Thanks so much for this video. Having done minimal DIY before, I bought myself a mitre saw and have just completed a 360cm x 90cm lean to shed with doors either end. Even my wife said she can’t believe how good it was. I copied your design and used the fixings discussed in the comments section. Thanks again. Shame I can’t share my pictures of it!

Hi, will definitely refer to your video when attempting to build my lean in shed. One thing - working for a gas network, I noticed your meters are enclosed in the structure, and that would be classed as an ovebuild, which is a safety issue. In case of gas leak on that part of the service, gas can cumulate to an explosive level when any spark can set it off. You should apply for service altertion through your gas network. Cheers!

Hi. Great job. Very nice way to seal the roof against the existing wall. Can I ask 3 questions if you have time to answer them: 1. How did the seal where the bottom of the walls connect to the concrete base. Are you getting any water ingress there? 2. At 13.26 - what are you painting on the roof? 3. At 13.35, What is the black stuff you have joining the wall to the roof? Many thanks. Jonathan King
@adsamateurdiy5963
@adsamateurdiy5963 Год назад
@kingjon100 Hi Jonathan, thanks for your comment! 1. To seal the bottoms of the walls I just used a general purpose waterproofing sealer, to be honest some water does get in, I’m planning on felting the outer side curved into the drain to avoid this. 2. BOSTIK WATERPROOFING BITUMINOUS PAINT BLACK 3. The flashing was just bostik flashband and the black paint came with the pack, it encourages the flashband to stick to the service. Hope this helps!

Great video, but I always wonder why people use sheets of wood and felt instead of a polycarbonate sheet for lean to shed roof, with polycarbonate, its watertight right away and also gives you natural light. Is cost the factor? @Ads Amateur DIY, were you considering polycarbonate?

Hi thanks for this great video! Really useful as we are planning a very similar project. A couple of questions.. what was the finished size of your shed? Also do you think the plastic grid type base with gravel would be suitable for something similar? Also what did you add on the roof where it met with your house wall.. would this be needed too if its a brick wall?.. sorry all the questions. Thanks! 😁
@adsamateurdiy5963
@adsamateurdiy5963 3 года назад
Hi Tim, thanks for your comment! The shed size is around 1.8m x 2.6m. I’ve not worked with the grid type base but I’m sure it would be fine providing you can make it flat / level and be able to secure the shed frame to it if needed. I would bare in mind the weight load on top, frame / shed contents to avoid sinking etc. We chased a channel into the wall and added flashing, you can buy this on rolls in tape form. It seals the roof joint to the house to stop any water. This is common and would recommend doing this to keep everything dry and water tight. Hope this helps, Good luck with your build!

Great video just cringed every time you were not wearing safety glasses. Protect your eyes. You wanna see your kids grow up.

A lean to shed consists of a sloping roof and three walls that lean against the wall of another structure. This is just a SHED with a sloped roof

This is 3 walls, it has a sloped roof and it’s leaning against the outer house wall. It’s a lean to shed pal. Thanks for the view
