I have a poor driving record historically due to untreated ADHD and stupidity. No criminal convictions or DUI's but a plethora of speeding tickets and license loss prior to 2020. Now I've treated the ADHD, developed some maturity and insight I'm a model driver and have been for nearly a year. I feel I would do well as an uber x driver as I know Melbourne well and like making small talk with a cross section of people. But am I wasting my time applying with a poor driving record (though nothing recent)? If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.
There is no harm in trying driving Uber for weeks or months. If you are not comfertable driving after few weeks then you can try other jobs. Instead of buying a car for Uber, rent it and try.
@@SabihsLife Thanks mate. I have my own car already and have already applied for my accreditation. The issue is a very poor driving record in the past though its been clean for the last year. I feel I might fail the background check.
@@angusyates828 you holding yourself back mate! As long your licence is not suspended at the moment, you can be uber Driver . I started uber when I had only one demerit point left. I also have adhd. I'll advise you to drive quite period like late nights or so. If else you'll get frustrated with the traffic jam.
@@encrypted983 Unfortunately not. You still need to pass a medical to get the drivers accreditation. I'm on 20mg of diazepam that I've been on for a decade. I never needed it but thats another story. The Dr's refuse to pass me fit to drive uber or taxis until I reduce the diazepem to 10mg which given how terrible benzo wd is will take a few months. So mate the ADHD meds aren't a problem, nor is my driving record but the diazepam is. Thanks for the advice hopefully I can get there later this year.

On a temporary visa you can drive Uber with overseas license for 3 months. But once you get a PR, you need to pass the driving test to get Australian license. 12 months requirement is only for people who got their license first time during the last 12 months period

I need help. I just bought new camry hybrid to use as uberx but when i went to red book inspection and they said that your car is driven as taxi so we cannot let you use this same car for uberx. Please help me what i can now. I was totally unaware of it.
So the rule is UberX vehicles must not be an ex-taxi/taxi, ex-driving school, government, branded or rebuilt vehicle. It seems you maybe need to sell this Car and buy one which hasn’t been used as Uber X before. There is no other alternative. You can rent Uber for $200 a week until you can be able to drive your own car as Uber

@Jorge Melillan local license has to be an Australian license, and to get that I think you need to pass a driving test in Australia. I tried to register with uber and everything went smooth till they checked my driving license and got refusal after that. It seems there no solution but to wait for 1 year after getting the license. If you have an update please send it here.
So what’s wrong with it mate. people who can’t read or they don’t have time to read because they are driving, working, cooking or doing something else but they do have time to hear or listen to while doing other things , so I am reading it for them to save their time. I am not a Uber driver, these information I am giving it to you guys new for me as well.
@@SabihsLife my mate in Melbourne trying to become an Uber driver he seems to think hes gonna make $2500 a week he doesn't have a car he needs to get on on the monthly plus insurance fuel and taxes and Ubers 25% how likely is it to clear $2500 clear net profit in your pocket after you paid all your over head's How many hours do you reckon you would need to work if you want to earn the big money being an Uber driver
