Man! I've started using a lot of your tips and the other i went out and shot 104. This may sound high to a lot of you pros out there but to put it in perspective 2 months ago I was up around 120! So I'm stoked with how I'm progressing. Shot bro!
Thank you so much for spending time on the high handicappers!!! You are the reason hundreds of players are improving. It may be unconventional but this strategy WORKS!!!
Inspiring! This has me rethinking how I approach a course! You showed me how I can have fun on a course without losing so many balls, and my mind, with a driver!
It has taken me 3 years of consistent practice and play to just now consistently break 100. What was my main issue? MURDERING the ball. With a smooth 3/4 swing I drive 230+ yards in play. Irons are pure as well. I also learned how to get the swing plane from inside to out (slice gone) and finally I always keep 60% of my weight or more on my lead leg when I chip or pitch. But the videos here truly helped me learn how to manage the courses I play here in Florida and mitigate risk/reward scenarios. Thank you for that.... Golf is so much more enjoyable when you can see consistent improvements...
ok I am thinking this is my problem too. I went to the range probabaly 3-4 times out of the 10 days before the round I played on Sunday. I was so sure I was going to have an excellent round where I would finally break 100. I am all over the place though, while my usual miss is hitting the toe and slicing, I am extremely inconsistent when I'm playing poorly. But I am so excited to go back to the range (and hit off grass instead of mats for one as that was definitely a problem this last time) and try to lessen the power a bit. I am so excited to try this!
Managed to break 100 today- shot 99, 28 over par on a par 71. The course was the Hemet Golf Club in Hemet, California. This was my first time breaking 100, and watching your videos helped!
Yes, it’s an old video. Yes, I’ve watched a lot more recent “breaking 100” videos. But this one resonated - and I couldn’t help but give a big fist pump when BDog dropped that last putt. Again, it’s an old video (but first time watching for me) and even knowing he was going to sink it, you couldn’t help but get excited for him! 🤣 Golf needs more channels like this. Thanks Matt!
Wow!!! What a professional video... As always, great practical advice. Informative, not patronising and extremely entertaining!!! Other golf you tubers ought to be aware of the new standards being set. Keep on keeping on!! Will be taking these reminders and new tips onto the golf course tomorrow.
Thank you sir and I agree. Most 'newish' golfers would benefit fromm it. Will try make some more beginner style videos with my sister who is getting into golf and has been playing for 3 months only. I think in May June
Way to go, another gem of cinematography and golf. I can relate to the walk of shame from one bunker to another, I have done that more than once. Cute caddie too. Once again, I like the humor and sound effects very god job!!!!!
As someone who's trying to break 100 (been between 105-110 past month and a half) I love these videos!! And congrats Brian!! Haha. Great content keep it up!
I have followed many of your tips and it has vastly improved my game. I have always struggled to break 90 on a regular basis. I normally would shoot in the low 90's. Since employing many of your strategies I have lowered my scores and am shooting in the mid to high 80's more often now. I shot an 88 recently at a local course here and would have done much better had I not made some poor course management decisions and missed some key putts. You have inspired me to share my own story and I plan to start chronicling my own journey to break 90 and shoot lower scores Thank you for this channel and your tips and tricks. You are a good man sir!
Thanks for everything u do man... ur vids have helped me more than anyone else’s. Ur tips, tricks, and most importantly positive/laid back attitude toward golf have been real game changers for me. Shot my personal best round the other day (79) applying this stuff!!! 🤘🏻 keep up the good work
These vids are great. I retired and am trying to get back the 10 to 12 I played to in the early 80's in league play, It is great to have the time practice every day and play 3 times a week. I would like to improve 20 shots by the end of the summer and these course management clinics your showing are a big help to become whadaplaya. I like the one where your not trying to get it close anymore... you want to hole it. Finally getting use to the Gilligan hats...LOL
Heres a tip. I think it was Nicklaus. Never say where you don't want to go. Don't look at it. Say where you want to go. Look where you want to go. Focusing on something, even to avoid. makes you tend to go there. Anyone trying to break 100, the focus should be bogey golf. Just allow yourself one extra shot per hole, without stressing about it. Don't try to make up shots. if you miss the fairway. Put it out so the next shot is easy. if you make the green in 2 on a par 4, putt stress free knowing you get 3. Bogey golf should always be the first goal. This really is a great channel for people to watch to get more involved in golf.
I've broken 90 once and haven't done it since but I've watch like 5 of your videos today and I'm hitting the best I ever have in my life. Hope to break 90 for the second time tomorrow!
First things first I'm gonna try breaking 130. I played my first round recently after not having picked up a golf club in years, and I want to try and break 100 by the end of next year.
Haven’t commented in awhile, but your videos teach something beyond any other golf channel: mindset and decision making. Keep making videos and the world handicap will improve! :) -adam (playa)
This video was brilliant, fun hearing your voice for once, fun with the music and extra fun with the awesome british commentary. I really like your videos and after this amazing piece, you definitely earned my subscription more than ever. Well done amigo.
Thank you sit and hopefully content gets better - it's a process. Never done any of it before so I am sure as we go, I can add some more value and entertainment to you players. Welcome aboard
On holidays and played 9 holes with my brother yesterday. Rented a set at the club and discovered on the first tee that the driver was unusable. Tee'd off with the lowest iron, i6, and tried Matt's advice for the first time. Whilst by brother was out searching for balls in the rough and among trees, I was cruising on the fairway. Shot 4 lower than him. Totally believe in this method!
I have to say, I followed some of your tips and I actually shot a 44 on the front nine of my home course, parring 4 holes in a row. Thanks for the tips you have my sub to the channel!
This was really really really cool to watch. Im capable of shooting high 70s lower 80s where Im at in my golf life now. But I occasionally will still have a round well over 100. That's part of the game. I've played back to back 18's on the same course same day and have shot almost 25 strokes difference. I think that's a big thing to realize as a beginner. We don't get to play enough to be consistent enough to put that much pressure on ourselves. Try to remember the good shots in your car on the way home and forget the bad. Keep at it guys!
So glad I found this channel, definitely think about how to navigate around courses better instead of thinking about which club will get me there the quickest pending on a miracle shot. 🤔
I have a Driver, 8 Iron, Pitch, Lob Wedge and a putter. Trying to keep it simple. Will break 100 by the end of this year. Just have to keep watching your videos and keep that playa mentality. 👍
Playing Mystic Dunes Course today in Celebration Florida. It’s a links style and significantly harder than the courses I’m use to at home. But I hit my lowest score 2 days ago with a 106 lol. My goal today is to break 100 confident I can do it. Thanks for the great content.
I just saw the first Break 100 with Brian and immediately went for this second video. I really, really enjoy this content. Since i started at the back, i guess i got a lot to look forward too. Fantastic! :D For how long have Brian played golf here?
Thanks playa, in this video, Brian had only played for about a year maximum. It's been a sporadic intro to golf with life stopping him from playing much beforehand
Really like your vids, the courses look like so much fun in Malaysia. Better than the blistering heat here. Wish i had someone like you to play with me and provide tips haha
Jon Caves Heat gets blistering out here too. In April we are playing in 35 to 37 degree celcius. Here in Johor it has been quite temperate though in aJune July
I broke 100 yesterday with a 96. I used some of your course strategies. I only hit the clubs I was comfortable with and didn't choose clubs with exact perfect distance in mind.
David McBride The Golfing Gamer I couldnt agree more good sir! And once you gain confidence, you will be able to go for more and more shots without splitting. Its a journey and a process
Nice video man, its nice for me to see, ive just got out from 100 now im aiming for breaking 90 istead so please do a new video for that as well, i would love that video !
Excellent my good man. More guys could learn from your experience. Get warm, get your eye warmed up to see and feel the lines and speed. It a few balls if possible. Makes the first 4 holes much more pleasant
Hugh Rogers Like all the courses in this Johor area. Really disappointing how they are left to have poa or whatever weed creeps over them and takes over. Horizon Hills is class A but the rest down here have shocking greens. I reckon back nine the poa cost Brian three putts at least with the much slower pace.
You do play some nice classy places though. Watching more, this one looks pretty poor, but has nice views. Sadly, my game is more like this guy's. I swing it nice, but the results are similar - duffs, thins, pulls in the fairways etc. Playing off 22 for years, but don't play to it much. Like many higher cappers, we lose too many shots round the greens too. You can only do so much with your long game, if we can get better with from 100-in, we'd score better and probably boost confidence. I do a lot of the stuff in this vid, but don't improve.
Love your content bro. Bought a ping crossover 2 iron just to pretend I have your game off the tee Tried like hell to hit the Srixon. Just couldn’t get it going.
Played today and posted a 91. GOT a snowman on a par 4 and 3 lost balls cost me big time. MY home course can eat balls along the edje of the fairways. See it roll in cant find it when you look. Used a 60* from 55 yards but hit it off sand an not turf. Shot went 15 yard. Then tried to chip skulled it. And had to scramble to get on the green. Bonuse one putted lol.
I got in a bunker and had 3 attempts to get out of the front then decided to go for the low side, followed by a chip onto the green (5 shots wasted there). I teed off badly with my driver on 4 holes, out of bounds on 2 (4 wasted shots). I did have to 3 putt on a few holes, although on the plus side I also managed to 2 putt on quite a few. (Maybe another 9 shots wasted there). I just need to improve on 2 of those areas and I'll get under 100.
These are really great videos for high handicappers like myself, the tips for breaking the holes down into short irons and wedges is really helping my game. I am still having the trouble with consistency, hitting a 49 on the front and then a 57 on the back, any advice on how to keep consistency going?
Avoid anything to do with the scorecard, have someone else do it and don't let them tell you your score relative to par at any stage other than when sitting at the 19th. You're probably putting yourself under pressure after the 49 so avoid even knowing your score at any stage of the game. Are you active or sedentary? Get exercising to give you stamina for the round. Just walking or bodyweight exercises or.... Do yoga. I have just started and it's done wonders already. Keep your brain function high with sodium and potassium mixed in water. I mix 1 teaspoon himalayan pink salt and 2 teaspoons of NOSALT into 2 liters of water and drink that on the course. I also eat sunflower seeds and bananas between the 8th and 12th hole depending on how I feel. Detach yourself from everything to do with the outcome of the hole. The score doesn't matter. The process of hitting the next shot well to setup and easy following shot is the key to good golf. Outcome-based golf is very frustrating, process-based golf is a journey that can never end and will never stop being fun.
Thats great, thanks for your advice, I think its the mentality side of it and the scorecard etc rather than the physical side, to be honest I'm physically fit, running and cycling 3/4 times a week. Detaching myself from the score is the key, I'm really enjoying golf so much more since watching your videos, and it makes even the longest holes more manageable! Thanks again and keep up with the videos!
Bit of an update, had my best round of the last 2 years yesterday shooting 100 on the nose with a 49 and a 51, but more importantly I have been shotting consistently under 105 since watching your videos rather than the up and downs of the 115s etc, just wanted to say thank you, and the system of process based golf rather than outcome based golf just makes golf so much more fun
S Church Excellent news well done sir. Waddaplayuh. I have a series I am shooting and editing at the moment with a 120 shooter and my mission is to get him under 100 so so hope it will benefit you to get under 100 soon
