How to Bezel Set a Pear Shaped Cabochon Opal Using Glue -We don't use glue to avoid real setting techniques, we use glue when we have reason to believe setting alone might not be enough to hold the stone stone safely without damaging it. I will demonstrate exactly how to use glue when bezel setting a pear shaped stone and what scenarios call for this treatment. I will primarily be using my bezel setting tool #1 the Bezel Roller from my Master Setting Tools Set.

Hello Jeanette, as always you appear just in the right time. I have to glue 5 rings with pearl pegs. I will mix the glue for a longer time and I think I used too much glue, because I was always afraid that the pearl could get off. (the peg is about 2-3 mm 18 g roundwire) Thank you very much for the video and have a good start into the new week. Greetings from Germany Maren

It is always good to rough up the peg a bit, for better hold. :)

Before cured, excess epoxy glue is removed easily and cleanly with a little alcohol - hand sanitiser or gin are both ideal!

When you use wire in the inner bezel to prop up the stone, would you always use gold (for gold) and silver (for silver)? It seems almost wasteful…especially when working in such and expensive metal as gold. Have you used anything else that you can recommend?

I never use a gold inner bezel unless the back is open because, you are absolutely right, it would be wasteful. I usually use fine silver. :) If the stone is opaque, you can use copper.

Well alrighty now … you need to be here.. or perhaps I should be there! You and I could have a blast! First ~ love your videos! I’m “almost, ok … about 99% self taught” and so many people kind of turn their heads! Bastards! I’ve learned a lot from watching videos… hey, it is what it is! I recently found a place in Chicago that does teach. Unfortunately, I found that I was schooling the instructor! Freaking incredible! However, I did just sign up for their Advanced class .. we’ll see! I have a complete shop in my home… all the best tools and, I actually know how to use them! But, I have to hand it to you and the other professionals that are so fabulous to share their knowledge! Anyway, I love working with your videos! My favorite go to words when I screw something up is “oh, FUCK ME!” So, I’m fairly confident that you and I would have a great time! Thanks for all your shares and keep em coming! Teri

@@JewelryArts I’ll definitely keep you in mind should I ever find myself in the Big Apple. I’m only moments away from Chicago so that’s where I’m doing my professional education 😎. Should you ever come this way, please give me a heads up! In the meantime, I’ll continue watching Jewelry Art’s videos. They really are some of the best RU-vid offers. Teri
