I'm going back and watching a lot of your videos. I have to say, your channel is a great resource. You cover the bases really well, never really push into tools or techniques that are beyond even a fairly basic woodworker, but you really do a great job executing to a high quality finish. Definitely a hidden gem of a channel. Really, great job man.

Looks great! Next time put more batting over the foam. It not only stops the fabric from catching on the foam, but it also "fluffs" it out so the fabric stays taut. Also, when attaching the fabric, staple a few spots in the middle of one side, and then move to the opposite side and attach it in the middle. Then do the same on the adjacent sides. Once all the "middles" are stapled, work towards the corners on each side. This will give you a much better finish. Your project turned out great! Thanks for the video

Great job. My only concern is you covered up the old electrical box. You mentioned you put the drawers on that side to provide access, but you didn't cut a hole in the back to access it. Should be an easy fix though if you know where the box is 🙂

I'm not sure where you're located, but here in Ontario Canada, it's illegal to bury that electrical junction box. You either have to remove the junction completely or cut access through the back of your built in cabinet

Thanks for sharing. This one definitely had some useful tips and got the wheels turning, love that idea of adding grooves to the drawer faces. We have a nook in our entryway that could use a bench, so bookmarking this for sure. How do you like your table saw? I am getting closer and closer to wanting one and the portable/contractor category is what I want due to space constraints. However, on other channels and forums I've heard those can be hit or miss in regards to the fence staying square and locking tight. Have you had any issues with keeping the fence and/or blade true to the bed on that Dewalt?
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt 2 года назад
Not at all. I prefer using it over my Ridgid saw in the shop. I’ve always heard this one considered the best overal job site saw!

And, I say well-trained young are safe near windows on upper stories. We had our daughter disciplined not to jump nor stand on her bed that was near a 2nd story window. We kept a long chain ladder underneath for emergency escape to the driveway below (My dad & 2 of 3 brothers were career fire/paramedics -- nuff said). The other window was too close to electric service lines for her to safely egress 😬.

I understand tear out as I do a lot of woodworking. But does cutting in this method on the miter saw really do anything? Is there any literature out that backs it up? I have never done this and I never have an issue with finish work... Sacrificial fence and a good zero clearance. I just don't get it. If it's a real thing I'd love to hear physics behind it. Does everyone just do it because it's an exploding trend people watch on DIY RU-vid woodworking projects? (I'm not trying to be keyboard muscle troll here) But, Seriously, is this a real thing?
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt Год назад
I’m not even sure what miter saw method you’re referring to man?
@10Briguy
@10Briguy Год назад
@@JohnBuildsIt When you pass the blade back and forth not cutting all the way through at once. Taking a little bit at a time. Like I said, I keep seeing people doing it. What does it do? I know it seems like a stupid question but, I'm asking it. :) I'll take the flak for it. If you're a 10 I'm probably a 2.5 at skill level. Is it to not put too much heat into the blade when cutting thick material? IDK that's why I'm asking.
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt Год назад
@@10Briguy right. Just cutting less material at a time. Easier on the saw and blade after it’s a little dull
