Phenomenal work. One tip for the future, You welded the frame on a not so flat floor, to remedy that, every surface can be made flat with 3 points of contact. Basically make a large cross with sturdy steel sufficient enough for the project, then support it at 3 points with machinist jacks, captive nut and bolt or whatever you want. Then clamp your frame together on that, get it square (not flat) then use the level to level everything length wise, turn the level perpendicular and make sure the pieces are square to each other. Do a diagonal measurement to make sure your still square. Then tack weld alot before final welding. I had to build a massive ibeam structure that was going to be lifted to a nearby mountain, in the middle of a dessert. Tape measures, levels, plumb bobs and soapstone. I didnt think of this but it has worked for me so many times. The cross we made was 30’x20’.
How did you mount your torch? I’ve been looking back at all the videos and can’t seem to see how you did it. Did you build a custom fixture for the body of the torch or did you take advantage of commercially available torch mounts?
Hi, thank you for your patients with the slow reply. I did build a custom mount. I didn't really go in to any detail in any of the videos, but I used my phone to scan the torch and created like a negative mold of that and added mounting points and then 3d printed that. I believe the model and file is included in the CAD so you can look there. Is this a video you would be interested in seeing? How I made this part?
Hey love the channel!! On the Slats, did you think of haveing them all bow out from the middle? thamks for the parts list! do you have a tools list? -jeff
Hi, I don't understand the first question. Glad you like the parts list. I don't have a tool. List though you probably only need a welder and a way to cutter the metal and some basic tools.
Hi, i am going to build one. But i am wondering if its better to use a waterbed or a floor grate. And a big funnel under. And do i need 3 axis (do i need the torch height controller?). Or can i use 2 axis. Thanks :)
Sweet! The water table helps keep the fumes and particles under control. It also has the added benefit that you can immediately pick up the parts after your cut. Without the water table, the parts are hot right after cutting. I don't cut very much thin material but I do believe it helps with warping during the cut of thin material as well. But my first build had no water table and it was fine it just created a lot of fumes and particles. You don't really need the 3rd axis but you will need some way of adjusting the height of the torch unless you are cutting the same thickness of material all the time. I currently don't have a THC with this machine but the THC will help a lot with your cut quality as well as making your consumables last longer.
Yeah I did no reduction, just to make things more simple. With the plasma cutter it won't see super high torque. Though to be honest I probably should have had one especially that I want to use it as a wood and foam router as well.
Great job with the design. Have you considered replacing parts of the gantry with aluminum to reduce weight? I'm trying to plan a cnc build right now, thank you for the downloadable plans they are exactly what I needed.
How are you goin with it Tony? I'm interested in aluminium also because i have a CNC router to make parts like those gantry end plates . i think this machine is way to hefty and expensive for CNC plasma it will be terrific when its got router stuff on it later . terrific content Tosh and great of you to share the Cad files keep it up ...
@@ToshDavis thank you bro me and my friend are going to attempt this sometime soon going to start stockpiling some metal 😁 and get your plans printed out 😁
I've decided to add some more stuff to this specific video. I just want this video to finish the build where you can build it after this next video yourself. So it will be a couple more days of filming and editing.

@@ToshDavis Thats what I thougt, i am waiting to...take your time Tosh, but ehmm maybe this year...😅😅, thanks anyway for uploading so far, cheers from the Netherlands.

I am looking forward to Part 4 aswell. But please dont feel any pressure, I know very well what it takes to just editing a video and not just that, you are building a highly advanced tool on top of that👏🏻👍🏻I really appreciate the time n effort u r putting in for us🙏🏻 You have a new subscriber champ🙂🍻
Thank you!!! It honestly has been more work than I anticipated. Though if it's helping people out it's worth it! I am almost done, this video will be a beast though, I'm just putting some finishing touches on the video, but it's 1 hour and 15 minutes long, crazy!
