Well done video! This little tea ball is such a perfect idea. I love that it's made from whole leaf, not broken bits. It makes a beautiful sight in the cup. I must give these a try for sure.
For most teas I would agree with you but puerh was made for long haul tea steeping and I can assure you it was just getting started and lasted 10 more steeps easily.
How many ml is the gaiwan that you used for this video? I know I keep asking the same sort of questions! I'm just curious because I want to start brewing tea using this method.
Crimson Lotus Tea I'm starting a tea blog called moonlight mooshu and I'm trying to learn as much as possible without a gaiwan but I'll get there! I hope I get to try your product soon I love your videos :)
Crimson Lotus Tea I'm trying but one of my stories is about how you can get good tea and teaware when you have low income like me :) I'll get one somehow..... I think the one I saw for almost $9 is 160ml..... I hope it's not too big but I'll figure that out too..... can't wait for more videos from you guys!
Crimson Lotus Tea I ended up getting a travel gaiwan that will be here tomorrow. I think its 130 ml and I was wondering what amount of tea I should use..... I just realised that it's quite large to start with but it came with a matching cup :/ AND this technique works great for the moonlight white balls too! Hope to add you to my blog soon as I should be ordering your beginner puerh set and a couple others :)
There is so much good information in your video. Unfortunately a lot of it is lost because you allow your voice to slide from a nicely projected volume down to a difficult to hear and understand speaking "in your beard." (That's a phrase applied to those who follow that pattern of speaking. It has nothing to do with your handsome, well-maintained beard!) Have you watched you video? I think it is good and think working on a more consistent volume would serve you well and do wonders!
Why you take 6 minutes to explain how to do this when it's as simple as 1. Put it in your gaiwan, don't break it up first 2. Brew as normal Two 30-second rinses are definitely not necessary, that's just throwing away tea.
In my experience the washes are necessary to allow for the heavy compression to get the leaves to a steepable state. This video is a guide to how we brew this tea. You are more than welcome to brew it however you deem necessary. I would encourage you to try it this way at least once.
