I'll add on to the point of being of service. There's something you need to understand about it's opposite pole of 'TAKING SERVICE' mindset that most people are stuck in. This is the #1 reason you're ruining your relationships. Because you come at it from a taking mindset instead of one giving service. You take more than you give. For the longest time periods I looked at relationships as how could this person be of benefit for me? once I made the switch of "how could I provide service to this person without taking anything back in return" was the turning point in my personal relationships. Lastly, I'll end this comment with a quote on bible that can be applied to this point. "Luke 6:38 NLT Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

I'm sitting here watching this on a sunny morning. A week back, I was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I've been feeling depressed, lost, and despondent. This morning, while reflecting on how I wish I'd have been more charismatic in my life, I stumbled upon this video. I loved watching it. The content is brilliant. But what really got me, what inspired me to write this was the part about eye contact (timestamp 5.03) how you should look away for a bit then Bang! A bit of eye contact! Just made me smile to be honest. This small jovial moment unplugged me from how down I've been feeling. So I just wanted to say Thank You for making me smile. I really appreciate it.

There are entire channels on charisma and this video blows them away in 8 minutes.... If only everyone watching them could see this! I wish I had known this growing up, and hope this message gets more attention. It's the least narcissistic advice possible in a culture being ripped apart by self centered values. It's the handiwork of a true sage! This is why I love you so much Russell!

I totally agree about the energy thing... sometimes a person walks in and they "light up the room" this is their positive energy/aura which literally sends waves through everyone else's vibrations (but unfortunately the opposite also happens and some people give off a very dark and negative energy and it effects everyone around them :(

Absolutely wonderful. I believe that with enough practice everyone can be able to be like Russell and share the joy and bliss of presence. What I've realized lately is that for me being an overthinker I have to love to forget things and love to not remember what I have to do. That's the best way to be present. Of course you have to know when it's appropriate to do this but with just step by step I think it's possible to find the balance.

This is one of the most important video's I have ever seen and it's not so much about being charismatic, it's about being honest and truly interested. I have worked in child protection services for 10 years and the most people I got to meet and help were people that didn't fit the system, 'professionals' didn't know what to do. In alot of cases I managed to turn the tide and get fitting help just by going there, sitting there and not judging them. I have alot of life experience myself, including addiction, addicted parents and abuse, so i can relate to some of them. It was the most fullfilling job I ever had. This is the way to really connect with people. Be yourself, be honest and be interested.

I just want to take a moment to say how GRATEFUL I am to be hearing about charisma, something I entirely lack, from someone I would consider a master at it. I will struggle to adapt your words (I'm usually the person who makes a room silent and closes off communication upon entry) and escape the trappings of my own head the next time I remember you spoke them when in a situation during which they can be applied.

I love that he is talking about the responsible helpful side of charisma. The idea that charisma is a tool and can be used positively or negatively. It all comes down to intent. I'm also glad that he touched on the potential cost of charisma, in that if you have it, you need to keep a handle on it, or it can over feed the ego it can become a huge deficit to your own growth and then negatively affect the people drawn to it in you. Just like money... It a powerful tool but also a pretty enticing trap. 😬

I've never had the sense of Russell being a narcissist. Yet, he has genuine charisma, & has always been himself. It's like it breaks barriers, to be reveling in being yourself. I really like him, & have from the first time i saw & heard him. He has matured beautifully!

Mr. Brand, please know that a conversation with you is a bucket list item of mine. I have the utmost respect for you and wish I could have your charisma because with it I could save the world. That is why I found this video. Im not dying, but my days are certainly numbered. My employer has decided to discard my years of service and give me an ultimatum to vaccinate or be terminated. The decision would be easier if I did have a family to support, or if my 2 children weren't special needs. I need people to support me, but every time I speak up its perceived as anger, despite my best intentions. Thank you this video. I see now how self-centered and self-absorbed I am.

I got a lot of charisma. I've been told that I'm full of it...i assume they meant charisma

Love the 7:20 onwards - notion of charisma through to imagine an arc of light from your heart to the other person, yourself absolutely connected to that person, deep truth that we are all one, that we are awareness looking at awareness, that all material things through entropy of the universe - but that this great awareness, subtle energy, and this awareness will remain, this bridge between us, as a way to approach being more charismatic or present.

I also love how you honestly address your personal struggles with anxiety and confidence, as we all do to varying degrees at various times. Thank you for sharing 🙏 We could all do with giving ourselves permission to feel those, sometimes, uncomfortable and paralysing feelings that get in the way of us being our best selves. We are most charismatic (and powerful no doubt) when our social mask/persona/ego can loosen its grip and melt away in favour of our essence, authenticity and uniqueness to shine through, and in doing so we can recognise the essence and uniqueness of another. The key is to be present and self aware.

Love this. I think I have no problems to be present with another person face to face. I can be charismatic in single encounters. But I have a real difficult time in group settings. There are so many different energies I have to deal with at the same time that my brain is overloaded and I feel super uncomfortable sometimes even at the edge of a panic attack and I can't think of something appropriate for everyone to say. What to do about this?
