I signed up for a virtual beginner musical theater dance class and I’m in middle school. A lot of people have been dancing since they were a toddler so I get kind of intimidated with the competition haha

Starting in middle school is definitely not too late! I didn't even start performing in musical theatre shows until the summer before my junior year. As long as you actively work to better yourself, you're going to be alright! And I wouldn't get caught up comparing yourself negatively to others, either you can look at someone with talent and think "that's how I can be if I continue to practice" or just focus on yourself and your own personal growth instead of where others are because it CAN be intimidating, but you have plenty of time to learn so don't worry! And it can be hard not to compare yourself to others but doing it won't serve you and good!

I’m just getting into musical theatre towards the end of my sophomore year, and I do feel a little insecure about not having a lot of experience in dancing, acting, or even singing. However, I’ll just focus on bettering my self and my skills :)

@@oopsididitagain2556 Hello! :) I'm so glad to hear that you've decided to get into musical theatre! You should be proud of yourself for that alone and for having the courage to put yourself on stage! I would recommend voice lessons if you're able to and dancing either in classes or with youtube videos (I definitely wouldn't recommend disregarding that element). I also took theatre classes in high school to help with my acting! Best of luck!!! Thank you for reaching out!
