Do you want to learn how to bleed a fish? Do you want to know why you bleed a fish? In this video Marlin from Addicted Fishing is going to go over the proper method for bleeding your catch and the importance of doing so. So you finally figured out everything needed to catch a fish, you hit the local water with success, and now it's time to properly take care of your catch. Bleeding your fish as soon as you catch it is one of the most important things in the quality of the meat. Blood is a substrate for bacteria to grow and make the fish go bad quicker. The lactic acid build up in the blood from stress when the fish is being caught can be a bad thing for the taste of the meat. The sooner the fish is bled and killed, the better the meat will be. We hope you learn a ton in this video so you will have better tasting fish in your future. Thanks for watching, please smash the thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe.

FYI: This fish WAS dispatched with a blunt force to the head. ALWAYS bonk the fish before bleeding it!! Keep in mind even after you kill a fish, the fish tends to still move around with its nerves. See these videos below on ways to help you kill your fish. Nice video, good to spread the word! Bleeding fish helps reduce the spoilage rate, but most of us have a cooler, fridge or freezer handy😎 One more thing, it helps with is the appearance of the fillets, you get a nice even colored fillet and after it’s cooked you don’t get the dark hair like capillaries that is most noticeable on trout and other white colored flesh.

Thank you for a great video. I have just purchased an IKEJIMA spike to humanely dispatch my fish. Fishing for trout always reminds me the fishing trip I took my then young son out on. He was all of FIVE years old. We had been fishing for Brown or Rainbow trout for almost a week and not catching anything. Eventually; my son said "I am going to try Spaghetti dad" and twirled a strand onto his hook. Strike me pink; he cast it into the water and came up with a Rainbow Trout. This five year old kid said: "MMMM Must have been an Italian fish dad!" That was forty five years ago, and that lad is now almost 50 years of age. That night, he would not surrender his trout and I found it under his pillow. We still have a hoot whenever hsi fishing trips come up. Thanks you kindly for a great post.

I have only bleed fish a couple times but I usually catch my limit of good sized trout fast enough where my fish are still trying to run for it on my stringer. Then I go back dispatch and clean, put on ice or eat fresh. Like the Addicted guys I'm in Washington so a fish source is not far from home or camp. Great video for the uninitiated, keep up the good work!

On a trout, you're wasting meat if you filet them that way. Just cut off the head, coat them in flour/salt/pepper and fry them. The meat peels away from the backbone and ribs on both sides, and you're left with many bites of delicate, delicious trout.

Are you guys serious? YOUR ALREADY KILLING THE FISH 🐟 . You think it cares if your doing it politely? 😂🤣🤣Knock him out or don't knock him out your still bleeding it out and killing it.
