If you get a fatal error on your website instead of the blank page you're supposed to be seeing right after enabling the template, all you have to do is continue with activating the plugin as well and the error will be removed and you will see the effects take place on your website. Great tutorial by the way, learning a lot!
. Hi, I solved it by doing following. I had the same problem. I had no html editor button available and when i entered the code from Demo site in the editor and saved it, i could see code on the front end in feature window. I struggled lot to find out solution and luckily found it. It works for me perfectly. Go to Extension and then select Module Manager Select your slide "feature" - (Whatever you gave it name) Add code in text window without any editor etc. [carousel] [carousel_item] :-) [/carousel_item] [/carousel] Check the position Button and make sure that under dropdown menu - Shaper_helix_ii - you have selected the right custom position "feature". Then go to the options and select Prepare Content "YES". It has solved my problem. :-) Hope that helps.

Anyone who does not have any idea of Joomla will become confident to create web sites in Joomla. Great Video Tut... For those who could not get the slide working . Please go back to helix website and download the "shortcode generator" and install it to Extension Manager , once done activate the short code generator from plugin Manager and then go back to your slide page and right at bottom of the editor you should now find a shortcode generator button , select and choose how many slides you need...pretty easy from there !

Yes you can. Just install a local webserver on your computer and you can design your page and only upload to a host server when you are done. XAMPP and WAMPSERVER are two such free local webservers......

Probably because I am totally new, but when I make the textslider, it would display all of the text including the carousel stuff. I finally figured out that under options you need to say yes to Prepare Content. Yeah, it works as expected
Ah, I figured it out. The difference is attributed to the position. I used feature as oppose to user 1, as you did with your image slider. At any rate, thanks for this video.
Don't take this the wrong way, because I did click on this video link in an attempt to learn why people use joomla. But I could have create that website from scratch in the time it took to put that together. Also, I am by no means bragging, nor do I think I am an amazing web designer, because I am sure there are people that can create such websites in half the time that I can. By the way, I'm not 'trolling', but I am sure that there are at least 500 people that have viewed this tutorial that would completely agree with me. It seems that every Joomla tutorial is at least an hour long on RU-vid!
A static website is completely different to a "Content Management System". That is the aspect you missed and why people use Joomla. Don't worry about the look. That is down to you. Focus on the features it will give you.
Go to the Template Manager >> choose the Shaper Helix II template when the template control panel displays the choose Basic, in the footer settings turn off Helix Logo. Then happy days.
I went to download the helex 2 framework and it doesn't have the "plug-in" that you talked about in the video. They must have a newer version. I think it is V 2.2 Where can I get the Version you used in your video so I can get the plugin?
I too am having trouble with the carousel - I've uploaded the helix shortcodes plug in but it's still not working. I'm still just seeing all the html displayed within the browser. What have I missed??
