Hi, I have gone through your RU-vid presentation on building a Wordpress website. thank you! It was very helpful. I'm moving from the Blogspot platform, so you can imagine how thrilled I am to see the improvements at Wordpress. Two things I wasn't clear on: 1) I want my homepage to have an image that I have created. Everytime someone goes to the home page, I want this image to show along the top 1/3 of the screen. 2) I don't know if Wordpress altered its code since your presentation, but I could not find the links to add my logo. .When I .searched to add a logo, every place I visited instructed me to add code to the site. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey bobby, you can embed youtube videos by copy and pasting the embed code... For audio you can use a service like soundcloud. There are also a few plugins for audio and video if you want to host it on your own server... A quick google search would come up with a lot of results. I recommend using a third party service like yt or soundcloud as their players are top quality and fast loading.

Hey Laura, the only activating that you have to do is to activate the plugin on the Plugins page.

Thank you for helping me to set up my blog using WordPress. This tutorial was so helpful as I'm not very technically savvy. I do have one question. When I share my blog on Facebook, no thumbnail or picture comes up. How do I add one? I've tried several different plug ins and can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I love this tutorial. One question, some of my featured pictures cover or partially cover the menu of the images that lines the bottom. Guessing the images are just too large but possibly there is a setting I'm missing? Any ideas?

Thanks for tutorial, A small query: Widgets were added to a position. And all added widgets come up on the webpage where template renders that holing position. I am looking for a way to associate widget with the page. For example in above tutorial, on secondary position, I need twitter feed to be present ONLY on home page. And for other pages ideally i need a different widget there instead of twitter feed. (more like in joomla terms: assigning a module to selected menus) Thanks in advance,

Hi Tony, I just had a similar problem. It went away when I found an unused text box with a bad image code in it in the header area widget box. So I removed the text box from the header area widget box. The square went away.

I am having trouble with the home page and image slider i wanted to build the site first and write a few things before I pay for hosting just so I can have some content first, and a lot of the things in the dash board are way different from mines so i am having trouble finding a few things..

My featured images display small and cropped on the home page. Whats up with that? Title shows underneath as well, not on top of the image. Doesn't look like the theme says it will.

Hi there, great video and I have installed Oxygen and it looks great! However one problem. When marking a post as secondary I have noticed that on the Home page it shows an empty box above the post where I would assume a picture would be inserted as for a Primary post. I guess wordpress is acting as the host as well. Some of the menu options are different but it all works the same to the most part. I just can't seem to get the layout down. Hi, I'm trying to understand you video. HOWEVER, there are a few options missing in my wordpress. Like you added "top" than "side" I do not have that ability to just click on a new tab. The other issue is "Theme Locations" I clicked on Theme but it only brings me to select new themes. I am NOW wondering if its be/cuz your in a wordpress with more options. Is there an answer? And second is there another tutorial using a wordpress of what we have?

I am having one big problem. "Theme settings" doesn't show up for me. I have a "Customize" option instead. I want to put my logo in, but all I can do is place it in a header box, there is no slot for "Logo". I even reset my dashboard to default and re-installed the theme..... Great Video! How long is it supposed to take after you do the quick install. I've waited about a day and I got a call from host gator they wanted to confirm my account. I thought thats what it was but every time I click here or admin all it gives me is a blue cloud screen and it says "my site". Help please!
