Tommy, this was great~! I had the absolute pleasure of seeing you walk thru this project today at the Atlanta Woodworking Show (I was the retired Army-guy from Augusta, GA). My wife walked over to the stool, gave it the once over, and then gave me "the look". All that was left was for me to ask her "how many?" I'll be purchasing this plan from you as it looks like fun(?) having watched this video. I was invaluable being able to get your insights as you explained and showed us the details, the jigs, and other tips for tackling this project. Also, the method for cutting the wedges is Wicked~!! Thanks so much and it's great to see you in action again~!!

Can you make the compound angles on the seat before,you carve the curves?

Yes .. but it’s tough on the mortise bit because your going through the full thickness of the blank

Do the inside faces of the legs need to be made parallel once the angles are cut on the outside faces? It seems like the inside faces are down when the mortises are bored on the mortising machine.

The backs are down on a slanted ramp .. I do it this way do the mortise chisel comes through the back and not the face I get a bit of blow out Aron the MC

@@TommyMac1 Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. Are plans for making the necessary jigs in the booklet?

@@darrellreed7044 no.. the jigs for the table saw are just longer angles of the side and end .. and making a mortiser plan I felt was only good if guys had my type of machine … plus all you need to do is make small angle blocks if your making just 1 stool .. ya know .. trust me once you get going and get your head around this project creating ways to make the cuts and mortises will be more clear

@@TommyMac1 ok well I’m going to give it a go anyway as I have some lovely black walnut for seats and cherry for legs and stretchers. I can make a drill guide for mortising the seat and compound angles are pretty easy. Wish me luck!
