Love this! Back when I played regularly, doing the PBR method (without knowing what it was) whenever I got frustrated really helped me break that 90 barrier consistently. Now, I’m picking things up again after nearly 20 years and will have to be really patient in my mental game. Great advice!
I broke 100 immediately when I realized I was swinging way too hard at the ball, instead of just swinging through the ball and I played every hole with the intention of leaving myself with a par putt if possible and a bogey putt at worst. I was still firing at greens when the opportunity was there but giving myself that extra stroke on the tee box kept me from trying shots I don't have in my toolbox. I hit a long iron off all but one tee, kept myself in the fairway or close to it and didn't put myself OB off the tee. That was the game changer for me.
Yes! That's the way I broke 90 for the first time. Swing smooth and club up to get it close to the green if not on. And then short game takes over. Realizing I didn't need to hit it 280 off the tee every time with the risk of hitting it OB to still make pars.
