In today's episode, we do a house project and build a DIY Bar in the basement. I went into this with no knowledge of how to build a bar or what to do and literally came up with everything as we went. We started with a tape design on the floor and measured everything out from there. We then went and got some wood and supplies and figured out how we wanted our bar to be constructed. This bar was thought of, designed, and built in 2 days. With some basic DIY skills and a can do attitude, you can do these types of home projects yourself!

I'd put a matching table top on that back wall and maybe a wall mounted wine rack and glass rack instead of the one you got below. Maybe a few more cabinets down below for storage as well. Looks great tho.

I have not added it yet, but it is adjustable. I can put on the flame without the heat or adjust the temperature. I keep debating on what the right move is

I used the appropriate sized screws and secured it from underneath. Another option is liquid nails or something similiar.

Hello DIY Salvage Guy, I just finished my basement and I am interested in building this type of bar as I feel it’s a project that’s within my wheelhouse. When your showing your build at the 5:00 mark, what was the height on the front 2x6 going across the front and then also the back vertical boards by the camera?
@DIYSalvageGuy
@DIYSalvageGuy 2 года назад
I'll measure them and get back to you tomorrow.

Actually, you need to buy your chairs/bar stools to determine the exact height. Make adjustments according to your chair seat tops. Ideally, 24 to 30 inches apart horizontally but never closer than six inches apart. Bar tables/bars tops are about 42 inches from the floor. Vertical. So you'd want your chair seat tops to be 30 inches from the floor (12 inch difference). If there is an apron on the counter or thickness, a comfortable distance for knees below is 8 to 10 inches, so a 4 to 2 inch thickness/apron. Bar chair seat tops are all different heights from the floor. So, like I said...get your chairs first.

So where do you drive it from and how are you going to drive it out of your basement?

@@DIYSalvageGuy 😂 it looks awesome and especially for a single day build! I'm sure it'll bring more laughs and good times in your basement too, although seeing a bar driving down the road would be awesome too! 🤣

@@DIYSalvageGuy yea i was talking about the sink you put in on 12:53 just cos I'm doing a similar thing now and was wondering if you put in running water or waste water system
@DIYSalvageGuy
@DIYSalvageGuy Год назад
No running water. It's a dry sink. I have a bucket underneath it to catch anything. It's more or less just a ice holder or a dump sink. Adding plumbing is a way bigger job than I was prepared to do in a day.

@DIYSalvageGuy
@DIYSalvageGuy 2 года назад
The real purpose is to show you that you don't need to learn. Get a design in mind. Make some cuts on some wood. Support that wood and make it your own. This video shows that you can do it without any knowledge or skill. There isn't much to learn about cutting and measuring wood. Just make it even and have fun with the design.
