Here, we'll show you how to build a custom BBQ using cement blocks to match the look of this home. This home in Palm Springs goes for the minimal look with the clean modern feel. We prefer warmer tones but we can create anything a client wants!

Did u guys dig by hand to get backyard prepped for the artificial turf or which machine/tool did you use?
@DCLAUniverse
@DCLAUniverse 3 года назад
That’s actually not artificial turf. But yes our Landscaoer prep by hand.

I love those blocks with the groove creating the square patter, what is that called?
@santosreyes8690
@santosreyes8690 3 года назад
The square pattern is very nice and simple with a mid century modern feel…would like an answer on the type of block as well. Nice project, nothing over the top

I'd like to know as well. It makes a huge difference. Edit: figured it out. It's called a scored cinderblock. Thinking about doing something similar but using cinderblock adhesive instead of mortar.

Why are the blocks not offset? Is it ok because it is not really meant to be structural as in a building? Aesthetically it looks good like that.
@dannyc8008
@dannyc8008 5 лет назад
It’s not Structual. Its ok to not stager. If it was a normal wall or load bearing it would need rebar and concrete poured
@raykupal
@raykupal 4 года назад
@@dannyc8008 yeah ... the countertop is only about 400 lbs. it's not like it needs to widthstand side loads or wind like a building.

whats the best block to use for BBQ island?
@DCLAUniverse
@DCLAUniverse 2 года назад
I would say any butcher block is ok but be sure that its at least 1inch thick
@blackvern

i wish there were a bit more details. there seems to be a huge jump from the first row of blocks to the counter tops and equipment being placed

The finish on the bottom of the countertop no bueno could be prevented by stripping the form before its unworkable and finish that bottom edge

That wouldn’t fly in FL no access for gas shut off on grill. Key valve for fire pit right where the fire is no good. Not to mention no ventilation for pit or ODK

How much would a bbq island like that cost?
@DCLAUniverse
@DCLAUniverse 5 лет назад
Sorry for the delayed response. Cost was around 2500 labor and material
@adrianitis3750
@adrianitis3750 5 лет назад
Probably cheap because it’s cheaply made. It’s not meant to be part of the home so it won’t last a long time so I would say labor- $500 and material -$1k. 3-4 days project.

Sam the only things I'd want more info on were the utilities gas line and electrical. Other than those specs, I'm seeing a very nice project... Useful and a great addition to the home.
