@lawnandlight

It shouldn’t be a problem to reapply. The holes are just where it settled. Do a quick Google search to confirm that though.

@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight 3 года назад
Hey Tamara. Unfortunately yes. If it’s sinking and shifting now it will continue to do so. Dig it out, put a good 2-4” base in and pack with a tamp then lay new flagstone path. The thicker the base and better the packing, the longer it will stay just how you build it. Now go kick that job in the teeth!! Blessings!

@@lawnandlight I can see from your comments your not at all interested in others opinions. I'm going to anyway. Your idea of building dirt up there on the outside of that plastic wall is a really bad idea. You should of sunk everything deeper leaving a more level lawn/stone. Your instruction how to do this was fine but the end result is what I'm talking about.

Would this work for a large area as well like connecting an existing patio to a pool decking ?
@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight 3 года назад
Hey Joseph. Yes it’s the same process for a patio. However. Make sure you do your research if you have consistently colder weather than our climate in East Texas. Some of the materials and thicknesses may need to be adjusted.
@skags81

@@lawnandlight okay awesome I’m over here in Bossier so I know what you’re talking about. Thanks I really appreciate it. I was worried that I would have to put like a 4in gravel base after the geotech fabric. But that makes it easier.
@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight 3 года назад
@@skags81 10 4. I would just say that the more base you put in and the more you compact the dirt, the longer that the patio will stay where you installed it. If we were doing a patio, we would rent a compactor to get the dirt good and tight before laying base and then also compact the base material. With the walkway that we installed in this video, it wasn't imperative to be perfect. Therefor, some shifting over time was not a big deal to the client. Sorry I didn't answer your question correctly the first time. I thought you had watched the other video where we talk about building on concrete. If you are doing this for a customer, I would definitely install more base and use a compactor. If you are doing it for yourself and are ok with some shifting over time, then this method would be fine. Hope that helps.

If it were my project at my house, I would want the walkway to follow the grade. This will prevent the walkway from impeding drainage away from the side of the house. Just make sure the stones edges do not create a trip hazzard.

@lawnandlight

We like the way bend-a-board holds up better in the long run. The metal will rust and degrade over 5-10 years and fall apart.
