This is a tutorial on how i black wash my action figures. #actionfigurereview #toyreview #mcfarlanetoys #customactionfigures #customfigure #blackwash #tutorial #painttutorial
Thank for showing this. I'm always a bit intimidated to actually add paint to figures, but actually seeing it helps to ease the nerves. My thought is that I was going to add the blackwash treatment to the McFarlane Batman prehistoric wave. All four of the figures would look great with a simple addtion of the blackwash
They make specific washes but I just make my own and I use any acrylic paint. Even the craft paint from Walmart is fine. Mix it with a little water and you have your wash. Just test it out first to see if you need to add more water or paint.
@@rickyscreativecorner8107 is it water paint or oil paint type,, thanks brother for the info i appreciate it and i always enjoy watching your reviews :)
@@metalhead8728 It’s acrylic paint (not sure if it’s oil or water based, it just says acrylic.) And I just add water. Not sure if that answered your question.
Hey man so I am planning to black wash the hot head predators armor but im wondering do I need to take him completely apart to do the armor bits seperate or am I able to just put the black paint mix on the armor and do the wash without it getting the black on his actual skin?
You can but I never do. I just am careful I don’t drip on places I don’t want. If you do you can get it off with a towel right away. Just try it on a practice piece first if possible so you can decide how thick you want the wash.
Yes. So I cover the whole figure typically in black wash unless it’s already black. Then I damp a rag and rub off the top coating. It works well. I typically use black because I like the contrast but you can also make different color washes and make it look good. Ex. If you have a light blue item you can put a dark blue wash on it.
It depends on the quality of the paint. So if I paint anything with acrylics I do not wipe away the excess with a rag but the black wash typically lays on better. If you decide to just be careful.
