The opt out option is a fake action. The activities of opt out of ads would mentally satisfy an user, but in reality it never stops any ad. Pre 2018 I used to regularly do this and was sure to note that keeping the ad personalisation ON is a better option and remove categories,by turning it off, which will take less time.
RU-vid makes it so difficult to report ads. They should give us the option since they're making money off the ads being shown to us. So much that is inappropriate cause relationship issues.
The ad blocker doesn't work, so... just pause the ad and close the video, then go to library to continue last watched video. It's annoying but it beats the $@#* system.
I've been doing this for some time. Though you might have to do it 2-3 times it's better than watching this weaponized errr I meant Personalized ads. Also I bug out then return for ads that let me opt out after 5 secs
This doesn't work anymore 😩 ads are every 2 minutes in every video I watch. It's so irritating! It's only this way on my roku tv I guess because its updated bit on my Samsung tv it's not as bad
I almost wouldn't mind ads if they were for something I'm interested in or the ad was cool, but they never are (even though the ads are supposed to be personalized).

The only real defence against unwanted adds. Hit mute and look away for the required time. I use the time to blink and look around. Never pay attention to them
Recently there has been a big change in RU-vid ads. Where it used to say at the beginning of a film or video “You can skip the ad in …. secs” it now more often than not says “VIDEO WILL PLAY AFTER ADS”. When it says this I just stop and delete the video/film. It has definitely reduced the amount of time I now spend watching RU-vid, but I have more time to do other things. Yesterday I watched a film and every 10 mins an ad came on. They were mainly skipable ones but they still ruined the film. I won’t do that again. Often a video will start and an ad will come on within 5 mins. The worst I’ve known came on after 1 minute. When any ad comes on before 15 mins I just usually just delete what I was watching.
If it is an ad that is not skippable I usually mute then start strolling down, read the comments and check out the suggested videos while planning which one I will click next, or go to another page for however long it takes for the ad to end or be skippable, now there are ads that will just stop and wait for you to come back. They are forcing you to watch them now. I had enough. I took time off of RU-vid because it it was too much and came back and now it is worse. Time for an adblocker. If they were not so pushy I would have gone premium long ago, but I refuse to be bullied into that route.
I am similar. I got so tired of this crap. Happens all the time on my Android. I have officially given up trying to watch a video on my phone through the YT app.
Doesn't not showing ads from all those companies just mean you will see the same ads over and over again from whatever is left? The amount of ads shown doesn't change.
It's fine for me i don't mind ads but the coca cola india ads are so damn annoying and youtube keep showing me them i have started purchasing pepsi now instead of any coca cola product because of their annoying janvi kapoor ads😡😡😡
My TV memories go back to pre-digital days when the uk had just 2 BBC channels and 2 commercial channels. On the commercial channels a programme would run for 20 mins before any ads, then at about 20 min intervals. Great days.
That was back when the programmes were interesting and people looked forward to watching them. Now they are just garbage and people just use them to avoid having conversations, the ads now are verging on brainwashing and manipulating people to buy all kinds of crap ! I really hate TV !
Worked... mostly. Adblock Plus works fine on a laptop, useless with Android. Used a mixture of the suggestions given here, with a few workarounds. So far so good.
I'm using a PC. Still doesn't do shit. It used to. If I can't find something that works I am just going to stop using youtube. The constant ads make it not worth it.
@@davidv6588 - Yeah, that might be the case now. I use to enjoy ad-free RU-vid via PC many years ago. On wireless, it definitely does not work. RU-vid premium? Lol
@@Bat_Boy I actually did find something that works. I googled "youtube ad blocker" and the first result was a browser plugin in for chrome. I prefer Firefox, I don't use Chrome on the PC so I had to download that. It's not perfect, but it works. When an ad is about to play the vide pauses for a second or two, but you don't have to sit through ads. Going to try to find something for firefox so I don't have to use two browsers. Glad I found this though. I was almost ready to give up on youtube. The constant ads were driving me crazy.
When using the RU-vid app I can not recognize the steps from after "Your Online Choices" at 1:53. Some other window is showed with the text "Your choices" instead of "Users Current IBA Status", and no option to choose "Continue". Its is NO longer possible to delete all the different companies. Maybe a brand new update from RU-vid to prevent users to get fewer ads? Or just different from country to country (I live in Denmark)?
Same here. Tried multiple ad blockers but they're a joke. The only way working for me is to pause the ad, close video, then go to library to continue last watched video. Annoying to keep doing but it's the only way to give RU-vid a 🖕lol
The add blocker app only works if you watch youtube from the add blocker browser app... But it doesnt block any adds from your youtube app! Meaning if you want to use the add blocking option youre forced to log into youtube from the browser otheriwise this option would not work...
RU-vid got very bad. Its just people who still keep using it. There are much better platforms and there always were better but its the people who chose RU-vid b ecause YT is owned by google and if you search for any video social media it will always show RU-vid on top. RU-vid will display ads on your video even if its not earning. RU-vid will keep displaying ads on your videos even if they demonetise it. RU-vid often have longer ads then the video you post. RU-vid tells you to PAY MONEY to remove commertials while they earn billions from many other sources like sponsors and even viewers and RU-vidrs. RU-vid has become the biggest scam of all times. Not so long ago I thought that TV licence was the biggest thief but, right not it´s RU-vid that beats everything out there.

Kind of funny, but really really annoying to me are the ads I get about Lume and applying it to your butt crack or smell your hand after you have used regular soap on your privates, how to clean pounds of waste out of your colon and all of the litter robot and litter commercials that show poop IN THE FIRST FIVE SECONDS before you skip!!! It's gross and sometimes I am eating when watching RU-vid :(
