This video is a tutorial on a DIY Bar stool. They look great and are cheap and easy to build. They should cost around $10 each depending on where you get the lumber and how many you build. The more you build, the cheaper they will be.

I love the stool. Inserting the dowels, and cutting off gives it a clean finish . I only needed one for my workshop.

Those are great and very easy to build. I slightly changed the bottom braces and installed it horizontally sticking out about an inch. Shaved the corners like a seat. Made it for a great foot rest. Love it. Thank you.

Do you have a video on how to make the table, that’s in the shot at the beginning of the video ? Thank you.
@DIYMAN
@DIYMAN 4 года назад
I don’t, but I do have something very similar. I made a “kitchen buffet” which can be built without the upper cabinet. It is essentially a table with an upper cabinet on it. If you are building my bar stool design in the video, you will also need to make the legs 41-42” long instead of what I have in the video to make it more comfortable to sit at. Check it out, it’s a very simple design. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0fC4EBXHbIY.html

So I saw this video as one of the first options on Barstools DIY and I love them. I was wondering for the (2x3) and it says 3 pieces. That means (3) 2x3's correct? And for the dowel Rod 1 of those would probably work 3-4 barstools correct? Also, I was wondering if i wanted to increase the seat width could I do 18in and adjust the leg height to 34in?
@DIYMAN
@DIYMAN Год назад
Yes, it’s been a while, but I believe you need three 8 foot 2x3s for each barstool. 1 dowel rod should be enough for 4 barstools. I’m sure the seat width would be easy to adjust, but you might have to tweak the angle a little bit if you change the height

Thanks for the video. I may have missed it, but what do you generally sell these for in your area?
@DIYMAN

They sell better in sets. I would charge $200 for the set you see here. Seems low, I live in a rural area in Oklahoma so customers don’t usually have a ton of extra money

Been needing one of these for my shop. I assume you can make the legs as long as you need. Correct?
@DIYMAN
@DIYMAN 4 года назад
Yes, just keep in mind, if you don’t change the angle at the top and bottom, the base will be larger. Adding a couple inches shouldn’t change it too much though. Trigonometry is not my strong suit 😂

@lucasloveman3851

So this is pretty much my first woodworking project, but i have an issue ive encountered with the legs. When ever im drilling them to the seat as soon as the screw exits the leg and starts to drill into the seat it pushes the leg up (even though im pushing down on the leg as hard i can with my other hand). And it kinda throws it a TINY bit off and even after i drill it in all the way it still seems like the leg isnt fullllly connected to the seat. They seem like somewhat wobbly, which is fixed by the bracing but i cant help but think im doing something wrong.
@DIYMAN
@DIYMAN 3 года назад
This issue is pretty common, especially if you are using hardwood to make these barstools. First, are you using pocket screws to connect your legs? If you aren’t, and the screws are too thick (or the threads arent right for the wood) it can cause this. If you are making these out of a hardwood, they make screws specifically for this. Second, if you are using a drill instead of an impact gun to install these screws, it won’t have as much torque when installing the screws. This will make it tough to get a tight fit too. If I’m using a drill to assemble these and I run into this issue, I will install the screw about a quarter of an inch then reverse it, then in a half an inch, reverse, then it should go in all the way. Another thing you can try is to add paraffin wax to the head of the screw and this can help it go in easier. I hope this helps you! Best of luck!
@lucasloveman3851
@lucasloveman3851 3 года назад
@@DIYMAN i gotta say it might be the screws cause im just using 2 1/2 in screws (I think there deck screws which i tbought would work fine cause i figured wood is wood haha) which i probably should be using the 2 in pocket screws specifically for the pockets which i saw that you mentioned in another comment. But i am just using whitewood and a drill. Im going to just try using the different screws and do the in and out method you just said and see if that works out. Thanks man!

Can I use 2x4s??
@DIYMAN
@DIYMAN 4 года назад
Yes. The easiest way to do that would be to rip them down to 2.5" wide like a normal 2x3 because it will throw off your angles and they will not fit at the seat top without trimming them. Let me know if you are able to make that work. I'd love to see the result on our Handmade DIY Projects Facebook Page.
