February 10, 2018: An Easy DIY PVC Project!
In this video I will show you an easy way to make artificial fish habitat for your ponds or waterways. This artificial cover is appealing to most species of fish and can become your own secret fishing spot. Best of all, you can build this project for under $20 and it only takes about 10 minutes to complete! Before placing these into public waterways, be sure and check your local regulations.
Materials Needed:
One - 5 Gallon Bucket with Lid
One - 50-100 foot roll of 1/2" Sprinkler Tubing
One - 60lb back of concrete mix
Tools Needed:
Drill with 5/8" drill bit
Stirring rod for concrete mix
If you enjoy my videos, please take a moment to like, subscribe, and leave a comment. If you build your own fish attractor after watching my video, I'd like to see it. You can send me a photo of it through one of my social media accounts listed below. Thanks and have a great day!

Great job. I have a tip once you get lid on bucket make sure the handle is up then place pipe in top holes. Makes lowering in water Easier. Also double the rope and lower in the water once on bottom release one end of rope and pull up. That way you don't have to cut the rope. Tku

You read my mind. I need a few brush piles and was thinking something like this could work. I was going to use some old garden hose, but this will definitely stand up better. I can taste the crappie already.

personally I would put some bamboo in those top holes or wood branches about 6 foot or bigger.

Very nice. Will be building a few over winter to deploy in spring. Question, do you need to add weight? Seems like the bucket full of water would be enough weight? Thanks!
@TheWeekendAngler
@TheWeekendAngler 6 месяцев назад
You need the weight or it will float. Concrete is cheap and does the job well.

Nice idea! Do you put a screw or two in the lid around the edge to keep it from popping off from the air rushing out as you lower it? Notice you left an empty hole in the lid so the air could escape. Just a FYI... poured many a bridge footing w concrete for State projects that were underwater when poured. Believe it or not, concrete will set up fine underwater. It is not necessary to let the concrete set for days before sinking your pile. Nice channel. I will follow!

I ended up using some wire to tie the lid to the bucket. I'd actually heard concrete would set up underwater, but never knew whether that was actually true or not. Thanks for the confirmation.

how about black irrigation pipe 3/4in 8 to 10ft long sticking all angles out of bucket, some attached to float to hold them up. About a 8ft diameter by 8ft tall attractant. Should attract more fish. thx for your vid tho. I'll watch the rest soon.

what size pvc tubing are you using? Great video!!!

I believe it was 1/2" but 3/4 would work too.

What's the best way to lower them into the lake to make sure they are standing up ?
@TheWeekendAngler
@TheWeekendAngler 4 года назад
The trick is you have to hold your mouth just right or they fall over. Seriously, though, If you can rig up a rope with some kind of hook on it, you can usually lower it to the bottom and feel for it to touch correctly before giving it slack and letting the hook drop loose from the rim of the bucket.
@glenncollins9994

I would make sure the handle is in the up position and use a long rope keeping bucket handle in center. When it gets to bottom pull one end of rope till all rope is back in boat.
@Mudring76

That's what I ended up doing 👍

Nice, but why don't you just fill the bottom with small rocks? A lot easier than screwing with concrete and would still be more than heavy enough to keep it held down and make it stay upright.
@TheWeekendAngler
@TheWeekendAngler 2 года назад
Only problem is if it happens to spill that bucket is going to float. Plus a bag of Concrete is like $5.

@@TheWeekendAngler fill the bucket half way with rocks...set in the water and let it down with a rope and hook until is sits flat. Just saves a trip to Lowes Home Depot, etc.

I suppose I have to check with DNR before dropping these in the lake.
@TheWeekendAngler
@TheWeekendAngler 5 лет назад
I would definitely check with the DNR before putting them in any public Waterway. Now, if you were putting these in a private pond, go right ahead.

Good video but fot those that are on a budget.......how about a concrete block for $1.75, discarded limbs or trees from the street and two 6 ft peices of poly rope. Maybe $3.00 spent each. Why do we think we need to buy $25.00 in materials and play in messy concrete for hours? I can build about 8 for the price of your one. Hickory or cedar will last at least 15 years or so. Good video and thanks for sharing.

Ummm, why not put your mix in the buckets prior? Just asking. I know common sense is way over-rated. Tell your viewers they will need an extra bucket to waste (for some reason). Ha.

Tim Hargraves you can but it's going to be nearly impossible to stir it with all the tubing in place.
