@thedonker526 still recycling, it goes through another cycle of use and is still just clean aluminum and totally recycleable again my smelting it all if needed
I was making cardboard armor, it take a year, because here where I live usable cardboard is quite rare, I just need to make the chestplate, and I gonna follow your videos to finish this, thank you so much! Keep up with the amazing work dude!
This is the best tutorial I’m come across so far. Thank you for the clamp idea. I’ve had all my friends saving up ring tabs and I reckon I have about 3000 now. I’m just making sleeves and adding a few rows to the bottom of my faux leather Viking shirt for effect. Great work 👍🏻
Awesome!! I’m so glad to hear you’re making progress on it chainmail! Don’t forget to maintain it and constantly check the armor after use. I’ve had my whole tunic sent 2021 and it is still in great shape. I always make sure to have a few extra to repair after use.
I’ll have you know I never imagined having a use for them either, but I tried to put my projects to use by making movies and skits which you could try doing. Maybe if you tell your mother that you plan to make fun little movies with them she’ll be on board lol not to mention this project isn’t that expensive if you were to buy the soda tabs… never stop being creative!
Tysm for this video!! I wanted to make a tank top out of soda tabs (I dress in a gothic style and I thought it would look cool) and this video helped me out so much!!
bro its amazing to see how far youve come ive been here since 40 subs then i got a new acc and then forgot about you and now i found you again and 2k????? bro you got me through 2020 thank you so much man
Do you recall how long this took to assemble? Just the vest? I’ve got a really neat idea for a Halloween costume and need to know how much time I should set aside to make it
I completed one side in about a week The other side took like half a year because I was lazy but if you dedicate your time to it you’ll get it done in about two weeks and even with breaks but any free time you have spend it bending and clipping soda tabs The fun part is assembling them
Dude I just found your channel and your work is amazing!! ✨🤩 I was wondering if you could show how to make a cape out of theses? I can't find anything..
Thank you for the video and the tips! I am working on one, and REALLY struggling on keeping the tabs together! How do you best recommend dealing them so it doesn’t fall apart?
Make sure you close the gaps of the tabs a little extra so they kinda overlap and maintain that same process every time you use your mail. That should help it did with mine and remember soda tab chain mail is mostly decorative and I only use it for quick shots but if you want Chainmail, it doesn’t fall apart, probably suggest getting a Mail maker to make you steel mail
a.co/d/24pKhOF you can search on Amazon “soda tabs” and get the same results and they are cheap for 1000s of them and yea they came i. Good condition. However I always wash them in a bucket of soap or oxi clean and let them air dry on a towel or newspaper
It took me about two weeks and that is if you make this a free time activity anytime you get a chance start bending tabs and assembling them and then after two weeks you should have a decent tunic
3:00 if that works, then theoretically speaking, could you not take to boards, clamped together, with tabs down both sides? also, if you're doing sleaves and the like, you could bend a piece of cardboard around your arm to the right size, and link enough tabs to cover the cardboard for easy measurements.
Yes you could double them up it just takes longer. I was only willing to do one layer for the time I had which was till Halloween that ear. I also made shoulder pads to break the angle between my shoulder to connect the tunic to the sleeves.
Great question the answer to that is if you don’t bend them, then the flexibility just does not exist. As a matter fact, I doubted the purpose of bending them as well and then I tried linking them together flat and the chain mail affect just did not work. link a bunch of flat tabs together they will not bend or they’ll only bend in one way, I tried.
But since the tabs are snipped open, just because you pushed it back together, how do you know it won't fall apart? Aluminum isn't the strongest thing in the world, I feel like this would break after several uses.
Every time I wear the tunic a check to make sure they’re closed every single time and I’ll constantly maintain and repair it but surprisingly it doesn’t fall apart as much as you think it would you just got a maintain it that’s all
If you don’t bend them, then there will be no flexibility in the chainmail. try it, make a small sheet without bends and with Bends, and you will see the difference
